So close to using Affinity Designer as my go-to, but instead still using Fireworks day to day. I am strictly a developer and receive files (mostly PSDs) of all shapes and sizes from many different designers. They are rarely created in such a way that I can simply export layers, etc. I need the ability to create slices manually.
The slicing tools in Affinity Designer are close, and honestly I LOVE the interface for exporting the slices in different sizes, etc. But there are a few capabilities that are missing that really set Fireworks apart:
- The ability to nudge slices using the arrow keys.
- The ability to actually copy slices and then paste them within a document, or even into a different document.
- It shouldn't be possible to create a slice outside of the canvas. Clicking and dragging above and to the left of the canvas should set the top left corner of the slice to the top left corner of the canvas.
- Finally, the ability to add a color to the slice in the UI so that its visually a little easier to distinguish between where there are slices and where there are not. (Fireworks uses a green tint)
As it stands, Fireworks is starting to struggle mightily on my Mac. It crashes regularly as I try to navigate the file system both when I'm saving and when I'm importing. So time is running out. HOPING that Affinity Designer can finally transition me away from Fireworks (and Adobe) for good!
