    .... and yet if I browse folders where I have images stored, the thumbnails show without issue. .afphoto/design do not and attempting to open them via the Share option results in an error message. I think this is something to do with Photo and Design not 'registering ' correctly in iOS.

    It would be great to have Fuji’s legendary film simulations: Arcos, Provia, Velevia, Astia, etc. built into AP.  I have found on LUT’s for Fuji film simulations on the web that can be imported into AP.  Here’s a link: https://blog.sowerby.me/fuji-film-simulation-profiles/

    I took a quick look into this and it's because we open files in-place now as opposed to just importing it. This requires apps like Amazon Drive to fully support the Files app which it hasn't yet. Both DropBox, and Google Drive do, OneDrive will show up but doesn't really support the full functionality of Files. Unfortunately, this requires Amazon to update their app.

    I will probably put in an Import from iCloud as an extra option somewhere but you still can't export into Amazon Drive until Amazon update their app. As far as I can see there's no way to actually put files into Amazon Drive from the Files app, no paste option nor will drag-drop work.

    Hi Gary,

    I'm going to correct myself here. So it looks like it is possible to have Amazon Drive show up, however, I've noticed that in build 68 it does show up in Affinity. In build 69 it does not show in Affinity. It looks like we've changed/broken something between these builds. I'll have a chat with dev and see what may have gone wrong. Sorry about this.

    Thanks for the improvements to shadow/highlight recovery.  I tried it on a shot of Half Dome in Yosemite.  Not a great shot, but the most underexposed shot in a bracketed set.  In full disclosure after being successful with shadows/highlights, I gave it a touch of tone mapping.

    There so many great things about Affinity Photo, but I am still not loving the Shadow recovery in the 1.6.7 (Beta 1).  I normally shoot a Fuji X-T2 and no matter how I process an image, the shadow recovery is now were near as well done as in Lightroom or On1 RAW 2018.  The process is better on images from my Nikon d610, but still needs work.  I recommend that you look at On1 RAW 2018.  It has sliders for highlights, midtones, and shadows within their Develop Module.

    I know you are working on it, and appreciate that, but it is confusing to to have shadow/highlight in so many places (Develop, Filters, Adjustments, and Live Filters).

    floruklein, this is slightly off our primary topic, but you mention that AP is giving you perfect color rendering for your Fuji files. Could you visit links below to download the full-size JPEG as well as the .RAF file, and let me know how close you come with the raw file to reproducing the color of the camera's JPEG. Thanks!

    Full-resolution JPEG (23.6 MB)
    .RAF file (116.3 MB)

    Turning up the saturation and vibrance for the balloon is easy, but maintaining the subtle color gradations in the blue sky is a bit tougher for me here.

    Hi @Justin!  Here are some samples.
    -RAF with no adjustments. I chose a photo that clearly had been shot with deep shadows.  It was actually part of a bracket set of five;
    -Current version of AP with shadows opened up to 100%.  The muddy shadows are so very obvious and detail is completely lost;
    -Beta 1 to 100%. A great improvement, but a good deal of work will be needed in addition to opening up the shadows to make the image pop.  Still some detail lost in shadows, but the clouds retain a great degree of contrast, which is good.; and
    -For a comparison I included a sample from On1 RAW 2018 at 100%. The image pops a lot more.  There is work to be done, but it is an easier starting point from my perspective.  The On1 result was very comparable to the result in Lightroom 6.

    I am also very much interested in getting a fix for this. I can't replace LR without a working shadows/highlights adjustment. Happy to see that others are also noticing the issue.

    There is growing interest in this since Adobe announced that LR 6 would be the last version with a perpetual license and that they would stop issuing updates to it this year.  MacPhun (Skylum) announced a forthcoming (2108) DAM to accompany their Luminar product.  ON1 RAW 2017 already has a DAM but it’s really a beta product  ON1 RAW 2018 looks like it will actually be a useful product.  AlienSkin’s Exposure X3 has a DAM/developer, as does Picktorial, ACDSee, etc. Then there is Capture One Pro 10 on the high end.  It seems like the competition is growing and the window of opportunity is closing.  Once the former LR 6 users settle on an alternative DAM with a perpetual license, inertia will probably keep them with the product that they choose.  Once you go through the effort of migrating a catalog, it’s hard to think about doing it again!  I would love to see Serif jump in with a DAM that plays well with AP before it’s too late!

    One feature that I really miss on migrating from Photoshop to Affinity Photo is the Black, Grey and White eyedroppers in the curve dialogue. I have a large collection of Kodacolor negatives and many have faded to a greater or lesser extent and the tend to produce scans with a heavy green cast. The PS eyedroppers correct this very effectively.

    I note that the latest version of Apple's Photo includes this feature. Is it possible to add this to AP?

    Thanks

    Hey guys,

    We desperately need some clarification. For the past two years it was mentioned several times here in these forums that you are working on a DAM. However, we haven’t really seen an update on that topic in the past weeks and months. And in your Twitter feed you mentioned a couple of times now that you are currently not developing a DAM. So which is true?

    With the recent changes from Adobe with their Lightroom software and with Apple still not improving Photos really, it would be a great time to put a great DAM out there right now. Many, many photographers are looking for a new solution to this old and essential problem. Also, MacPhun just announced a DAM for their Luminar app.

    In any case, we just need to know if we should wait for a DAM to be released by you guys or if we should look for other alternatives. Thank you!

    I think you are quite mistaken about what the majority of users expect. If anything, it is that they expect to pay for upgrades every few years if they want to get the new features marketing departments tout as "must haves." However, more than anything else, I believe most want the choice to upgrade or not, if or when they think it is worth it to them.

    Basically, it is that Adobe's CC subscription model puts strict & extensive restrictions on the use of their products, & that Adobe even reserves the right to disable the software remotely at any time if they think users are or are about to (!!) violate any of the TOS. Most CC users don't even seem to know what the TOS include, or that they need to read three or more densely worded legal documents very carefully just to know what they have agreed to.
