Pauls got a reaction from MikeTO in Affinity Publisher 2.0.3 on Mac ; simple question… or not ?
the 6.4mm is coming from a list tab stop indent; how that got there I have no idea. You can reset it for that frame by setting the text to a list (Bullets and Numbering) - altering the tabstop value then setting it back to no list.

If all your text frames are like this then once you have the frame as it should be perform a save defaults comand

You're aware that you can convert hundreds of text objects objects with just one keyboard shortcut?
    No clicks necessary.
Select all text objects in the document (Select > Select Object > Art/Frame Text) Hide them Duplicate all, keep duplicates selected Unhide the duplicates Convert the duplicates to curves All these commands are accessible in menus, customizable via keyboard shortcuts.
    No click necessary.
Additionally you may want to make use of named objects or layer tags for quick selection of specific objects.
You should definitely get a 3rd party macro utility.
On Mac, I'm using Keyboard Maestro.
While Affinity apps aren't officially scriptable (yet), some script support is available out of the box via MacOS UI scripting. That involves all keyboard shortcuts or selecting menu commands, to a certain limited degree even clicking UI elements in the window.
For instance, I'm often using a Keyboard Maestro macro via keyboard shortcut that will click the layer name input field for me, based on my canvas object selection, so that I can type in a name right away, without having to click anything:

aff_km_macro_click_layer_name.mp4 Similar macros can speed up your repetitive workflows.
    Make use of such helpers!

I can confirm that the problem does not exist in the beta. So we just need to wait for the new version.

Pauls reacted to MikeTO in Trackpad Pinch to Zoom Gets Unresponsive
I'm sorry that you're dealing with this bug and I empathize with you but there's nothing any Mac developer can do.
Here's how the pinch to zoom gesture works: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/touches_presses_and_gestures/handling_uikit_gestures/handling_pinch_gestures
Gestures are a type of event and as with other events, application can listen for them and then execute code when they are notified the event has occurred. Gestures are contiguous - they have a start and continue as the gesture continues - the bug in macOS is that the system isn't notifying apps that the gesture has started. Affinity doesn't even know you're using the trackpad.
You might want to try Pinch, a tiny app a developer created to fix the problem.

    Ok.
    Thank you.
The strange thing is with the previous version everything was ok.
The good thing is that at least with PDF/X4 the export is correct.
    have a nice day

Pauls reacted to SrPx in Crashes within 5 seconds of launching: affecting all V2 Suite apps
Are those 5 seconds (seems tight to be able to do it) enough for you to set "hardware acceleration - open cl" as non checked, off, but actually exit normally the app? As a crash avoids saving any preference setting. People are reporting more crashes and issues with Open CL than with memory allocated (but it can be an issue in very low memory (ie, a 4gb RAM laptop) cases or misconfiguration).  Also, showing preferences-> Performance, and preferences-> tools screenshots here could be very helpful. Specially as that's a system (unless you left some detail out) with no card, it's using the integrated CPU graphics. Also, how much RAM has got your system (to compare to what's set on preferences, etc). Windows tells you that in Windows Settings-> System-> About (it even tells you how much memory is really allocated and how much is reserved. Usually not a prob with intel). Another setting interesting to check (again, if fast enough to exit normally so that the setting is saved)  is to set the renderer as WARP, instead of your integrated graphics. If it stops then crashing, that fact gives valuable info.
If it's crashing, it's not saving the preference, so, another way to avoid the Open CL issues is to directly launch Affinity without Open CL, like recommended here:

you can try setting the renderer ( Performance/preferences) to WARP which may prevent the freezing, or if you have an integrated GPU try that

If it crashes in seconds and have never been able to exit normally, then the no-open cl setting is not saved; preferences seem to need a successful exit to be saved. There is a way to launch Affinity apps without open cl, for these cases (among others) :

OK - After many, many, many tries I got what I needed for KDP (AND - the thumbnail on Amazon paperback looks good).  I used these exact settings in the pictures for a flattened RGB. Start with PDF > PDF (Flatten) and then change options as below pics.  FYI - my document resolution was 400 dpi while keeping template size accurate.

If you want an RGB pdf dont use an X profile - I dont think PDF/X is a LuLu requirement either

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

I managed to solve this problem by uninstalling my GPU drivers (non WHQL) and i installed WHQL drivers instead. Since that it works just fine.

Hello, I have been looking at this lately and I believe you are good to go.

I'll give you and example. I can have an Epson EcoTank printer where I have paper profiles that show up in the RGB color space Printer Profile: drop down area. The thing is I do not have to select it from there because the printer driver handles all of those routines. Selecting the paper option in the printer settings is the same thing. That is where the real power is (in the printer settings). The printer's driver options of course are accessed through the Properties button in the print dialog. And there, within the printer settings I would select the paper and print. If you are working in sRGB space for example you can leave it like this:
Printer Profile: sRGB IE1966-2.1 with paper's profile selected through the in the printer's settings via the "Properties" button in the Print dialog.
I know that your printer can do amazing things in simulating offset printing routines.
In "Printer profile:" you would usually put an ICC profile that has a description of the printers model number  that you are using for example
Printer Profile:ET-4760. If you do not have a Printer Profile you can just leave it at Printer Profile:sRGB IE2966-2.1(my color working space) in this example.
Here is a snapshot of an OKI user/operator's settings from one of the Adobe apps. Notice that Printer Profile: is set to Adobe RGB (1998). Be careful with this because Adobe RGB is different from sRGB type and will produce different colors. You have to know what your working color space is. As an alternative I believe that you can export that PDF and use the PCL printer driver  that is if you are working in Windows while printing your exported PDF from Adobe Acrobat to run your simulated offset press routine.
I believe that the Printer Profile: feature was not being use properly in V1 and was not meant to be used that way. That profile is a different color space from what your printer data is receiving via that print path, and if used incorrectly could have been causing incorrect color output as resulted in some of my print tests in Affinity V1 using my inkjet printer and printing directly to PDF would at times result  in "color errors" where my paper printout looked different from what I was seeing in my monitor.
I believe that everything can be done in Affinity V2.0.3 once you understand these concepts.
Printing directly to the printer is different form associating an CMYK profile to a PDF that is going to be sent to a RIP. Those are two different workflows.
What you are doing in the OKI printer is a simulated SWOP CMYK offset press where the printer does its own "recipe"  for printing in CMYK.

perfect - as I understand our workflow is rgb based so I would guess converting your document to the relevant CMYK profile then prining that using a printer profile (or sRGB) should give close to the previous results.

Sorry to step on your toes but I believe this is actually a known bug with the Hyperlink Properties dialog. I added a link to one of the threads below.
@tatanka There is no workaround but this is harmless. Just pick the first copy of the style from the list but if you mistakenly pick the second or third one it won't make a difference. Where you may run into issues is if you have two documents with different style sheets open and switch between them. In that case the list will start to combine styles from both documents into the list and you don't want to choose a style from the wrong document. The only workaround for now is to restart Publisher to clear the list in this window.
