As simple as the title of this post, backspace stopped to work to delete objects in this version. 
Very very annoying...

I need this shortcut so badly : Toggling foreground and background color (outline & background if you prefer).
As well as a shortcut to unfill outline or background. 
This would be a huge time saver... 
 

It's simple : I'm moving from page to page inside Publisher. 
At the beginning of the video I'm in Designer (inside Publisher) in outline mode to show you the shapes on the artboards. This X-Ray view is very clear about the different vector shapes in the document.

Then, I'm switching from Designer space to Publisher space and I'm moving from page to page to show the content in a "regular" view. 
You can then see that if you move from page A to page B, and if you try to select objects on page B, Publisher displays ghost content from page A. 
This happens everytime, unless you've previously clicked on the page itself, so Publisher knows immediately what page you're working on. 
I can reproduce this everytime in any situation. Which leads to a bad behavior of the app that should know what page you're working on, or which content depends to which page. That's a crazy issue.

Worse than that, in previous versions, I was not able to select and play with the ghost content. 
Whereas in this version, I'm able, not only to select the ghosted content, but also to make it pop on the wrong page, if I click and drag it (what is shown on the video).

I can see the different types of layers in the option box while importing. But Indesign won't open separate layers. It seems that everything is rasterized with no options to edit the different contents. Vector shapes don't show up and text can't be edited. 

Now just add them to your Designer Assets panel and you can use them in new Designer documents without have to cut and paste from Publisher
 
 
Assuming by "placeholders" you mean picture frames
 

I agree it's not ideal, and it does concern me. But it's still more than Publisher allows.
As for those other formats, try laying out commercial publications in any of them. I don't do this as a hobby.

Bruce, InDesign exports to IDML, which Publisher can them import. I would like to be able to make the return trip, however imperfectly.

There's still a window of opportunity for Affinity here .... A hell of a lot of people still use Adobe Fireworks and are extremely disgruntled with Adobe, especially those on Mac who upgrade to Mojave and find out Fireworks will no longer work.... Non-destructive perspective, Free Transform  and some core warp tools like arch, arc, fisheye would seal the deal IMO. Workflow and learning curve in Illustrator and Photoshop are steep, clumsy and don't lend themselves well to long term users of an intuitive tool like Fireworks ..... Add these tools to Designer and Adobe could be dropped completely then and hello Affinity all the way

This is a the first time I'm loosing such an amount of work in a crashed document. 
The previous versions were crashing but were preserving 90% of my opened document so that I did not have to think about saving, saving, saving...
