dkaiser got a reaction from Jowday in Soft proof & Separation
Dear Affinty-Team
How can I perform a soft proof on my calibrated monitor? About all pages in the document?
With the current softproof function, this only applies to the current page. Not suitable for the control of several pages. Please insert the soft proof as a menu item that will help us to check all pages.
Additionally, please also integrate the CMYK or spot color separation as a preview. As in Affinity Photo, we can hide the channels (eye icon), such as black, and check them before exporting to PDF/X for the print shop or large printing.
These two functions help us a lot in the team. It helps to produce not wrong print data. Please do not wait for it.
Thanks

Thanks for helping to push this feature. We still miss it too. The more people ask for it, the sooner it will hopefully be implemented through Affinity.
thanks

Hello, there is a cool solution for CMYK separation-preview: You go to Photo-Persona, then go to channels and select the appropriate channels. When you go back to the Publisher-Persona, the selection is kept.

Yes, I agree. The suggested workaround is far from optimal. It really doesn’t work for larger projects.

dkaiser reacted to A_B_C in Soft proof & Separation
As a workaround you could create an empty master page, put your Soft Proof Adjustment there, and apply the master page to your document pages without replacing existing masters. Then you would have to reorganise the layers stack of your layout pages to make the adjustment effective (the respective master page entry must be on top of the stack). Yes, it’s a bit cumbersome.

That's what I was in the process of suggesting, too, @A_B_C.
I have a vague memory of someone explaining a trick to move the Master Layer to the top of the stack on all pages with one operation. But I can't figure it out again, and maybe it's a false memory.
In any case, reorganizing the layer stack is simple (except you need to do it on each page, or at least each page you need to soft-proof): On the document page, select the Master Page layer, and Layer > Arrange > Move to Front (default shortcut: Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) + Shift + ]

dkaiser reacted to redline.wolfgang in DXF or DWG file import in Affinity Designer
First, Affinity Designer is beautiful and extremely efficient tool. I like it!
I am doing design and artwork for front panels / operating panels of electric devices and machines. The drawings are available in DXF and / or DWG from Autocad (trademark). What would really speed up my workflow is the option to *import* DXF or DWG files.
Considering that these files can carry very complex information it would be sufficient to be able import only a single layer file or a single layer of such a file. This contains all mechanical data so I can be sure that the artwork will match the target device.
Adobe Illustrator has this feature.
Export of DXF / DWG files is actually not required for this kind of work.

Thank you for the Beta. I's good to now, you go forward.
Please ad the follow:
- Bleed (please ad an optical view like lines, also in Affiny Designer, i asked you early)
- Overflow Text (like a red dot in the lower right, or by export, in a big error message: Hey you see not the hole Text...)
- Missing Pictures or Document links? We have no information over it. Like open a older document. Ad a warning?
- Spearation for CMYK (switching in optical view and have a % about the CMYK-Number's, also in Affinity Designer). This is important. We want controll over it before we export for PDF/X-3. We want also if the placed or linked picture a greyscale, this will be exportet as this... not as a CMYK or RGB. A black Picture, is black in the channel (k) for print and not a mix of all 4 colors.
- Monitorproof... i dont now, how i can do this in Publisher. We as a company work with Printingservices around the world. It's important we have a point tats say us, we with the colors right.
Thank You

dkaiser got a reaction from Diller in Affinity Publisher
Well, there is no information about Publisher, no development video or screenshot. The only thing you know that was promised at the end of this year the beta and just this entry at about us. The entry is adjusted once or twice a year for years. Well, everyone is waiting for it and finally hope that there is good news. A short info video or developer screenshots would be helpful. Helpful, however, would be if Affinity lives up to the promises.
At this time, my correction is valid

Hello forum member Hello developer team We start today with a promo video which includes screen recording of a little parts of the creation. Actually, we did not want to post this here, however, we are exited by Affinity and his designer software. We find that the developers have invested a lot of effort and time in the software and we want to show them that the software is also used by professionals. Much thanks for your enormous effort and we hope that the development never stops.
Here the short movie:
