Macoun got a reaction from xicus in Delete Selection [Affinity Photo]
I'm become crazy by a stupid simple task: How to delete something in an selection?
I've selected an area (Rect selection) that i want to delete. Then i press the delete key, but it deletes the complete layer!? I've searched in the Edit- and the Selection-Menu, but nothing. Then i use the help to search for delete, and it finds just the Delete Layer command? Searching for that term in google shows me al lot of impressive tricks, but not how to delete the content inside a simple selection.
So i switched to Pixelmator to do that in two seconds... - But that's insane, for such a basic function.
Where did you hide the simple delete function?

Macoun got a reaction from activivan in CSS Style Copy / Export
I wish to copy (or export) the style of an object as CSS.
For example: Like you can do it in Photoshop
...or within Sketch
...or in Autodesk Graphic / iDraw.

Macoun got a reaction from j0e.org in Export Preview
I strongly miss an export preview. Especially for JPG. But also for indexed PNG and all destructive exports.
Explanation:
JPG is for example a lossy compression. So exporting something as JPG changes the content. So more compressing means, more changes in the image.
For hat reason Photoshop has a split export preview. Pixelmators has a live realtime export preview. When you change the settings, you see instantly what you get and which file size it will have.
Screen recording for example. The file size is in the upper left corner:

Macoun reacted to tmarq in Recognizing commas as valid decimal separators
It seems to me that this is too much discussion over one simple thing… i've used adobe, macromedia and corel software in english using always comma to separate decimals. I don't understand what's the big deal here.
Please add an option on preferences, no?
Thanks

Macoun reacted to Marianna in Affinity ico
Just a tiny small UX thing - could affinity apps icons (on windows toolbar) have a first letter in them (P for Photo, D for Designer)? I find it realy confusing which icon is for which app.
Thanks for great work

Macoun got a reaction from Lapulyapa in Affinity Cutter (Premiere Killer)
I know there are a lot other construction sites you are working on. But maybe you're thinking about, what could we do in future... So this is just an Idea: "Affinity Cutter" the answer in digital movie cutting. The "Premiere Killer".

Macoun reacted to nod74 in Text Anti-aliasing Method
Totally agree! For UI Design it is absolutely necessary to have some pre-sets for Font-Antialiasing!

Macoun reacted to JDW in Text Anti-aliasing Method
I'm glad we agree, and thank you for the screenshot. There's much power in using OS X's Terminal too to accomplish various tasks in OS X, but arguably, it is a less intuitive and sometimes a slower approach that using the GUI. In like manner, fiddling with curves in AP only to eliminate text anti-aliasing is ridiculous.
Serif, please add a text anti-aliasing pop up to AP at the earliest possible time. Thanks.

Macoun reacted to Peter Werner in Photo Bug: Shortcuts for brush size on German keyboard
Agreed, this has been an issue in Photoshop for years. Ideally, these keys would be bound to the keyboard layout so that even when you're changing between different keyboard layouts a lot while the application is running (like say, German, US English and Japanese), these types of shortcuts will still function reasonably well and not suddenly become impossible to press.

Macoun reacted to Esteban in Recognizing commas as valid decimal separators
Just jumping in this old thread.
I thought it was in previous versions possible to use a comma as a decimal separator. But now (AD 1.5.4) I can only use period.
Is it a preference setting to use a comma as separator?
Thanks !

Macoun reacted to lkreusel in DPX file support
Hi,
I work in the film industry and DPX is a mainstay. Please consider adding DPX support as this will be extremely useful and will help to make Photo a good option for people moving away from PhotoShop.
Thanks,
Louis Kreusel

Macoun reacted to bpedit in Arrowheads please. . .
Wow! Affinity Designer looks very good from the git-go. It's fast, well organized and pleasant to use. The text handling has some excellent features already. Scrolling through the font menu and watching selected text change live, quite a treat.
The main addition it needs for me to replace AI is arrowheads. I don't need a lot of useless style options such as Adobe offers, just filled triangles that have some adjustment options.
• placeable on beziers as well as straight lines
• auto scale to line thickness
• user adjustable scale acting on default size (+% and -%, i.e.)
• user adjustable head angle (again, maybe relative to default)
And maybe, if not too much trouble:
• an option to have arrowhead extend line OR
have the line shorten to place the arrow tip at the end of the original segment.
Thanks for listening,
Byrne
[edit] P.S. Another discussion of arrowheads suggests ability to round corners. Not strictly necessary for me but nice. Acts on all three corners, maybe adjustable as a proportion of the arrowhead's size.
