AD2: Bind Slice to Artboard
Old Bruce replied to D.VE's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Make your Artboards square and use the Margins to define the A5 size inside it. Do your artwork in the margins and then group all the layers. Use the Export Persona to export the Background and the Group (after making said Group a Slice). here is a file for version 2 of Designer. cartoon.afdesign -
Are you using the Transparency tool on a Shape (rectangle)? Or are you using a Gradient with one or more of the stops set to 0% opacity? And are you wondering why that transparency doesn't carry over to the Pixel layer? In either case the transparency is affecting the fill of the Shape. Here is a screenshot of something that took me about 10 minutes to knock together. I have no idea if it demonstrates what you actually want to achieve. And here is the file. Untitled.afdesign

I use underscores in the text for Italics, and setting Paragraph styles. For _example_ would be searched for using the Regex _(.+?)_ in the Find and \1 + the Character Style Italic. I am not entirely sure about the recipe but this is a crippling (for me) bug with the Find and Replace. If I use Regex to find a string of characters, text which is to be italicized, and replace it with /1 and apply the Character Style Italic (which I made) it may or may not work. To trigger this I will first use the Replace button a few times to make certain that things are working. Then I will hit Replace all. This is where the bug lives. There will be a repeat of the most recent found string of characters instead of the next found string of characters. Sometimes it is just a one time occurence, other times all of the following found strings will be replaced with that now incorrect found term. It also seems to get triggered by successive strings having the same number letters. Mac OS 11.7

[ADe] 2.1.1 - Shape Builder Tool glitches
Old Bruce replied to Mithferion's topic in V2 Bugs found on Windows
I think part of the problem is that the topmost curve, the diagonal line is not on the corner in the Upper Right. There may be other items out of alignment as well. -
@five3141two I guess you could do it this way with Section Names from the Section Manager for the ToC. I prefer to use text in the text. Generally speaking "Chapter One" will actually be in the text and I use a Paragraph Style (say "Chapter Name") for that and choose that Paragraph Style for the ToC. The way you have it set up you could use two Paragraph Styles as I have in the revised document, you'll have to go through and manually apply the Heading 1 for ToC paragraph style to the heading in the Actual Pages.* No real saving of time. The other way you could use your method involves going to the various Actual Pages and Edit Detached the Master Page Chapter and delete the the invisible text frame that has the Section name in it.** In my opinion I think that your method is going to cause no end of headaches. * this example example-ToC Bruce.afpub ** the second example example-ToC Bruce 02.afpub

Using APhoto v2 - a photographer's POV
Old Bruce replied to m.vlad's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
If you have Photo then you could try it and see what happens. In my experience doubling a Linked raw file layer doesn't increase the file size that much.- 28 replies

I think you need to have at least one Frame Text Text Frame in the mix for that extraneous resize handle to show up. With Frame Text Text Frame: Without Frame Text Text Frame:

I think the problem is caused by applying Two Master Pages instead of One. Problem with two Master Pages applied. No problem with One Master Page applied. While my version of the beta (2.2.0.1903) doesn't show the problem the retail release (2.1.1) does show the problem so there is some weird bug happening that the beta has (potentially) fixed. For the record this is on Mac OS 11.7.9

Custom text variables
Old Bruce replied to Ash's topic in [ARCHIVE] 2.3, 2.2 & 2.1 Features and Improvements
It is just a quick proof of concept pastiche. first three chaps.afpub -
When clearing the Find Field the previously found items are still shown. The previous found items can be changed by hitting the Replace or Replace All buttons. Not something I want. Please make the previously found items gracefully fade away when the Find Field is cleared. Note how the Year, the numbers have disappeared. After hitting the replace/replace all button I get the unwanted replacement for the long gone date (previously replaced with nothing after the Find field was cleared). This is present in the latest beta as well.

Custom text variables
Old Bruce replied to Ash's topic in [ARCHIVE] 2.3, 2.2 & 2.1 Features and Improvements
Use one instance of a Running header for the Book Name. A second for the Chapter & Verse first on page and if needed a third for the Chapter and Verse last on page. I think I agree with your desire for actual variables in the custom variables, but I am at a bit of a loss with coming up with a concrete example of something I would use. I shall ponder it for a while. -
Try this one. I cleared out the masters and now there are just two. In my opinion naming everything (using consistent names) on Master Pages is a very necessary thing. Olympischer bruce 02.afpub
