  1. I agree ! But when you've got 16 pages and more than 120 jewels on it with specifics colors adjustements for each of them to unify the graphic design, it's better and quicker to have a "final" object on your page instead of using the dynamic one because you have to manage less sources. There is a total of 148 sources in this project ... ;-)
  2. Hi all ! I'm proud to show you how AP is a professionnal tool. I'm near the end of the of a graphic design of a jewelry catalog for a major French retailer. It was a real challenge I want to succeed and it have been hard because of my 20 years of using Adobe tools ... but I did it ! Why using AP instead Photoshop ? Because of one particular thing : the non destructive effect when you resize au layer. This is really important when you compose a page with objects and you don't know what could be the their final size. In Photoshop this action is destructive and you loose lots of details by trying to find the good placement of your object, so you have to duplicate your object : one for the draft copy and the second one for the final placement ... and pray so that is the last décision of your costumer ! GREAT ! The second things are "move by whole pixel" and "force alignment of pixels" options, the best way to keep a sharp definition of your objects ! SO GREAT ! The third thing is exporting with Lanczos algorythmes ... SO SO GREAT ! At the end of this project, I'll post a long list of little features that could help us to be more productive with AP : management of selection (add to selection, subtract from selection, ...), improve fill panel, "new layer" panel like "adjustments" panel ... Jewels have not been retouched in AP because I need two things to do it well : 1- Oil painting filter. I make a personnal use of this filter to obten specific results on the internals shapes of a jewel. There is a free option for Windows but nothing for Mac ... Source files can be downloaded but I don't know to compile for OSX : https://yande.re/forum/show/2007?page=1 2- Improvments for gradient and color picker tools, actually they are too long to use. See you in few weeks !
  3. This an awesome example of a simple stuff with vector design ! AWESOME !!!
  4. Very good composition and nice choise of colors. Everything is perfectly balanced.
  5. I don't know if you have the same trouble, but after I've created this library (but it's true for an other), the batch processing function crash AP each time I want to use it and all my macros libraries (and the default library too) with no possibility to reinstall it. The bug have been reported here >> https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/33703-batch-processing-always-crash-the-app/
  6. Hi, As I explain it in my previous post (MacOS + AP + Nik Collection FULL FONCTIONALS ...), Selective Tool plugin can't work in Affinity Photo because it open a scripts panel in Photoshop ; but most of then can be reproduce with simple macros in Affinity Photo ... So I did it ! 1- At first, you have to install Nik Collection plugins for Affinity Photo, some YouTube videos explain clearly how to do it. 2- You have to correct *.config files has I explain here. 3- Install "NIK Collection Selective Tool.afmacros" How it work ? Generaly, the "real" Selectiv Tool copye and merges all the layers, then it creates a full mask (black) befor calling the plugin you select with it. When you've finished to work in the plugin's panel, you go back in the editing software and you just have to erase parts of the mask with a white brush to reveale the effect ... NIK Collection Selective Tool.afmacros works exactly the same way. Note : you don't have to use Selective Tool to work with Nik Collection plugins ; this tool is just a "plus". Enjoy it ! 7. Good news for us ! Perhaps I'm not the fist one but I found the way to use all the plugins of the Nik Collection in Affinity Photo. After installing the Nik Collection by following tutorials, we all have the same problems : Viveza 2, Sharpener Pro 3, Dfine 2 et Selective Tool doesn't work. The problem come from the Windows format of the config file of each plugins. In fact, this file is a text file format with the .config extension. Analog Efex Pro 2 - natively works Color Efex Pro 4 - natively works Dfine 2 - you have to replace the Dfine2.config HDR Efex Pro 2 - natively works Sharpener Pro 3 - you have to replace the SHP3.config Silver Efex Pro 2 - natively works Viveza 2 - you have to replace the Viveza2.config (after a quick test, this one doesn't work very well, because of a color problem - I'm not enought competent to solve it) Selective Tool - can't works in AP because it's a sort of scripts panel to call Nik plugins with different ways - We could create similar actions with AP Macros. How and where replacing the .config files ? Go to the folder you create before installing the Nik collection / Google / In Dfine 2 folder > replace Dfine2.config (you have to login) In Sharpener Pro 3 folder > replace SHP3.config (you have to login) In Viveza 2 folder > replace Viveza2.config (you have to login) If you didn't erase the way to access to these plugins in AP's preferences, they works now. Enjoy it ! configs files.zip
  9. Hi everybody, 80s retro graphic design for a famous french DJ (and a friend). He asked me to illustrate his podcast channels. We have validated together a retro 80s design style with all the codes of this period. Here are the first two design of this project ... Fully made with Affinity Photo. Enjoy it :-) Note : I hope the 1.5 version will solves the issues I met during the process.
  10. Thanks for the answer. It's very interresting. I will post later a list of improvments, especialy for contectuals menus in layers panels or in workspace area.
  11. Hi Affinity team, I don't know what is the best set-up (Designer and Photo) to use with my hardware : MacBook Pro 9,1 - i7 2,6Ghz - 8Go Ram - nVidia GeForce GT650M 1Go + Intel HD4000 OSX El Capitan 10.11.6 I don't find any informations to understand what could be the best preferences I've to select for my kind of hardware. For the moment I've selected both and I got less "ventilation panic", but is it the best thing to do ? According to me, there is a lack of information on some options in the prefs. panels. Thanks by advance for your answers.
  12. Thanks for your feedback. About inverting the mask from a curve, we can't keep it and invert it. In fact, we have to rasterize it before invert it and lose all benefits of a mask's curve.
  13. Hi, Something strange happens when I want to get the selection of a shape on a rotated image. Here is the process : 1- Open an image 2- Rotate it (Document/Rotation 90°) 3- Draw a closed shape with the pen tool (P) 4- Create a selection by cliking the "selection" button in the pen tool options As you can see, the selection appear at the wrong place, as if it kept the old image coordinates (before the rotation). Thanks by advance to your answer. Note : It would be good to click on the "mask" button and having the possibility to invert the mask ... problem_rotation-shape-selection.mov
  14. Hi, My name is François Deretz (aka DEF13). I live in Marseille, France. I'm a professional graphic design since 1996 and a professional studio photographer since 2008. I was fallen in graphic design in 1990 after using Corel Draw and 2 years later, Corel Photopaint ... But during my studies, I had to enter to the "Adobe univers" ... I work with Photoshop and Illustrator for 22 years : - Photoshop for graphic design or photo retouching (models or jewellery) - Illustrator for graphic design or logo design When Adobe decided to pass to CC, I decided to stop invest in their suite ... Fortunatly, I discover Affinity Designer and your Photo project. I have downloaded your betas to test your products in my production pipeline. 2 days ago, I bought Affinity Photo and ... INCREDIBLE !!! You've done a great job with this software. I will humbly propose you some features to improve the way to use Affinity Photo (specifically some details that's are really helpful during a "hardcore" retouching).
