  1. "editing those images again and then reinserting them" is what I would do for this instance, also I would only use local drives, apparently there are problems with networked drives and the various cloud flavours.
  2. Very few tools will change to the double arrow with a bar " <-|-> " while on the ruler, shape drawing tools (rectangle, eclipse, triangle etc) the gradient tool (but oddly not the flood fill tool) will allow me to move the guides. None of the various flavours of brush tools will though which is a little weird in my mind.
  3. I just opened it in Publisher and wow you have problems with those pictures. All but two show the problems with the black white rectangles, when viewed at less than 100% I can see them all properly but I noticed they all have the same name 'image.png or .jpeg' Now it is causing Designer Beta to crash so that is all for now.
  4. I couldn't down load the Outside file but the Brochure_Inside file has a ... how to put it... notched black rectangle in one of the image's place on the page. There is a thumbnail preview on the layers panel. When I selected the image and drew it out using the handles I could see an image but copying it resulted in the clipboard having only 'text' on it and the attempt at making a new document from the clipboard gave me the news that the object has no physical dimensions. There were pixel dimensions on the original layer/image according to Designer. I would think there is something wrong with your original image, a mask perhaps. Is it just the one image on the Brochure_Inside document that is busted? Edit forgot to include a screen shot. I turn off the visibility of most everything else after dragging it out to the huge size.
  5. That is a weird one, but I have to ask, why do you have the macro record studio open? On the far left. Just curious is all, I rarely use it and close up once I am done.
  6. Or a Single letter... I Mean after a Single... I Give up. That was how I found out about it.
  7. I just have to select a layer first then I can continue on working. No need to group anything.
  8. I like to use 11 points on exactly 12 points leading and use snap to baseline grid in both the Text Frame and Paragraph style. But there is a bug of some sort when using a drop capital which will expand the height of the drop capital to an additional line (or more) depending on the position of the text frame on the page and/or the height of the text frame, I am not sure which. The bug persists if I use Default leading however if I use 100% line spacing instead of exactly 12 points it goes away. DropCap.mov
  9. I had an editor who would tell me to 'make it fit' and bless him he never flinched when I'd pick up a trash can and a pair of scissors.
  10. I can get this to occur if I have (accidentally) selected the text frame while using File > Place... . If I have the Text Frame selected and I then use the Place Image tool I can select and place the image. In the File > Place... while having a Text Frame selected scenario I can select a .txt file but not an image file, that is to be expected. Like you I can drag 'backwards' to reverse the image, but the erratic placement of mirrored images doesn't happen for me. I tried this with an jpeg at best quality with the 'picture' grouped and exported as .jpeg from File > Export in Photo 1.6.7 and as a grouped and as an ungrouped Slice from the Export Persona. Unlike you I did my own version of Cornwallis (drawing from memory) in Photo. Could there be something about the original pictures in your Photo document which you grouped with the caption? Just blue skying here.
  11. That is my thinking on it too. Perhaps if we had seen it earlier we would be using it all the time for some currently ineffable task.
  12. I noticed this but until this post never really thought about it. I agree its utility is somewhat limited and doubtful but it could be useful in some manner or other.
  13. Set up a paragraph Style with no space between, not before or after. Styles are our friends.
  14. Turn off the 'Capitalize first letter of sentences' in Preferences > Auto Correct.
  15. Yes, current behaviour is foolish and adds unnecessary steps to the workflow.
  16. I agree we need this. I use the guides as snapping candidates and so I do not want to be able to move them with other tools, brushes shape tools and just doing a selection. I just check with the Guides manager, it is far more accurate than reading the ruler but I have no real objection to this suggestion. A valid request and I am surprised it needs to be asked for. Yes to this one as well.
  17. I was testing with the betas of Designer and Publisher. I got no warning, just a long wait with nothing happening. Same result (no message) with Publisher.
  18. Further to this is that both Designer and Publisher's current betas will not open a beta .109 Photo document, they just hang as soon as the open button is clicked. Both will open 1.6 versions of Affinity Photo. A force quit is the only way to get out of the situation.
  19. Same here, not with the place image tool or the menu command. Nothing happens I can see and select the Photo document but that is it. Build .109 documents toss up a warning about being from a newer version of the suite when I use Designer's beta to try and open a Photo document. Plus I have to check if I can crash the publisher beta again trying to place a document.
  20. Hmmm... Black on Mac, and it didn't change after I tried to save as default.
