Mysterious downsizing of AFP files
Old Bruce replied to Roc's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Further to what I said about my workflow is that I Develop/process the raw file as a linked file. The results are files under a megabyte. If I were to do so as an embedded file or a pixel layer then the file would be much larger. Linked file version. Raster version. -

@Roc the way I work differs very slightly from yours. I do not use Bridge, I use the Mac OS to sort my files. I do not use File > Save As... after I have opened and edited my raw file, I use File > Save. And I navigate to the folder/directory I want to save it to. -
Kerning changes the way the font displays
Old Bruce replied to dehskins's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
If you are using the Keyboard Shortcuts that is more akin to Tracking than Kerning. And in my limited testing it does appear that if I apply it to a text frame's worth of text then it is remembered for the next bit of text I type. If I use the Character Panel all seems to be the same. I wouldn't call this a bug as it would be unbelievably frustrating if we couldn't set the spacing to stick to the characters we are typing. When you want to space text/letters you will have to reset it to 0 (zero) in the Character Panel or Default in the menu. -
Kerning changes the way the font displays

That is not supposed to happen. Which application are you using? Designer, Photo, or Publisher? How exactly are you altering the spacing? Meaning which panel and what tool is selected, how is the text / letter(s) selected etc. -

Using Save As... will save a copy of the file so if you did that inadvertently after the first Save the one with the layers may well be somewhere else on your hard drive(s). I have done, and will do, this myself. I am not sure how one searchs for files on Windows but that is what I would do here on Mac. Look for a file with the same name, they wind up in the oddest locations. -
All 300+ reference end notes description gone...
Old Bruce replied to Cogent30's topic in V2 Bugs found on macOS
The last one in the screen shot has a full stop as a final character, more importantly in the first post the screenshot of the "handful" of notes which were included all but one seem to formatted with closing brackets as final characters. So I too doubt that is a condition or recipe for loss. -

Were there layers (other than the layer named after the .arw linked file) when you saved the file as a Photo file? What sort of layers were they? -
New user. Baffled.

Turn on the visibility of the group marked below. The Mask you can ignore for now. Hit the little grey dot so it turns black. I did a mock up here, the mask is shown by the green square. Hit the little > in the layer that I have indicated. Other layers in that group may be turned off as well. We don't know until you expand it. -
I like to have about 30 to 50% overlap for panoramas. One big problem is areas that are mostly just sky in the overlap area, sometimes there just isn't any obvious area which the software can say with certainty these two areas are the same. Meaning the software doesn't know if the overlap is 60% or 10%.

Raw files not opening in develop persona
Old Bruce replied to smee45's topic in V2 Bugs found on macOS
I can get the Untitled tab name if I place the raw file into a File > New... document. Then a double click on the raw file in the layers panel gets me into the Develop Persona, still with the Untitled tab name. -

Why is it not in colour? -
It has always been like this. No snapping to anything other than the Canvas/Artboard or other slices in the Export Persona.

Panorama Photo
Old Bruce replied to wim's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
My cousin gave me a great tip for getting excellent photos of popular tourist attractions. He buys the nicest postcards he can find. Saves a lot of time which he then spends enjoying the place with his family. [No really, I am serious about this. emoticon] -
On Mac OS it is, for some reason, Option + Click on the Mask icon in the Layers panel.

You need to have a Pixel layer selected, other image layer types won't work. If your heart is set on using a non-pixel layer then you would need to "roll your own" by making the three RGB (or four (cmyk)) channels from the Composite and load them into a new empty Pixel layer, plus make or fill the alpha channel. See the differences between a Linked Raw file and a Rasterized layer of it.

I am just guessing but I figure the problem is down to the FX on the little red thing. The FX would be over the entire Designer canvas and would maybe somehow flow over into a larger Publisher area. Completely guessing here. Yesterday while pondering this I couldn't figure out why you didn't just make the odd little bit from Designer in Publisher. Still curious as to why you didn't do that.

Did you make the notes with the text of the note inside the square brackets or outside of them? Easily done. Inside is what you want/need. -
White edges on image when using Export Persona

For Pixel work choose the snapping preset "Pixel Work" and turn on Snapping. This should force your Artboards and everything else that you create to be pixel aligned. With one caveat: Things that you copy and paste won't necessarily be pixel aligned or sized.
