Update Photo/Designer on Apple App Store?

EleanorMcC posted a topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)

I haven't gotten an update email for Photo or Designer. But the apple app store says to do it. But when I try to update either program, I agree to the new conditions, but then get "We have a problem." Can I update a different way?
