  1. MBd--I hadn't tried it because it is not my habit, but I see that it does work, thank you! I suppose it could be chalked up to an AP quirk that I couldn't get past because of prior experience with other software. I do think it would be better if the end points could be reversed left to right as well as up to down.
  2. I did a search on the forums and couldn't find if this was suggested or discussed. Recently, I wanted to create my own inversion using Layer Adjustment > Curves. However, the end points on the curves are not allowed to go past each other--at closest proximity, they form a vertical line. I would like to have more freedom with Curves, to invert the dark and light to opposite corners in addition to doing funky things to the intermediate points. So, consider this a feature request! Not everybody wants the default "Invert" adjustment for all purposes. ;)
  3. Here is a link to a tutorial that shows several methods. I haven't tried them in AP, but it might be worth investigating. If you come up with your own method, it might be artistically better anyway! http://blog.kozzi.com/photography/tutorial-an-easier-and-better-way-to-create-a-sketch/
  4. I'm confused--earlier you said you couldn't turn it off.
  5. This isn't quite there in terms of the same quality of the sample you show, but it might be fun to try: Filters>>Detect Edges Layer Adjustments>>Invert Layer Adjustments>>Black and White
  6. OK, I see--yes it does seem to be lacking. Have you tried making your graphic much larger and then rezzing down with an algorithm that softens slightly? Just as a workaround. Hopefully you already posted in the feature request board ;)
  7. Have you tried Select>Feather and use a very low number, like 1 or 2 px?
  8. The two I have tried are Astropad and Air Stylus. Of the two, Astropad is miles better and is still being developed. I don't use it regularly, but I've heard it is also better if the iPad is plugged into the computer via USB. Recently I received an email from Astropad. It appears they might be migrating to a subscription model for "pro" users at $99 per year. There would still be a free version, but much more limited.
  9. I've been wanting to know also. I asked in a couple threads, but didn't get replies. My main question was whether custom brushes and swatches get wiped out when the program is reset.
  10. David, are you having problems with other programs causing crashes too? I guess what I'm getting at is that maybe there is still a hardware problem that is glitching during use.
  11. Travelling Man--in my case, I have an enthusiast compact camera (Sony RX100) which by default produces severe barrel distortion. In fact, most "serious compacts" have terrible distortion due to their svelte lens designs. When the lens correction is on in my RAW developing tool, the barrel distortion is fixed, but the quality (sharpness, clarity) suffer greatly, and can't be fully recovered. While it might be ok for the occasional photo, I really want the option to choose which is better for my photographs. For other camera/lens combinations I have, the severity of the distortion is much less, so the lens correction doesn't make as much of a difference in the overall quality. At the time I switched, DxO and CaptureOne were the only pro tools that allowed the lens correction to be turned off.
  12. Haha, I guess context is very important! I had forgotten that "actions" were going to be added, and didn't really think about naming it "macro" persona! ;)
  13. Here are two ways I know of: If you area already painting with the paintbrush tool, hold down the Option key. The cursor will change, and you will be able to pick up a color while the Option key is pressed. The color swatch will change to the selected color. In the Colour panel, drag the eyedropper icon to your canvas and release when you find the color you want. Click the eydropper swatch. The color swatch will change to the selected color.
  14. Is the Macro Persona on the roadmap the same thing as focus stacking?
  15. Traveling Man--no, in ACR lens correction is always on. I switched to DxO because of it. Maybe they saw the light and implemented it at a later date...?
  16. I tried manually entering the feather value in the Refine dialog box, and I was able to go to 1024 there too...it just takes a little while for the effect to process.
  17. pingssgp--quite a few of us have been asking about plugin support, and usually the answer is that development is ongoing, and that Serif also needs cooperation from the plugin developers. On that note, it might help if you ask the companies that make your plugins for AP compatibility! As more people ask, AP will get noticed :)
  18. Strange--I was able to feather much more than that. I have a 3600px x 4800px file, created a selection rectangle, and then selected "Feather" from the Select menu. The slider went up to 1024px for me. However, when I selected "Refine" from the top bar of the rectangular selection tool, the feather slider only went to 100.
  19. rodolfopaez and Digitalclips--it is a two way street, so it may help if you also submit a request to ON1 to be compatible with AP.
  20. Yeah, I'm really tired of arguing to justify what I would like to see in the tool. As I said, there is a feature request topic, so I hope Serif takes it to heart. R C-R...well, I just don't know what more to say about "Absolute". In my mind, my intuitive sense, and in my day job, absolute is the "truth", which means it is an irrevocable quantity. I just don't see it in the AP tool, sorry.
  21. R C-R, when I switch to "Absolute" after initially clicking the crop tool, the crop window stays the same as in "Unconstrained", but shows the pixel size of my file. I'm ok with that, actually. What I find more frustrating is trying to crop to "Absolute" of other sizes--I honestly think the bounding box should be constrained. Even if Serif decides they don't want to mimic some of the behaviors of PS (such as re-sampling in the crop), I think the bounding box behavior should be re-evaluated. As I have said in other posts, absolute should be absolute.
