bluewave reacted to Hokusai in Tribute to the Aztecs
Thought I'd share a project that I have been working on. I have always been fascinated with Meso-American cultures and their art and after reading Jo-Jo's Bizarre Adventures I couldn't help but make my own version. Oddly Matt Groening's work reminds me a lot of Aztec art but maybe that's just me. I made it using Affinity Designer and all vectors. Thanks for taking the time to view my work and I hope that you enjoy it.

Good morning everyone!
I'm new to the forum, my name is Judith Vidal and I'm a concept artist.
I've been using affinity photo for a few months for everything that is concept and illustration and this is one of the results of the experience, I hope you like it.
You can see more work on my instagram:

bluewave got a reaction from StuartRc in Fun with Greek Patterns (possible 'symbols' feature request)
Hi,
Agree with @Slammer, a slippery slope but very good for familiarising yourself with Affinity and inspiration for larger projects.
On the subject of Greek patterns, I recently created my version of a cover of a game called Agon. (https://rpggeek.com/rpgitem/292344/agon-2nd-edition)
I created a few Greek Raster Pattern brushes. I will upload them to the resources if anyone wants them, when I figure out how to do one of those brush sheets that everyone seems to use.

Had fun playing with the symbols feature I did this little Peloponnesian sketch.
I would like to manipulate every other 'spiral' in two separate symbol groups. So is it possible way to separate some symbols but keep the separated ones linked so I can edit both groups later.
(for example create a alternating convex and concave curve on the outside of the pattern )
If anyone wants to use this for a project feel free. it only took a few minutes to create. I just wanted to test the feature.

I fancied doing something shiny, not too easy but not too complicated either, 2 weeks max, so decided to see if I could get this done. Shame it turned out to be such a horrible movie. There was too much background on the photo I used so I cropped it to something a bit more interesting.
Who needs fancy pants gradient meshes when there’s the pen tool
Sorry about the equally horrible compression.

Some of the illustrations I've done for the game Urban Cards.
Oper: The most expensive real estate in the city. Where the tall shiny towers can blind your eyes, and the expensive scent can make you sneeze. Here you walk into echoing halls and amass a fortune with the tried and true methods of speculation and insider trading. This is the realm of the millionaire CEO, the walking suit and the smile of a lending shark.
Akibara: The technology valley controlled by gamers, hackers, and neon lights. People walking around with cybernetic enhancements, a faint glow coming from the windows of gamers expending endless hours playing competitive games online. This is the birthplace of new tech and the apps that rule us, of electronic beats and coding poetry. This is the playground for tinkerers, digital artists, modellers of the third dimension. This is where bitcoin fortunes are made with other people's data, this is where big brother comes to watch.

What do you think? Does anyone else use a base color and then use black or white with lower opacity for shadows or highlights? Wondering if this is the best way or not.

Just finished today. Just for fun i thought drawing a really old bike would be easier than some of the later ones, and in some ways it was, and in others it wasn't. Still keeps me occupied lol.
