I've asked the developers what the right answer should be for this. To me, it works fine and how I would want but I can certainly appreciate everyone works differently and require different things.
In the video, it almost feels like you are intentionally trying to make the Colour Picker appear but as I said above, if this is how you're working then it needs to work for you.We need to find out if the solution is to remove the feature, change the timing or as suggested, have a toggle. I'll update you once I've got my feedback.
Hi Chris B,
Yes, I’m trying to demonstrate the problem by slowing more down here. When painting/drawing in real life, I (and others) do get annoyed by it without thinking about the speed we work - that’s why I gave up painting in Photo long time ago - I got an e-mail from the forum that there was an update on this thread - that’s the only reason I commented on it. I paint using ProCreate and occasionally use Photo for adjustments and resize, but it would be nice if Photo worked with palm rejection and also got two finger tap undo, like Designer got, and everyone else uses. A simple solution might be that you must use the finger to pick colour by tapping and holding it for 1 second, and letting the pen work as a pen.
Best regards
Jens

Will do! It’s very similar to JensLundins’ video though! I’m working on human anatomy proportionality. So I’m drawing a lot of guidelines on my canvas. Just trying to start my guideline in the right location will cause this; especially when using the “continue last” feature for straight lines. I may be using it wrong though. I swear I think it’s the palm of my drawing hand doing it too! I have an iPad Pro 12.9”. Add a “palm rejection” feature maybe? Or toggle switch between 1 and 3 seconds? 1 second is almost unusable and really frustrating for me. Thank you...
If you look at my video you can see that when my palm touches the screen, it zooms in so I must zoom out again. So I agree that palm rejection also might be a problem hitting random functions...

Hey BenjaminM3000, welcome to the Affinity Forums.
It looks like this bug was marked as fixed in February in an older build (1.6.7.74). I've just spent 10 minutes trying this on the current 1.6.8.77 and this bug didn't occur once in the 10 minutes I was trying it. We've set the colour picker loupe to be invoked after a second or so of holding the Apple Pencil very still.
If you're still seeing this, could you please enable Show touches from Preferences > General and do a quick recording? This will help us see the kind of strokes you are doing and how fast/slow etc. Thanks!Make an option for turning it off instead of annoying several people trying to paint in the app with this type of “support”... I have attached an example to show problem. If you are painting wery small details you might work really slow, and then Photo kills your work again and again.
Best regards
Jens

Has this bug/setting been fixed? It’s really slowing me down constantly changing my color back to my original color.
If you are painting, then I suggest you to use ProCreate - they actually do fix errors and continues to improve the program. I gave up waiting for Photo for iPad like I did with the Mac version also.

Found it - in edits...

How do I invert the content of a layer?
Thanks’s in advance :)

When using AP for painting it's nice having the stabilizer option for the brush. Smudge is also heavily used when painting - so please enable stabilizer on other tools also. This goes for both MAC and iPad.
Thanks in advance (if anyone reads this) :-)

Please don't think that moving threads to Feature Requests means it is dead because this is not true. If we didn't listen to what our users wanted, I don't think we would be where we are today. I've passed your feedback on myself (logged it with development) which generally means it has a higher chance of being considered.
Thanks!Hi Chris B,
Thanks. Please note that my feedback isn’t ment for you in person but for my experience with the Affinity Company during the last couple of years in general.

Sorry I think we may have misunderstood each other... It seems to be working absolutely fine for me. The area is magnified within the circle on my machine so you can accurately place the node. it sounds like you're seeing something entirely different. Can you take a screenshot please?
Hi Chris B,
My attempt to be funny/sarcastic wasn't successful I can see, sorry for this
For me personally it's: What ever goes into "Feature Requests" is never going to happen...
I joined during your beta period for AP on Mac and have besides from buying your products spend time on locating errors and reporting them, asked for features etc. and are after years still waiting for things on the road map of the products to be introduced... I'm actually starting to expect that there will be introduced a weather forecast and personal gaming persona in your products before "Feature Requests" and road map is implemented (if ever) - Yes, this was sarcastic, but it's my best way to express my disappointment in a proper tone
It does actually makes sense - you need to attract new buyers, and not keep existing happy, as it isn't subscription based pricing...
I will wait for the next Beta release before testing further, as the current is totally unusable for me (I have another error reported for this also).

I think it was implemented to aid accuracy but as you say, this is not always necessary as sometimes you need a bigger viewing area. This is an improvement request so it's in the right area of the forum. I'll make sure development are aware too.
Hi Chris B,
Interesting way of thinking... Having something that actually works, then changes it so it doesn't work, and afterwards calls it a improvement request if it should be wanted fixed :-)

Hey JensLundin,
I logged this issue before Christmas so there's been no movement on it yet but I think it definitely needs looking at. I'll add your feedback to the bug report. Thanks!
Thanks :-)

Hey JensLundin,
You cannot disable it. I understand that it's a bit tricky to use at first as you almost have to train yourself to look inside the loupe instead of where your finger is going. I'll move this thread to Feature Requests as it might be possible for development to add a Preferences option to disable it.
Hi Chris B,
The loupe does NOT display what I need to see - it only displays the area around the node tool selection. When moving a node, it's important to see the overall change to the shape of the object, and this is hidden by the loupe only showing the "cursor" and nearest surroundings.

When using the node tool, a loupe shows up. This might be handy when not zoomed in, but for me it covers what I actually want to se instead. How to disable loupe?
Thank’s in advance

When I’m painting slowly to be precise, it picks up colors instead. How to change this behavior?
Thank’s in advance
Update: I was forced to go back to AppStore version, as this is unuseable for any brush work. For example I’m using the Paint Mixer Tool, where I have set it to auto reload color, and set color to 0% opacity to automatically clear the brush before each stroke. For every stroke I do, it picks a color instead and loads the brush with it. As there is no gesture for undo, I must lift my right arm to locate the undo-arow under it just to learn that the color selection isn’t undo-able. This really need some improvement before hitting the AppStore version and annoying all users using a brush

We use it for painting/artist work in most other applications that are able to work with layers - is it ever going to be implemented, or is Affinity just a dead end for that type of work?
-
How do I make the smudge tool and the paint mixer brush sample from the layers below also?
Thanks in advance :-)

I draw a lot in perspective, and miss the abillity to define grids with one or more vanishing points.

I kind of agree with all the points in this thread. To be useful, the modifier keys need to be persistent on the screen, and on either the left or right edge, depending on your handedness.

Thanks. I was looking for an arrow next to the tool icon, but it's on the middle of the screen that's to the left of tools :-) I was just taking the answer literally - English isn't my mother language :-)

Hi JensLundin,
With this option enabled there is an additional white arrow that appears to the left of tools such as the rectangle tool or on the selection tool that will display the on-screen modifier keys available for the selected tool.
Sorry, but I'm still not able to see what you refers to - please see picture attached?

I already have touch for gestures enabled - other apps have several options for setting palm rejection handling - if Photo is ment to be “one setting fits all” it will only suit people targeted for this selected setting...
Thanks.
