Yes, that is why I mentioned a bitmap fill needs to get adjusted if the aspect ratio of its parent object gets changed. As you might have noticed, the interface for this image fill feature is rather limited, for instance you can't set the bitmap's size numerically but via dragging handles only. Thus it can be difficult to work precisely.
Nevertheless, it may be worth to discuss or ask Serif in a bug report whether the existing aspect ratio lock should be maintained when the tool gets switched and the parent object gets resized. Currently this lock appears to work only with the Fill Tool – but not as a permanent setting for the filling image.
A workaround could be to create an object with bitmap fill in a much larger size + then crop the wanted area with an additional layer (e.g. picture frame or clipping rectangle) for the desired use to avoid any auto-influence of the aspect ratio of the bitmap fill. For instance:

I think this is how a bitmap fill are expected / coded to work 'by design'. It may require adjustment of its fill properties with a change of its parent object, regardless of its initial "Extend" setting and of a use as style.
Is there a reason / advantage that you don't use a Picture Frame as parent or a clipping rectangle as child instead of a bitmap fill?

Reinstalling does not necessarily remove / replace all related system files, (e.g. your custom settings incl. temp & autosave in your user library APub folder, the folder "com.seriflabs.affinitypublisher.savedState", the file "com.seriflabs.affinitypublisher.appinfo", …)

Do you mean with unplugged / deactivated network even locally stored files load obviously faster?
Could it be possible that the app is 'searching' for a missing resource that got linked from a network drive before? Or, oddly, could still have an outdated file path stored within the layout document? To avoid the latter it might help to "Save As…" the document with a different file name to get rid of unnecessary data in the saved document.

This enables you to easily recreate the folder before the change.

You can achieve this with a saved Character Style applied to the "First Word".
For easier handling / frequent use it may help to activate the Paragraph Style property "Initial Words". – Unfortunately then some of the interface indicators can mislead, even if only those text is selected that got this paragraph property & character style applied.

Good point, yes, I was wrong before. So it appears both types (path text | shape text) behave in the same ways: a.) Their parametric handles are maintained as text frames and b.) both result in a "Curve(s)" object if 're-'converted.
Thus it may need more specification by @MikeTO to the mentioned difference (which I can't confirm) …

As workaround you can undock the desired panel first + choose hide left/right studio (assign shortcuts if wanted) to get the undocked panel(s) only.

It works for me In V1 with a "Shape Text" layer, too – while both types don't return to an initial parametric shape object (e.g. "Cog") but to a "Curve" object

It works for me with a Wacom pen. Make sure you use the Vector Brush Tool (not Pen / Pencil) + have the "Controller" activated in the Context Toolbar.

I haven't doe yet but I recall V2 would ask the user during or after installation whether V1 preferences should get transferred to V2. This can't work of course if you installed V2 without having V1 installed.
You could try to copy your V1 assets.propcol into the according folder of V2 and see if it works (and remove them if not). As far I know it is not documented yet by Serif what user preferences of V1 are fully compatible + work reliable if copied to V2.
Possibly a V2 user will pop-in and tell the correct, official workflow.

Use the "Time Machine" menu (in your main menu bar) for accessing ("open") + restoring a certain file of your backups. Therefore it helps to first open in a Finder window that folder which contains/ed the file version you want to replace. Note, the app file and your Affinity user preferences are stored at different locations and thus require separate steps to get restored.

There are quite a few oil painting effects available online. Usually these painting effects are effects only and they affect an entire image – unless you mask individually which may be quite time consuming for an 'authentic' result. Digital oil painting effects often use one brush size and create a more impressionistic look (like late 19th / early 20th century). In my understanding it does not matter whether such an effect gets applied to a photo or scan or a digital illustration, the difference may be more influenced by the amount of existing details and the image size (resolution).
'Classical' oil paintings were quite naturalistic (a substitute for photography, not invented yet) and used brushes of different shapes & sizes and thus created fine details (e.g. eyes, hair, lips) combined with more abstract areas (e.g. knobs, background), for instance:
Apart from that it seems your selected motif initially wasn't an oil painting but rather a lithograph that got water colourized later. Thus the details appear as black lines (drawn, not painted) and are rather equally spread. (Right-Click the image below to open it in a separate browser tab + zoom in to various areas, the clothing in particular):
For an individual title image it may be interesting to try one of the available digital image creators that are based on artificial intelligence. Since Napoleon images and history is quite known to the data base you could get appealing results.

As said, I think they do exist digitally and thus might be available for download, somewhere. Assuming you have dictionaries as supplements for a certain language in mind (instead of installing dictionaries for currently not existing language on your computer), I think there are two ways for example:
• In macOS custom dictionary files get stored in your user library > spelling folder. There you can add a plain text file with any content that will be used for custom spell check (like "Learned" in Affinity). – This recent thread shows details about the related folder & files in macOS (… I don't know how Windows handles dictionaries and custom spelling additions or exceptions):
• In the thread below it appears David managed to make Affinity use an English merged with a Dutch dictionary, simply by adding the two 'NL' files (.aff / .dict) into the English dictionary folder of Affinity in Windows:

In this case you can type the additional character(s) before typing capital letters, at least to exclude them from hyphenation with an additional soft hyphen before.
For spell check there might be text files for download and use as your custom dictionary file. FWIW, usually cache files aren't backuped by Time Machine and you can get some used disk space back if you interrupt the local snapshots for 24 hours + then reboot your mac in Save Boot Mode (which cleans some caches).
Curios: What was the reason to do a clean install of Ventura first if you wanted to get Sonoma actually?

Du kannst ein Pixel-Bild mit einer Sonderfarbe einfärben wenn du für das Bild "K Only" aktivierst. Wie @NotMyFault erwähnt, spielen dabei die Helligkeitswerte des Bildes eine Rolle, d.h. für 100% Pantone braucht das Bild mit aktiviertem K-Only entsprechend 100% Schwarz.
