    Hi @fde101,
I have used the Affinities since 2016, and in each release, I waited for this BASIC feature. I disagree with you. It is not a matter of priorities or team size. If they only assigned this task to one person to work on it part-time, they would have something by now; after six years! Every simple app right now supports both directions. For god’s sake, Tom Hanks’ typewriter app even has R-to-L! When Procreate adds the text feature, it supports both directions. So it is not that hard.
I can’t accept that they can’t add this; they don’t want to add it. And that’s fine, just tell us so that we won’t waste our time here.
And we really should ask Apple how they gave an “Editor’s Choice” title to the app that is missing an essential and simple feature. Maybe we should give the Affinities app a one-star rate so they start listening to us.

    Hi,
It would be cool if you can update the Device Presets with new devices (actual ones)

Thank you So much, @walt.farrell. It was a font issue. I changed the font, and all errors are gone.
The font didn't have any Latin characters.

Those messages should mean that you are using characters not supported by the Al Nile font.
    Please try this:
Put the text cursor in a word that gets that error. Confirm that the Font field in the Context Toolbar says Al Nile. Use the menu Text > Show Glyph Browser. Verify that the Glyph Browser also says it's showing that font. See what characters (glyphs) the font contains. Give us a screenshot showing that if it's not self-explanatory.

Since we are there, here someone applied the squared style to Latin letters. https://thign.de/en/latin-square-kufic-script-in-use/
As not being able to read Arabic letters I wonder whether this English examples require more fantasy to get read successfully than general artistic Arabic calligraphy,   respectively squared Kufic text in particular only?

Thank you, everyone. Those links work and not work. But they are helpful (I attached the screenshot). I asked Affinity about this in Twitter and this is their response: "These will require a major rewrite of the code base so at the moment there are no plans to introduce right to left text support but we may introduce this in the future." and when I asked why this feature has a low priority, they said: "It's a complex feature to add to our apps but it's on our developers todo list for the future. When we have an update, we'll let everyone know." So, I don't think they will add this feature soon. I switched from Adobe to Affinity in 2016 and it's a little sad to see they still keep us waiting. I hope they add it soon!

Chances are there will not be until it shows up in a beta.  The 1.8 betas are known to be late in their development cycle and this has not shown up, so chances are it won't be happening in the 1.8 releases.  That is as much as anyone outside of Serif is going to be able to tell you, and Serif probably won't tell you any more either until they are ready to release it.

    Hello,

one of the basic features is still not there: find and replace for text. Please, implement it in the next versions. Thank you very much.
