  1. Hi @Giovonnae, I think it is ACAD doing the scaling when saving based on the page size set in ACAD, even when saving the Model and Designer is simply correctly interpreting that scaling… You can set a custom page size in ACAD rather than using A0… If you set a custom page size of say 45” x 100” and then save the Model to dwg I think Designer will open it at the correct size, scaled at 1:1.
  2. Hi @LukeBronsky, Totally agree but glad there is at least a workaround… Is this automatic when exporting from Illustrator or is there a checkbox that enables this? Just curious to understand whether the current behaviour seen when exporting from Affinity apps is correct or would be considered a bug…
  3. Hi @traumschiff and welcome to the forums, Probably the first thing to check is that everything is perfectly pixel aligned... In the User Interface Settings/Preferences, ensure that Pixels are set to six decimal places then change your document units to pixels and make sure all positioning uses integer values rather than sub-integer values...
  4. Hi @LukeBronsky and welcome to the forums, I'm unsure about Illustrator but exporting a multi-artboard Designer document to pdf won't merge the Layers from each artboard which is why you see a repeat of the Layers for each exported page... If you have Acrobat Pro or PDF Studio you can Merge the duplicated layers for each page to create single layers which will then apply to the whole document, e.g., merging all instances of the layer labelled 68 into a single layer will then hide and show layer 68 for all pages of the PDF file with a single click...
  5. Hi @Beck, Is there any reason for not using a vector QR Code such as the attached... qr-code.svg
  6. I've not been able to replicate this either... "I noticed the following bug on AP 2.4.0 on MacOS..."
  7. I don't see how that would work for the requested formatting... Figure <Section Name> '-' /# 'illustration name...
  8. It's a little odd in as much as the text style will 'accept' the <Section Name> token... but because it's not a supported feature, it won't recognise it as part of the text style itself... So currently specifying Figure' <Section Name> '-' /# 'illustration name' is largely a manual task as @walt.farrell mentions. A proper captions feature has been requested numerous times before so hopefully, we'll see this in a future update...
  9. You can however insert the Section Name (which you would use to name your Chapters) by specifying your main caption text as part of the text style... and then insert the <Section Name> placeholder like this as part of your caption... resulting in this...
  10. What happens if you create a custom page size larger than the pattern dimensions, e.g., 45" x 100" and then Save it as a dwg file, does that overcome the scaling issue when the dwg is opened in Designer? I've been playing around with the web version of ACAD which is more limited than the Desktop version. As far as I can tell you can't set custom page sizes in the web version which means the max page size you can set is A0, 841 mm x 1,189 mm (33.1" x 46.8"). If I set the page size at A0 and then draw a square of any size below A0 dimensions, Save the Model as a dwg and open it in Designer, the file opens at 1:1, e.g., a 20" x 20" or 36" x 36" square opens at the correct size scaled at 1:1. As soon as my drawing exceeds the page size, e.g., if I draw a 40" x 40" square (which exceeds the width of A0) then saving to dwg and opening in Designer results in scaling being applied, in this instance 1:2. I noted that your dwg file has an A0 document size when opened in Designer and I suspect that is why it opens with scaling applied, i.e., because the pattern dimensions exceed the page size but I think if you set a custom page size in ACAD that is larger than the pattern dimensions, it will open at the correct size, scaled at 1:1. Let us know if that works.
  11. Hi @LEB, Exactly... When I change the language to French and the decimal character to a comma I see the same incorrect behaviour, i.e, pressing the down arrow changes 12,5 pt to 11 pt but switching the language back to English and the decimal character to a full stop (as used in English), the behaviour is then correct, i.e., pressing the down arrow changes 12.5 pt to 12 pt so there is clearly a bug when using the comma as the decimal character...
  12. Hi @LEB, This happens when the decimal comma... When using a decimal full stop the behaviour is correct, i.e., pressing the down arrow correctly changes the font size from 12.5 pt to 12 pt
  13. Hi @Manuel217 and welcome to the forums, By working in Designer and applying the Gaussian Blur to the various layers you effectively have a Vector Workflow in as much as you can scale your source graphic up and down as needed along with the Gaussian Blur FX using the Affinity Designer file... The reason the Gaussian Blur isn't exporting to the PDF file is because you've set Rasterisation to None in the PDF Export settings... The Gaussian Blur itself will always be rasterised when exported to a PDF file so for it to export correctly you need to keep Rasterise set to Unsupported Properties and then it will export correctly... If you need larger versions of your Artwork you can simply scale everything in your source Affinity Designer file up accordingly to the appropriate size before exporting the file to PDF. Your SVG file doesn't have the smooth Gaussian Blur or the original file for the same reason, i.e. because you've set Rasterise to Nothing. The difference with the SVG file is that on export it has maintained the editable FX of the original, albeit with a reduced radius hence the file doesn't look as smooth as the original... If you open the PDF exported from PowerPoint in Designer I would expect to see rasterised Image layers in place of vector layers... This is an exported PDF with Rasterise set to Unsupported Properties... Texture New.pdf
  14. Affinity Designer is honouring the drawing scale of the imported ACAD DWG file, so I assume you're working at a scale of 1:3 in ACAD? I'm also assuming that Illustrator isn't honouring the drawing scale of the DWG file when opened... To adjust for the scale factor the following should work... Open the DWG file in Affinity Designer Adjust the pattern positions accordingly From the File menu select Document Setup From the Dimensions tab in the Document Setup dialog change the document dimensions to 40" x 91" and the dpi to 100 dpi From the Scale tab in the Document Setup dialog uncheck Use Drawing Scale Click OK Export the file to PDF and the file appears at the correct size I noticed that despite Scale with object being Unchecked in the Stroke panel and Line Weights being set to Locked in the Scale Override dialog in the Transform panel the line weights are still scaled which I think might be a bug, so I've reset these accordingly... The Screen Recording shows the process after Opening the DWG file in Designer and Having Repositioned the Patterns DWG.mp4
  15. Are you working at 1:1 in Autocad or 1:3, i.e., is your Autocad drawing 42.8" x 94.3“ or 14.27" x 31.46"? There must be a reason why Designer is interpreting the DWG file with a 1:3 ratio… I don’t believe there is any automatic way to transform the layers or to disable the scaling on opening the DWG file so I think you would have physically scale the drawing accordingly but I’ll have a look and if there any options I’m missing…
  16. Out of interest, what do you see when you Right-Click a picture frame on Windows? On Mac, you see these options with both a Right-Click and a Ctrl-Click...
  17. By any chance, is the original drawing scaled using a 1:3 ratio... Affinity Apps are interpreting the DWG file using a 1:3 ratio (see the Transform Panel, highlighted in green) and therefore it appears 33.33% smaller when exported to PDF, i.e., selecting the two layers when the DWG file is opened in Affinity apps correctly shows the dimensions as 42.8" x 94.3" but because of the 1:3 scaling applied, they are exported to PDF as 14.27" x 31.46" which is what you are seeing when importing the file into ACAD... When initially exporting to DWG is there an option to disable scaling?
  18. On Mac, Ctrl (^) is the equivalent of a right click and so equally brings up the context menu...
  19. Thought about that, but I suspect Ctrl will bring up the Context menu as it does on Mac...
  20. Good spot, in which case the help file needs a bit of a refresh for v2... It seems slightly odd that you need the Cmd modifier to initiate the process for the first image only... it feels as though the main issue here is with the drop zone not working correctly in v2...
  21. Hi @Giovonnae, Could you upload the PDF you exported from Adobe Illustrator so we can compare the two to see where the difference may lie? As a quick test, if you do a pdfImport rather than a pdfAttach using the whole page what Page Size and Page Scale are displayed in the import dialog window? I expect there is a scaling issue here so knowing how the page size is being interpreted by ACAD would be very helpful... As mentioned above the PDF page is 33.1" x 46.8" and the Drawing on its own is 14.3" x 31.5", if you can clarify the dimensions you see when using pdfattach that may also give us some clues...
  22. Hi @Giovonnae, Could you elaborate a little... Is the drawing supposed to include or exclude the white space surrounding your drawing? Did you try the option of selecting all the layers in the layers panel and then exporting with Area set to Selection Area or Selection Only What dpi does ACAD use/expect, 72, 96 or 300 dpi?
  23. Hi @grobarmartin and another warm welcome to the forums, Just to add to @walt.farrell's post, a little visual representation of the approach to adopt... Slices.mp4
  24. Hi @Jim Welch 1 and welcome to the forums, It is indeed possible to change the dpi, however, there are potential implications depending on whether your logo is purely vector in nature or it is a bitmap logo... Are you happy to upload your logo so we can take a look? To change the dpi in Designer you would simply go to the Document Setup Dimensions tab, In Photo Document > Resize Document and leave resample enabled... but note that changing the dpi in Designer for a bitmap logo is not going to improve the quality of the logo itself... Depending on the complexity of the logo, if it is a pure bitmap logo it may be possible to use a free online vectoriser tool to convert it to a vector logo which would give you much more flexibility and control... If you can upload what you have you will likely receive plenty of options and suggestions in return...
  25. If the 'feature' (can't think what else to call it) is by design, which I assume it was in v1 based on: a) being able to do it and b) being described in the help file Then, yes I agree that this is/would be the bug because you simply can't do this in v2... None, but my assumption was the whole point of this 'feature' was the ability to easily add multiple images to a text frame, though clearly, it is still possible to achieve in v2 once an initial image has been added as actual frame content... I found the feature quite handy in v1, but equally, that's likely just me as usual... Either the 'feature' is not working in v2 or the help file, as you point out, needs updating to reflect the change in process... I'm sure we'll get some confirmation one way or another from the moderation team...
