  1. Same problem! Used appcleaner and emptied the trash. Made no difference. What do I do?? Suggest, instead of "by design" you and all Serif say deliberately. Then, I understand. Cheers David
  2. Lojza and harrym. inpainting did nothing. As if nothing happened. Clone tool was fine, and would rather use inpainting. As I wrote later on, leaving all parts of the procedure in 16 bit, inpainting did accomplish the task. Just what I wanted. harrym, resize in PS CS5 gives me finer control of resizing...than what I have learned in AF. Maybe some day I will learn to do the exact resizing in AF. Not today. I am not aware of AF having the capability to do gallery wrap..... Perfect Resize gives me the precise control I want! Hokusai. Good question. Glad you asked. I don't have an answer. Cheers to all. Sure glad I have AF ! ! ! ! !
  3. Interesting. inpainting did not work. History of what I have been doing. 1) original CR2 file opened and processed in AF 1.5.2 - beta 5. Sized. Exported. 2) tiff file final sizing in PS CS5. Saved. 3) tiff file given reflective borders for gallery wrap in Perfect Resize 8. Saved 4) tiff file opened again in AF. Made sure file was flattened. This is the point at which inpainting failed. Artist's name is duplicated twice at on the reflected sides. I used clone tool to eliminate the extra artist's name. How can I have AF to inpainting with my procedure? All suggestions appreciated Kind Regards, David MacBook Pro 8,3, OS 10.11.6, NEC MultiSync PA271w display for image editing update......an hour later. Everything above was done in 32 bit, and reduced to 16 bit.... Repeated the procedure in 16 bit, and inpainting works.
  4. Only my opinion. AF has easy to understand ( if go slowly ) videos. Not so with PS. Just my opinion, and it's not humble. hee Cheers David
  5. If I understand correctly, you are 'copying' old photographs. I use cross polarization when I am photographing any image. Photos not larger than 8.5 by 14, I use a scanner. Without the scanner, consider, if you will, two lights, 45 degrees off the axis........the direct line between camera lens and original photo. Put polarizing filters over each light and another over the camera lens. Look up on google, copying photo. Now, I know this doesn't answer your very question. For the future, my suggestion would be helpful. Another AF user will help you. Cheers, Davod
  6. Hi Russell. I use RPP 64, Raw Photo Processor 64 to get the .dcp profiles. And, Thank you for the suggestion. Cheers David Weston Master.rtfd.zip
  7. jepike, #1 be patient. The video tutorials are a G-d send. I have enjoyed them and learned from them. Some go too fast, and some are just right for me. Kind regards, David
  8. Advanced Member Moderators 857 posts LocationNottingham Thank you Patrick. I know I have posted the request before. I have not received a positive answer, if .dcp camera profiles can be used. My apologies should I have offended anyone. Cheers, David Posted 22 November 2016 - 08:36 PM Duplicate thread https://affinity.ser...le-i-would-appr Like This Patrick Connor Serif (Europe) Ltd.
  9. Excuse me don't.....should be doesn't Cheers, David Miller Need assistance in having an image file stay at 240 ppi. Obviously I am missing something. My bad. In develop persona I have flattened the image file. In resize I choose the actual file dimensions in inches I need, and set DPI to 240. Resample is Lanczos 3 (non-separable). Ready to export, I check more, and all is okay. Export as tiff, and I end up with 72 DPI and not the size I chose. What is my error? What am I missing? Please help. Kind Regards David
  10. Lens Correction: Now, this is no doubt an excellent silly question. Samsung Galaxy S7, shooting in Pro mode, and getting 32 bit DNG image files. Is lens correction available in Affinity Photo for Samsung Galaxy cell phone cameras? Let me write, I appreciate AF does accept 32 bit image files smack from the cell phone. Pro cameras are a pair of Canon 6D's. There, cell phone is not for professional use........or is it? How many other AF photogs are using cell phones for imaging? MacBook Pro 8,3, two of them, two NEC MultiSync PA272 and a PA 271. Cheers, David
  11. I want to rotate an image file when it is in RAW. How do I do it? I don't want to wait until this image file is in Develop. Cheers David MacBook Pro 8,3 10.11.6
  12. Got a problem. RAW, dng, is 32 bit. I send this dng file, 32 bit to AF. All is well. Preparing to export an image file as tiff, 32 bit is not available for export. Finding a way to export as 32 bit, tiff. I am at a loss. So, what am I missing? Suggestions please. Cheers, David
  13. Posted 30 January 2016 - 04:36 PM CameraProfiles; I want to use .dcp camera profile. How do I instalL into AP? To get the .dcp camera profile, I digitally capture the 24 patch X-rite cardboard target. Convert that digital capture to dng with Adobe dng converter, and create the camera profile using dng profile editor. The .dcp camera profile works perfectly in my LR 6.3 workflow. That is the reason I would like to be able to use the .dcp camera profile. Kind Regards, David
  14. Hi Andy. If .dcp camera profile is available already, please help me find it. Posted 30 January 2016 - 04:36 PM CameraProfiles; I want to use .dcp camera profile. How do I instal then into AP? To get the .dcp camera profile, I digitally capture the 24 patch X-rite cardboard target. Convert that digital capture to dng with Adobe dng converter, and create the camera profile using dng profile editor. The .dcp camera profile works perfectly in my LR 6.3 workflow. That is the reason I would like to be able to use the .dcp camera profile. Posted 31 January 2016 - 01:25 AM Hi David, DCP profile support is on our radar - we hope to get it implemented some time soon. Sorry I can't be any more specific! Thanks, Andy. Kind Regards to AF TEAM ! ! !
  15. This where I see it: What is meant 'till AP goes gold? Newbie Members 8 posts Posted Today, 03:11 AM "Not a match for Photoshop 6" ... come on :) I have been a Photoshop user all my life, using it for both to create artwork for digital and print. I have stopped buying it since CS4 - as I never had the need to buy each and every version, so the Adobe CC thing is completely useless for me. I have been hoping that a new product comes along which is a good alternative the PS affordable, and can handle Pantone and CMYK. Affinity Photo is exactly what I want. Sure it is still a bit rough around the edges, has bugs, and is still a way off, but what the heck, at the price it is a steal! Cannot wait until it goes gold :) (any idea when this is planned to happen?)
  16. MEB. How is Sierra working for you? I'm just not ready to go to Sierra. MacBook Pro 8,3, 16 GB RAM. D
  17. Hi, Fixx. As I wrote in my post, I use the Epson Pro 9900. The Epson driver version is 9.33. Wished I could verbally communicate with an AF member to help me understand how the print persona works, and how to use it. A tutorial on the print persona would be extremely valuable. Kind Regards, David
  18. Thank you for responding, Leigh. I have not printed from 'preview'. I have not tried 'save current settings as presets'. I'll keep experimenting. My biggest issue is having the image properly centered when it comes out of the printer. I think I have the image centered in the display, and, ooppss it's not Cheers, david
