Tiny/enormous text in flowed text frame
Old Bruce replied to Sparky2's topic in [ARCHIVE] Publisher beta on macOS threads

One Layer System
Old Bruce replied to Designer_George's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Okay, I think I understand. If your definition is correct I could get behind this. I had a hard time trying to wrap my head around the concept's utility versus Master Pages. -
That is a "Wait, what just happened?" moment. Even worse is if you have three Masters and the page numbers are on the third master. Numbering starts at 5 on the left page. I have taken to having the Fields hi lighted just so I don't freak.
-
Are you using Text > Insert > Fields > Page Number or are you using the Fields Studio to place the Page Number fields on the Master page? Did you apply the Master Page to all the pages? Are you sure you are placing Page Number and not Next/Previous Frame Page Number? It works as expected here on my machines.

use of memory and slowing down with brushes
Old Bruce replied to srg's topic in [ARCHIVE] Photo beta on macOS threads
This is a great work around, I don't see the performance of machines and software ever getting to the point where an idea like this would not be needed. -
Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.7.0.4)
Old Bruce replied to MattP's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on macOS threads
I would suggest new topics for the four of them. Makes it easier to keep track of the solutions. -
Go to Document > Section Manager and set up the sections to have the same page number and Chapter Name instead of the blank field or Section one, two, etc. Place the Field (View > Studio > Fields) from Document Sections called Name: <Section Name> into a text frame on a Master Page and every Page with that Master applied will have the correct chapter name.

I have no luck with the shortcut for choosing the Flood Fill tool. I press G and the Gradient Tool is chosen but a second press does nothing. Other tool shortcuts with multiple tools work fine. It works fine on Affinity Photo 1.6 The Preferences for both applications are the same. Shows the letter G and the weird little blob indicating that it is for more than one tool in both Gradient Tool and Flood Fill Tool. Problem is on both the laptop and the desktop computers.

"not sure what.": A wasted life? A mostly wasted life? A partly wasted life? Regarding Ben/Benn/Been all I can say in my defence is D'oh! I learned a long time ago to never proof by myself anything that I had set.

I believe it is written "D'oh". I do feel your pain at missing a perfect solution.

Dorne
Old Bruce replied to Dorne's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Do you mean the document colour format? Document > Colour Format > Make a choice. -
That messed my mind up when I first came across it several years ago. But I got over it and don't worry about it. Software takes care of all that stuff behind the scenes. Maybe things per inch should be the new standard. tpi rules! Or when ever you see dpi just make your brain see ppi or vice versa. It is really really easy to do and it doesn't matter.

Vehicle Wraps
Old Bruce replied to renovatu's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Do you mean the actual physical vinyl wrap to be placed on a car/truck? Or do you have a photo of a truck you want to put an image onto the picture of the truck? -
hyphenation
Old Bruce replied to René van Elst's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Wow, been years (decades...?) since I used that, BBEdit is the replacement, a slightly limited set of tools for the 'free' version but more features than TextWrangler. Which is if memory serves a damned fine text editor. -
Exporting as a PDF
Old Bruce replied to minion's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
File > Export and then choose PDF. What ninja @MikeW just said. -
is this photo edited?
Old Bruce replied to Lez's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I came here expecting this and was not surprised. Oh. The humanity.... -
I too have noticed that behaviour. I would classify this as a bug for certain.

Affinity for Linux
Old Bruce replied to kirov's topic in Feedback for the V1 Affinity Suite of Products
And we Anglophones stole "développeur" and then changed the spelling to "developer" so as to confuse the police. Hmmm, I wonder where we stole "police" from?
