  1. Maybe this question has been covered somewhere else but I could not find it. Is there a way to combine several curve adjustments made to a single image (jpeg) in order to improve the dynamic range (HDR effect) of that image? in other words, in one adjustment, I optimize shadow detail, while in another curve adjustment, I optimize highlight detail, etc. I know you can try to do that with a single curve but sometimes, if there are a lot of small adjustments, it is easier to create several curves to address different tonal areas. I would like to know if there is a way to combine the adjustments so they don't cancel each other out? Or if there is another technique that I can use to obtain the same result with a single image. Thanks.

  2. Hi, I have tried unsuccessfully to use the "command + hide" to hide a selection within my affinity photo window and all I get is that the affinity application itself hides. I have tried reprogramming the command for hiding within affinity with other options but it does not work. I have even tried to reprogram the OS X command hide shortcut so it does not mean hide and I still can't make it work within affinity. I happen to use a hispanic keyboard and I have tried switching to an English keyboard layout and it doesn't work. Am I missing something? All I want to do is find a way to create a keyboard shortcut for hiding the current selection (for example, the selection brush tool within affinity when I need to). Any suggestions??

  3. Maybe this is not news, but I found out that instead of dodging and burning directly on the background layer, you can create a new pixel layer and use the paint brush (white or black) with varying degrees of opacity to dodge or burn (instead of using the dodge and burn tool). This way, the changes can be easily reversed or cancelled. Unfortunately, no amount of burning seems to make any difference on clipped highlights. I assume because there is no information whatsoever. Is the only solution to darken clipped highlights, to recolor them??

  4. I also found the video useful and I am wondering whether there is a way in Affinity Photo to have more than one layer window open at the same time like they have on the Lightroom video. For example, the Levels adjustment and the Contrast adjustment? That way you can tinker with both sets of adjustments in the same window without having to switch back and forth. Is there a way right now to do that??

  5. From what I have tried so far, the suggestion proposed by MBd seems to be the easiest. I found that when you create a metaselection to move one of the underlying selections, you have to make sure the metaselection is larger than the underlying selection. Otherwise it messes up the underlying selection. Still, I do think there should be a simpler way of moving each selection independently by clicking a keyboard key or creating an additional option under Mode that allows you to switch between moving the selections together or independently.

  6. Hi, as far as I know, at this time when I draw two marquee tools over the eyes of a subject in order to change their color, and then I want to reposition slightly just one of the marquee selections, they both move at the same time. Someone in the forum was kind enough to point out a way of moving one selection independently, but frankly it is a rather complicated way of doing something that should be very simple to do. In brief, my suggestion is to create a way to quickly uncouple 2 or more selections in order to be able to move them independently. Thanks!

  7. Hi, I have tried using the elliptical marquee tool to change eye colors but after I create the selections for both eyes, I am unable to reposition one of the selections independently of the other. They both move together. The reason being that I am not always able to draw both circles perfectly over the eyes, so I may have to reposition one of them slightly but not the other. I have tried several things but without success. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

  9. Hi, I am trying out Affinity Photo at this point and I am confused about the following: I am under the impression that the Develop Persona is only for RAW files. If that is so, how come there is a Develop extension for the OS X Photo app which I have used successfully to work on TIFF and JPEG flies? Does that mean that I can also use the Develop Persona in Affinity to work on JPEG or TIFF files? If so, is there be any advantage in doing that? Moreover, if you are working on a RAW file in Affinity, do you necessarily need to edit the photo first in the Develop Persona before you can edit it in the Photo Persona? Thanks in advance for your help with this question.
