  1. As this out of gamut inconsistency issue has been going on for years, I would have expected the publisher to resolve this by now--I for one would then feel ok for setting up my art print from Affinity Photo, and say goodbye to Photoshop.
  2. cgidesign Thanks for posting this link. This issue has been going on for at least several years.
  3. Lacerto: Thanks for taking the time to post this: your results are pretty much the same as mine.
  4. Hi Lee: Please see attached: settings are the same for both PS and AP. In this image (see the text in the image), PS shows either no or very little out of gamut, while AP shows much more out of gamut--and this does affect the printed image.
  5. When all the settings are the same, one would expect any out of gamut check to be the same, as well. Why would AP change Relative Colorimetric to Absolute Colorimetric -- one would think some tech person from AP would address this issue. In other words, printing from AP is an unreliable nuisance. Here is one example: Image (left) AP out of gamut Image (right) PS out of gamut The text appears out of gamut in AP, but not in PS. Selecting Absolute Colorimetric in AP had no effect on removing the out of gamut text. When printing in AP, I didn't notice much of a difference in the text. But, with other of my fine art prints, differences are noticeable when printing the same image in PS (closer to what I expect)and AP where colors can be off and muted.
  6. Hello: Thanks for your comments. I only print from Adobe RGB. Using the same relative colorimetric intent with black point compensation on both PS and AP shows different results in the out of gamut check. I noticed this years ago, and still today. I have not found an answer as to why, not even from AP developers.
  7. I have not been able to find a reliable response to out of gamut issue. Although, I think that out of gamut would cause more issues when printing in CMYK.
  8. macOS Big Sur 11.6 When I check for out of gamut on the same image with the same settings, Affinity shows more colors out of gamut than Photoshop. Why this difference? I realize you can adjust the out of gamut colors to fall within the color space of the media and printer. I'm printing fine art paintings, not photos. This out of gamut difference would then change how the print comes out in Affinity and PS. Thanks for reading. 😀
  9. Thanks for the link. These tips are aimed at photography. Printing paintings requires different steps, although a profiled monitor is a must in both cased.
  10. Note: I have not printed with AP—as I have no interest in wasting ink and quality paper until I can see how printing would be acceptable. And yes, same monitor and profiles re gamut warning.
  11. The gamut discrepancy also shows with Red River Aurora Art Natural and Aurora Art White. Image shows no gamut issues with PS, but significant gamut issues with AP.
  12. The perspective crop tool in GC (known as the unskew command) is simple to use. With some app, users may only work with a few tools.
  13. While AP can be used for other functions, those who desire a good perspective crop tool similar to PS, I recommend GraphicConverter, which does the job very well in one operation. http://www.lemkesoft.de/en/order/
