Can you select the tools using Keyboard Shortcuts. M for the Shapes tool, T for the Text tools, P for the Pen tool etc? Are you using an Apple Mouse or some other Mouse or trackpad or a Graphics Tablet? Do you have any 3rd party Utilities for running Macros or Keyboard shortcuts? Or any 3rd party Utilities which may be between the Mac OS and the Publisher software.

Pretty much everything is a layer. An image (like an imported/Placed .JPEG file), a Rectangle, Text, Pixel layers that you can paint on, Filter Layers, Adjustment layers, Groups etc. Even a Layer layer is a layer. A Layer is available in Designer and Publisher, kind of like a Group. Publisher Designer

Affinity Publisher 2.1.1 - Glyphen im Kolumnentitel
Old Bruce replied to AALEXX's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
Seems to work here, after a fashion. Try this, the font is Arial and the other is an ornamental font which you may not have. Some of the symbols/glyphs which are not Arial won't show in the running header. The Symbols/Glyphs which are Arial show. test.afpub Scheint hier zu funktionieren, nach einer gewissen Zeit. -
Affinity Publisher 2.1.1 Fehler Textstile
Old Bruce replied to AALEXX's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
Affinity Publisher 2.1.1 Fehler Textstile
Old Bruce replied to AALEXX's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
There is no "One Absolute Best Way" to do this. For this scenario I would look at the Word document and decide on what I was going to use as Text Styles. Obviously I would make a Character Style named Bold and one named Italic. I would make my own Paragraph and Character Styles in Publisher before I bring in the entire Word document. After I have all the styles I need and the pages are the proper size with the best Master Pages I would use File > Place to place the Word.docx file. Then I would use the Find and Replace panel to search for the imported Paragraph Styles and replace them with my own. If there are no imported Paragraph Styles then I would search and replace for Font family, weight, size and alignment and replace with my prepared Paragraph Styles. -
Affinity Publisher 2.1.1 - Glyphen im Kolumnentitel
Old Bruce replied to AALEXX's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
I think the problem may be because the font with the Glyphs is not the same as the Font for the text in the Title or the Font the text for the "Column title" I would insert the Glyph, then do the "Insert" - "Fields" - "Column title", and finally insert the other Glyph.
Selected objects remain selected after locking a layer

If I select a locked layer in the Layers panel I can still change the colour, stroke etc. -
Affinity Publisher 2.1.1 Fehler Textstile

We don't format "text fields" we format text. Use the Text Caret and place it in the text and look at the Text Styles panel. If you desire to have everything as one text style then select all the text (place the Text Caret somewhere in the text and hit Command + A (or Control + A on Windows) to select all the text) click on the Text Style you want it to be. This can be done before or after you have done the Automatic Text Flow (I have the habit of doing the Paragraph Style application before expanding the number of pages because I may increase or decrease the number of pages by applying the Paragraph Style). via DeepL.com ================== Wir formatieren keine "Textfelder", wir formatieren Text. Welcome to the forums @Joyce D, If you know what size you are going to print at then you could make a new Document of that size, let us say 8 x 10 inches. Set its DPI to 300 and you'll get a 2,400 x 3,000 pixel document. You can then place you photo in/on that new document. You may want to open an existing file and Resize it as it is too small or large or the wrong DPI, here you see that I have a 144dpi image. Note that the physical size is the same, just the dpi is changed with the Resample checked. Here the physical size is changed, as well as the dpi.

If you do not save the Developed raw file as a .afphoto file then all the adjustments made to the raw file are lost, because you didn't save it. There is a way to save the changes as a linked file, the size of the resulting file can be quite small. On the right is the raw file on the left is the Linked, developed file. Here is where you set the Linked, Embedded, or Pixel data.

Affinity Designer - Leading Override
Old Bruce replied to Noxy's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
You may have a space between Paragraphs setting of 12 points (or 10 or 14). Check the Paragraph panel. The Leading Override is something that will best be set to Auto for most if not all of the text in a document. -
Not entirely sure of what you mean by "linked". I am guessing you mean you have applied a Master Page to the Actual pages, a Master Page with a Table in it. If, while you are working on the Actual Page, you use the Layers Panel and right click on the Master Page there you'll see a Context Menu item that says "Edit Detached" choose that and you should be able to then select the table and edit it.

Affinity Photo V2 Curves Question
Old Bruce replied to Steve F's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
If you go to the Assistant settings you can change where Adjustment Layers are placed, they can be placed as a child layer or as a separate layer above. When above they will adjust everything you have below and this may be a bad thing. -
Setting up of end notes page at the end of a book
Old Bruce replied to dr john williams's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
That "end of book" choice for Endnotes does seem to be broken here on Mac OS 11.7 There may be a way to get it to work but I can't seem to figure it out. -
I think what you may have done is just copy and paste the entire artwork onto each Artboard. How you made those artboards I don't know for certain but I suspect it was by drawing rectangles of the appropriate size and location (meaning a rectangle sized to just the glass) with a gap that is the frame of the entire glass wall. and then you converted the rectangles one by one into artboards and pasted the entire Artwork into each artboard. here is the C1 artboard showing (with blue outlines) exactly what is not on the art board.

Affinity Photo V2 Curves Question
Old Bruce replied to Steve F's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Welcome to the forums Steve F, I am not entirely certain of what you want to achieve. But having said that you will be painting with the "new colour" on the original pixel layer and that new colour will be affected by the Curves Adjustment layer. If you paint on an empty new Pixel layer above the original layer with its Adjustment Layer then this will be the "new colour" unaffected by the Curves Adjustment layer. Try this and turn off and on the Adjustment layer to see the effects. Try with something more radical like a HSL or Recolour Adjustment layer to see what is happening on different layers. -

Perhaps if you change from Custom to Document-wide things may work better. -
Merging child layers copies info from parent layer
Old Bruce replied to AdamF's topic in V2 Bugs found on macOS
Unsure of what you are actually needing from the nesting. Are you wanting the black layer to clip the red and blue layers? I enlarged them here in this screenshot.
