FMA got a reaction from Tori in How to blend multiple images?
I've read similar questions to this, but my question refers to blending side by side images together, and/or blending one or more images onto a background (not using blending modes). In other words, blending the edges with the other photo or background

For instance in Photoshop, you use the gradient tool (black to transparent) to blend all edges of one photo that you have placed onto another photo to blend the edges seamlessly.

I haven't found a good way to do this with Affinity Photo or Design.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Understood, but why is Shutterstock the only one available now? What happened to the other two?

I'm "reasonably" familiar with the use of brushes in Affinity, but I suspect i am only tapping the surface of how they can be used.  Does anyone know of any tutorials or articles that address this?

I'm looking for material that helps stimulate my creativity as much as I am in increasing specific skills.  So I guess I'd be open to elearning sources for software other than Affinity Photo so long as what is taught can be applied to Affinity Photo.

FMA reacted to hlarledge in very bad jpeg quality in Wordpress - why is that?
I am seeing this same problem in relation to preparing files for 500px and Facebook. Basically, the export quality is always less than Photoshop, Alien Skin Exposure, and other tools I've tested.

Additionally, I exported as a TIFF with no compression, then opened the file in Photoshop. In Photoshop, I exported to JPG and the same blocky jagged pixelation appeared in the same area of the image as the AP export. So the problem may lie not in the JPG export but somewhere else in Affinity Photo.

I also would love to be able to open up the hundreds of .pat pattern files I have created in Photoshop and use them in Aff-Photo or Aff-Designer.

Hi, thank you for the reply.  Shame you can't do this as this is an essential feature for me.

    Hi,

Is it possible in Affinity Photo to create (or even better import) .pat files as in Photoshop?

I have a library created on a windows machine in Photoshop within .pat file.
I use this when I wish to 'fill' a selected area.
Is it posible to do this with Affinity Photo?

I hope my question is clear but if not please ask and I will try to explain myself better.

    Thank you for reading

Make an object w. a fill. Make sure it is selected. Click on the gradient fill tool. Open up the "type" list, and choose bitmap. Find the image you want to use, and select it. Then use Add style from selection. I think the crucial step is using the gradient tool to link to the image. In most cases, the "Make style from selection is after fills and blend modes are used w/o using the gradient tool.

You must import the unzipped .afstyles files into the Styles panel. You can't open them directly into the app. To do this, on the Styles panel, click on the three line 'hamburger' icon & select "Import Styles Category..." In the open file window that pops up, navigate to the unzipped .afstyles file, select it, & click the Open button.

FMA reacted to Bmuse in Photoshop layer styles -- any way to convert?
    Hello!

I saw in another post that Affinity Photo can't import Photoshop styles (.asl).  Two questions, if I may:

    1.  Is this ability planned for the future?
    2.  Is there any other way to get PS layer styles into Affinity Photo?

Worst-case, if I create a bunch of objects with the layer styles in Photoshop, then import that file into Affinity Photo, will I be able to define Affinity styles from the objects?

    Thanks very much!

Thanks for your quick response R -R!

I am looking for a way to let the photos flow into each other on the adjacent side. Like in the picture below.

I looked for information on overlapping / blending but only got how-tos on stacking images.
