Pauls reacted to R C-R in Publisher asks me for a later version but I have the latest
I think what we want to know is if it was saved on the internal startup drive, to a cloud server or what.

Pauls reacted to Daniel Gibert in Publisher not updating linked PDFs when externaly modified, document corrupted if saved without updating it.
linkin-crash.mp4 At your command. I have made the same test in all four macs with the same result. It is always saving the files to Dropbox in external drive. Hope you can find it useful.

Pauls got a reaction from Daniel Gibert in Publisher not updating linked PDFs when externaly modified, document corrupted if saved without updating it.
WIth my Internal dropbox setup the initial update is not spotted (bug). I do get a prompt when reopening the file that the resource has changed, I'll now attempt to recreate what you are seeing the external drive may well be a factor

More advances in the possible resolution of the issue
After much more experimenting, the culprit has been cornered!
IT IS THE (insert swear word here) DROPBOX
It is Dropbox that it is causing the issues with the files. Saving and linking files from a Dropbox folder in an external disk causes all the issues. Linking from the same drive outside a dropbox folder works perfectly.
It occurs that in all my computers, we save the work to Dropbox in an external drive. This is why the issue is happening.
It is an incompatibility with Dropbox. One that does not happen on v1, but it is present on v2. I know that Dropbox integration has been added to v2 (And I have it active) so there is obviously something wrong with it.
So i'll rewrite the steps to reproduce it:
Make a publisher document and save it to Dropbox in an external drive. Crete a designer figure and export to PDF on Dropbox on a external drive. Place the PDF on the Publisher document and save Modify the figure in Designer and export again, replacing the initial PDF In publisher, PDF does not update, and does not show update option in resource manager (Publisher totally ignores the PDF had been modified) Move the placed PDF around the publisher document, or make any other change, and save (So it is saved without updating the pdf preview) Reopen the publisher document: You get an error that it is saved with a more recent version of Publisher (Which does not make any sense at all). File has been ruined and can't be recovered. Repeat the process in the same external drive but outside of Dropbox and it works fine.
At this time I don't have any device with Dropbox over internal disk to check. All my setups are over external drive. Can anyone check it?

It could be related to the fallback font problem also.

Pauls reacted to Phishion in translate error with Chinese
I found an obvious problem in Chinese translation. The English version of this function is called Primary Color & Secondary Color, and Adobe PS is called Foreground color & Background Color, but the Chinese version is obviously wrong. I have marked it in the picture.
Translation suggestions:
Fill With Primary Color -> 以主要颜色填充
Fill With Secondary Color -> 以次要颜色填充

Pauls reacted to ashf in Menu name on Home screen is cut off
The translation of the Live Docs on the home screen is cut off in Japanese UI.
It should be ライブドキュメント
You can insert a line break like below if it does not fit in a singe line.
ライブ
ドキュメント
or these words instead
作業中 or 製作中 = working on

You both could try this two solutions:

The access key for the View menu is not intuitive on Windows.
It should be 表示(V) instead of 表示

Pauls reacted to ashf in Suggestions for Japanese UI
Suggestion for the print dialog
Layout>Model
Tiled = タイル, タイル(プリント可能範囲) or 分割
N-Up = Nアップ, タイル(用紙サイズ) or 複数ページ
Adobe uses タイル(プリント可能範囲) for Tiled and タイル(用紙サイズ) for N-Up.
Current translation タイル付き, 北を上に doesn't make sense.

Suggestion for the Paragraph panel (and Text Styles > Paragraph)
Alignment = 行揃え
Space Before Paragraph = 段落前のスペース
Space After Paragraph = 段落後のスペース

Pauls reacted to James Ritson in Affinity Photo Live Stream 04: Astrophotography Stacking & Editing
Hey all, just wanted to give you a heads-up that tomorrow (Thursday May 26th) I'll be doing an Affinity Photo live stream and it's going to be an astrophotography special. Even if you're not interested in astrophotography, it may be worth a watch anyway as I'll be covering techniques that could be applicable to other workflows. It's also a chance just to have a good geek-out!
I'm really looking forward to it. Please do feel free to come along and interact in the chat if you're interested, it would be lovely to spot some familiar usernames 😉
Here's the link, you can also set a reminder ahead of 4pm tomorrow:
Thanks,
James

Pauls reacted to Dennison in Crash when exporting to PDF (split)
Thank you! Problem solved - document now exports.
I changed all mitres to 4 and also reentered the text with Text tool - it had been entered with Artistic.
Thank you so much for your swift troubleshooting.

Pauls reacted to Dennison in Crash when exporting to PDF (split)
Thank you. I will make the suggested changes and let you know.
Yes, those images may have started on Inkscape - before I discovered Affinity and moved over. I've been steadily re-working all the images. The new book I am currently developing already has 1200 images created in AD and laid out in AP. I can't praise and thank Serif enough!
many thanks,
Den

Suggestion for the "Text as Curve" in Export > PDF > Export Settings > Embed fonts
テキストをカーブに変換
or
カーブに変換
Current translation ( 曲線状のテキスト ) sounds like text on a path.

Pauls got a reaction from Nef in Failed to save document
I would try doing a full disk check to make sure your Hard disc is functioning correctly.
For the utility you can simply save the file and send it me If you encounter any further problems

Pauls got a reaction from ashf in Black fill color will be omitted on SVG export
I've added this report to an existing one - however the problem may well be with the viewers, Which ones are causing problems?

Pauls reacted to Alfred in English options in Language dropdown for German online Help
Go to https://affinity.help/publisher/de.lproj
Expected: Language dropdown shows options in German.
Observed: Language dropdown shows options in English.
The same bug is evident in the German online Help for Designer and Photo. All of the other dropdowns (e.g. at https://affinity.help/designer/es.lproj) show correctly localized options.
