  1. Which picture frame are you trying to select, the one with the Mask or the one with the Image? For that matter, why do you have a Mask inside a picture frame? Why not just have it above the image or in the image? To my mind this seems overly complicated.
  2. When I edit one of my posts I will include a note explaining what and why I edited it. Or I will do as you have kind of done and make a new post explaining that my original post was wrong and give the correct information done.
  3. @squinx, First off the Line Break is not the same as a Paragraph break. Line Breaks are made by holding shift and hitting the Return key, a Paragraph break is made with just the Return key. Having said that I would suggest you put you cursor in the ToC in a line that has the page number and take a look at the Tabs settings for that ToC Paragraph Style. You may need to adjust the Tab Stop settings. If possible could you make a new Document with Chapter one's headings and a bit, just a few lines, of the regular text copied from this problem document and paste it into the new document. Make a ToC the same way and if the problem exists then post that tiny file here.
  4. The bug seems to be that there needs to be content in the Picture Frame before any potential child layers can be added by dragging and dropping in the Layers panel. At least that is what I see here on Mac OS 12.7.4 with Affinity Publisher 2.4.0
  5. Do they look like this or this In the top example you would wind up with just a large donut*. The lower example would be different. *Mmmm... Large Donut....
  6. @Hussard64, I am going to guess that some or all of your text is from a LibreOffice document. That is one of the applications I have that has their own fonts hidden inside the actual application. Chaos reigns when using them. I know of no easy way to get rid of them other than making sure I don't use them in my LibreOffice documents, and that is a right royal pain.
  7. @Paul100, In my experience the easiest way I can mess up footnotes is to accidentally click on the Custom instead of leaving it set to the default Document Wide. The other thing I will mess up is the choice of Number starting. Try these settings. Place your text caret in the notes to see if it is Document Wide or Custom.
  8. Most likely when the defaults were set a simple mistake was made, resulting in them being not the same. Or someone decided that the way it is is the way it should be. Much the same as you wanting the initial values to be 0.0 instead of 1.1.
  9. Or zip them and let those who are interested download and view on their own (differently calibrated) monitors.
  10. You should be able to edit any copy of the symbol and have those edits show in all the copies. Could you make a file with an uncooperative symbol, make a few copies of the symbol and label the original* so we can see what you are seeing. Then post that file here on the forums.
  11. As Walt said "It may be a Magic Mouse thing" My experience with Macs (about 30 years worth) is that Apple has worked very hard to make bad mice. Their trackpad is really quite good. I would never buy a mouse made by Apple.
  12. thing = expertise I know quite a bit about fonts. Compared to you I know next to nothing about fonts.
  13. My personal opinion is that this ordering of the stories should not be done in publisher. It should be done earlier, before you start work laying out the book. If you have your heart set on it I would suggest using a word processor to break the text into the individual stories. Then you can more easily "bop the stories around" by deleting the text flow and replacing it with another story. Then you'll need to add or delete pages with all the headaches involved in altering the text flow because of changing the number of pages from odd to even. With having illustrations for each/some story(s) you get a much more massive set of headaches regarding text flow. Again the following is just my own personal opinion. I would not take on a job like this. If I were to wind up in a situation where this reordering was happening over and over then I would be tempted to hand off the "work in progress" and just walk away from it, taking the loss.
  14. As much as I dislike (and discourage the use of) overrides you might be best served by using them. Just select the text you need to alter the formating for and apply the overrides to that paragraph(s) or those words/characters. I would only do the overrides if it is an exception to the rule. If however you have several paragraphs that need a particular style then you would be best served by making new paragraph styles and updating the first chapter's Paragraph Styles. This is the sort of thing that experience will inform you as to what works best. There are no real rules regarding when to make a Style and when to simply override.
  15. Really should be asking in a new post. But yes, sort of. If I in fact do understand your question. Go to the View menu and see New View and Views. You can see I have a choice of two views of the one image I currently have open.
  16. All of the Adjustment layers have an integrated (built-in) mask. Just select the Adjustment layer and start painting.
  17. Try showing the Left Studio and docking the Pages (and Assets) panel in that. Check the item in Window > Studio > Show Left Studio.
  18. And here on Mac OS 12.7.4 the on/off status of the Sync button is unchanging. We have no idea if it is enabled or not. A massive failure that needs to be fixed.
  19. I haven't a clue as to how difficult it would be to code but there is the river metaphor, Left Bank and Right Bank. The first node would be the source and the final node would be the mouth of the river.
  20. The problem somehow appears to be caused by how the gradient is being applied. I changed the fill to a solid colour then back to a gradient and all was well with exporting to PDF.
