I'm having the same problem... and tried all of the suggestions, but none seems to work. I don't work on documents that reside on the network. All my documents are local. I am connected to a network drive though when in the office, but obviously when I'm at a client, I don't have access to the office network anymore. Resetting recent documents, either in macos, or in the ctrl-reset dialog, does nothing for me, Affinity apps just hang and spit out the mentioned dialog every minute or so. I also tried clicking ok for 3 hours today, but in the end I gave up. I even tried to run Onyx and restarted the mac several times. I have recent documents set to 0 in macos, and inside affinity "Reopen documents on startup" is unchecked... I'm at a complete loss here, there is no reason why affinity applications need to access my network drive. Please Affinity, chime in here and help us out. I'd even welcome a brute force way of editing plist files or something unorthodox... ANY help is welcome. Edit : I just noticed that the ctrl-reset trick only seems to actually do something when the network drive is available. If not, the recent files list stays populated. It is also strange that there are 2 seperate recent files lists. One in the File menu, "Open recent" which seems to be handled by macos... and another seperate list inside the open / new document dialog. The latter needs to be reset with the ctrl-reset dialog, but as said, this only empties the list when the network drive is actually available... back to square one. So when working at a clients place I need to remind myself to bring the nas... even though I only work on local documents...

Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched but could not find an answer. I currently have a few lines to which I have applied "arrowheads" start and end (actually I used circles instead of arrowheads..) and now I am trying to "flatten" the design. However, I am unable to convert to curves (a stroke is already a curve) and when I choose "expand stroke", the stroke itself is expanded as expected, however the arrow ends have vanished... is this expected behaviour ? Is there any way I can achieve this simple task ?

1.8.3 Save and Save As seem to be broken
Pete123 replied to Pete123's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
Just a quick follow up. It seems that my problem was to blame at Apple raid. I use a few RAID 0 striped sets, and even in Finder I noticed laggy performance, while the raid set should have 6000mb+ read and write speeds. I have now switched over to softraid, and performance seems to be more reliable. So please ignore my previous message. -
I've seen this mentioned in the Publisher and Photo forums too, this is now happening for me with Designer. I have a document (+/- 80mb) that I'm trying to save, and the save progress bar just stays idle. I've left it for 15 minutes, but my documents aren't saving anymore. I need to force quit the application, (the application does stay responsive though). During the save-freeze, I see no disk activity at all (I use istat menus), and Designer does have access to my SSD. It seems that I now also cannot relaunch designer anymore... I'll try a reboot and see if that fixes things...

TAB key to next input field broken in 1.8.3
Pete123 replied to Pete123's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
This is really odd. Today it seems to work fine. Don't know what went wrong yesterday. Anyway, I only type numbers and tab... no enter key. I'll keep an eye on this and see if it pops up again -
I just noticed something annoying.. When changing colors of any object, I usually type in values for R,G and B, going from input field to input field with the TAB key... But now it seems that the color tool looses it's focus after tabbing, meaning, when I fill the first value in the Red input field, then TAB to go to Green, Designer looses focus of the field, and now my TAB key works on the interface, and hides/shows all my pallettes. This is a bit frustrating, and I would be greatfull if you could fix this please...

Hard Crash When Searching Fonts (v1.8, MacOS 10.15.3)
Pete123 replied to mediumcheese's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
Hi Sean, A screencast, as well as the crash log is attached here. I am using the plain macOS Font Book, as seen in the screencast, with close to 300 fonts installed. This is 1.8.1 (all apps crash for me, photo designer and publisher). Yesterday, the apps would crash as soon as I started typing in the font list, today it took some effort... so it seems to get better with time :-) I hope the crash log points to something conclusive. This is on a 2019 Mac Pro, 12core 3.3Ghz, 48GB ram, Radeon VII GPU Screen_Recording_2020-02-28_at_09_28_04.mov Affinity Designer_2020-02-28-092855_Mac-Pro-2019.crash -
Just a question out of interest. Users who have Publisher and Designer/Photo, do you still launch those apps individually, or do you use Publisher as the main app and use StudioLink ? I have all three, and I seem to have stuck in launching them individually, but I am thinking that might not be the most efficient way. otoh, when using Publisher mainly, I seem to have lost all the persona's (panormam, develop, slicing/export...) is there a way to access those when using StudioLink ?

StudioLink not working 1.8.0 (version discrepancy)
Pete123 replied to Pete123's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
Yes indeed, I just updated with the "check for updates" function. Thanks. Glad that the Designer/Photo StudioLink versions do not have the crashing bug when searching in the font list. -
I have and use all 3 Affinity apps, Photo, Designer and Publisher. Due to bugs I updated to version 1.8.1 this morning for Designer and Photo, but Publisher is still at version 1.8.0 and now the StudioLink won't work because of the version mismatch. Will we get a Publisher 1.8.1 soon ?

Hard Crash When Searching Fonts (v1.8, MacOS 10.15.3)
Pete123 replied to mediumcheese's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
I can reproduce this any time. First I type some text in the document, and then I try to change the font. When searching in the font list, upon the second character I enter in the search field, Designer crashes. (Photo too, Publisher seems to work fine). This happens since version 1.8, and I just updated to 1.8.1 and the same bug is still present. I am on macOS 10.15.3 and both versions come from the Appstore, if that matters. -
I would really love to have a function to search layers by name. I often have to deal with documents that have close to 100 layers (don't ask, they are provided by the client this way), and digging through the list of layers is insanely time consuming. The dark side has had this function for ages, and I understand that this might not be easy to implement, but this would make my job so much easier, so therefor this feature request.

I just noticed a UI bug with the colour panel in Designer 1.7.1 The colour picker area is placed over the sliders, making them inaccessible. This only happens when I select RGB. All the other colour panels work fine. This also happens when I detach the colour panel from the right studio. Sorry if this was already reported, I searched, but couldn't find any mention of this.

While I do appreciate the help given, it is not what I have asked. Twice, I have mentioned that I am on macOS, which is the fruit logo'd computer that does not run Windows. I know how to choose profiles in all Affinity products, and how to select them on output. My question was : where do I add the icc profile in macOS so that it becomes available inside the Affinity suite ? Sorry if I was not clear enough..
-
Yes, I know how to export a PDF and change settings, but I can't seem to add any custom icc profiles. I'm on macOS, and there is the colorsync utility, and also folders where display icc profiles seem to live... but if I drop this print icc profile in that folder, it doesn't appear in publisher. The icc profile I'm supposed to use is ISOcoated_v2_300_eci.icc In the export dialog there is a ISOcoated v2, but I'm not sure if this profile is 300% or not.

The Shadows/Highlights Filter has changed (poorly)
Pete123 replied to ch22's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
I agree, For me, Capture One has always been the gold standard for shadow/highlight recovery. To be fair, the OP appears to be working on an 8bit file, which tends to bring out the milky look when recovering shadows/highlights. But fwiw, Affinity Photo has the same symptoms when working directly on a RAW file as demonstrated here. I'd love a better shadow/highlight tool in Affinity Photo. -
A small update to my original question. I now received the diagonal dimensions... I'm now trying to recreate the shape, but I'm still stumbling in Designer. Is there a way to snap to any place on a circle ? I'll try to embed a video. I've first drawn the base line (horizontal), then I've drawn a vertical line, and I've positioned a cricle that represents my first diagonal. Moved the rotation point on the vertical line, and now I'm trying to rotate the vertical so it snaps to the diagonal... but nothing is snapping. I've tried a few different settings in the snap tool, and would have thought that "snap to object geometry" would be perfect for this... but my circle is not snapping at all... The diagonals are 3027,4 and 3142,7 Sorry to bark on with this, but I'm trying to get a better understanding of how Designer works... designersnapcircle.mov

That's a bit scary... it is actually a Stonehenge exhibition that I'm working on... The "technical" drawings I received where off by 4mm to the dimensions they displayed, and I'm assured that the dimensions are correct, so I took the drawing that was sent to me and adjusted for the 4mm difference. I'm pretty confident everything will turn out right, it's just not the way I like to work... I'd rather be exact, hence why I would have liked to recreate the shape in Designer...
