One thing I keep stressing is the necessity of naming absolutely everything with sensible, appropriate names on the Master pages. I would go with Outside Text Left, inside Text Left, Inside Text Right, and Outside Text Right. Or A and B for the Inside and Outside. I will wager you have the layers with the default no name generic Frame Text so when you add the single or odd number of pages there is going to be a fallback on layer order or however it works with unnamed/same-named text layers. Leading to the mess you show.

You have a weird little pair of handles on the corner node. I selected it and converted it to a Sharp node then all was well. I changed the colour of the stroke so the node and its handles would be clearer.

All I can think of is that the various Studio panels have beeen moved from the View menu to the Window menu. Try using Window > Studio > Show Right Studio.

On the Mac we have four modifier keys; Shift, Control, Option(the equivalent is Alt on Windows) and Command. The above is done by holding down the Control Key on the Mac. Obviously this won't work for Windows.

One is. Odds are the ones with the generic Photo icon have not had their Thumbnails generated, they would need to be opened and saved again. Any kind of edit, paste something into the document, delete it and save the document will do.

Use the Command + J to show the View Options. In Finder it is View > Show View options. You can set this individually for each and every Finder Window or set it to be used as default.

Seeing as this is most likely going to bite me again thanks for another workaround. I may not have an earlier copy to start over from.

I noticed this last night working on a Photo 2.2.0 [1971] document. In my case it was not an EPS file but an embedded Photo 2.2.0 [1971] file which was causeing me trouble. If I remember correctly any little change to the embedded file would result in the same warning as you show in your first post. Fortunately I had an earlier version I could open and do a Save As. But again any change to the embedded file resulted in the Can't Save warning. I am running Mac OS 12.6.8

@Dan C, I do believe that @jackamus is wanting to snap to the bounding box midpoints of the rotated objects. In my experience this is not possible with rotated objects. We can snap to the middle of the whole thing not the centres of the edges. Having said that I must confess that I have yet to figure out why I would want or need to have this ability. Four separate guides. Here is a mockup of what I think jackamus is after. Yellow highlight of the guides.

To my eye that looks like JPEG compression artifacts. And my knowledge of how to deal with them is that it is not easily "fixed". I will yield to more knowledgeable people, myself I have found that a bit of Gaussian blur may take some of the edge off.

I should have mentioned that each tool (Shapes, Pen, Pencil etc.) can be set up like this. As can the Text tool with Font Face size colour of text stroke applied etc.

If you are going to be using Left and Right pages you will be best served by using Facing Pages for the Masters. Not Single Pages. Also a tip is to name each and every item (layer) on your Master Pages, use descriptive text such as Title and Author for the two frames and Page Number Left and Page Number Right for the page numbers.

It is rather well hidden. To change the default colours make a shape (Rectangle in this case) and set it to the colour (and stroke) that you want for the default. Go to Edit > Defaults > Synchronize from selection and then immediately go to Edit > Defaults > Save.

Weird. I do believe you have found a bug.

Great show. In the early days of offices becoming computerized my sister had a hand written list of "Stupid questions" the tech support people would ask her when she phoned for help. One of them was "Is it plugged in?" She learned to always check her list and actually look see if things were actually plugged in and turned on. Her list eventually got printed out for everyone in her office and she would update it as the technology improved and new "Stupid questions" were introduced. Their calls to support were few and far between, it got to the point where the only answer from tech support would be "Well I think its broken and you'll need a new one."

Not sure if this matters but I see a pair of characters in line 14 when I open this in BBEdit.

Reread the bit I quoted, @Gerard Moeres is wanting to have the text frames on the Actual Pages, not the Master Pages.

Why bother with a Master Page (or pair of them)? If you are wanting to have three text frames on the pages just do so on Actual Pages. They will auto-flow text just the same.

I would just make a file with one "page" that is wide enough for the Back Cover, the Spine, and the Front Cover. You may want to talk to your printer to get the proper dimensions, the spine may wind up being thicker/thinner depending on the book's paper weight and finish.

Hi @Gerard Moeres, does your layers panel show the Master B master page when you have selected one of the pages after you have applied it to? What is on Master A and Master B? If you have text frames on the master pages are they linked? What should be migrated from the Actual Pages when the Masters are removed and replaced?

You would need to choose the appropriate setting in the Running Header section (Note that this is for each and every instance of a running header if you use multiple types). You may need to use None

So if I am understanding you correctly the Stroke and the Fill will both be somehow available for accepting a change in colour. I guess I have to first click on the fill in order to have its colour change but not have the Stroke's colour change. Or do I have to use the click and drag the Fill onto the colour wheel, or use the pipette and clcik on a colour then click on the Fill....

Happened twice today. After working for a while on a Text only Publisher [beta] document I went to the Preferences and changed the User Interface from Dark to Light and crashed. After starting Publisher [beta] again I could change the interface without crashing. Later on I had a crash after I had Quit Publisher and restarted it and again changed the User Interface this time from Light to Dark. Once again I had been working for a while on an all text Publisher [beta] document. In each case the Document had been made with the current version of the beta, 2.2.0.1971 Mac OS 12.6.8 Crash reports for publisher beta 1971.zip

I do just that (when I remember to do so) when I have a massive amount to data on the clipboard. I guess there could be a simple "Copy a singe pixel at 0, 0" command that runs as soon as the File > Quit is chosen. But that would need an open document when you quit.
