Petar Petrenko reacted to tobsen in Publisher did not pass the test
I'm pretty sure that doesn't mean: affinity should reach the goal of 0 errors. But some of those 98 errors might be easy to fix, other might be very important. So it's still valuable feedback.
I don't agree with "any application will fail that test" … You simply didn't get the purpose of it.
Affinity should take that suite and try their best to make as less errors as possible. and: some of those problems might fall out of the 80/20 rule … I'm sure affinity is able to identify the important issues AND the low hanging fruits as well!

Why just you don't draw a rectangle and put all the layers you need, into it? You can then resize the rectangle or reposition the pictures as you wish.

Catalin didn't do the testing. She only linked to the website that carried out the test as you did.
So she wasn't the person I was referring to
Catalin is a smart person though.

Petar Petrenko got a reaction from Rich313 in Official Affinity Publisher V1 (Desktop) Tutorials
Are these tutorials going to be uploaded to YouTube and gropued by themes like those ones of Photo and Designer? It is much easier for me to download them from YouTube than from Vimeo (I have to rename each one from Vimeo).

this sucks - I was very dissapointed - I have no real need for publisher at all, but purchased it to get what I thought was a full designer and photo integrated expereience.

Petar Petrenko reacted to garrettm30 in Footnotes/Endnotes
It was a simple misunderstanding, so it is probably best that we drop it. But I’m not dropping it (haha!).
Rory did not say "into" but "in." English has the annoying habit of dropping the relative pronoun, and sometimes it can obscure the meaning, but as I native speaker, I did understand it. To turn the sentence around, what Rory wants to import is "footnotes and endnotes [that are] in Microsoft Word." If Rory had said "footnotes and endnotes into Microsoft Word," as you suggested, then it would have had the opposite meaning.
So now we know what Rory meant, and that it could be correctly understood as written to native English speakers. Now we can move on.

Having downloaded all the videos from Vimeo, I agree with Petar Petrenko. It would be nice to add new to the titles.
Problem : there's no way to download the new videos. Not everyone has fast reliable broadband. It would be great to add a download button for us in the outback!!

Petar Petrenko got a reaction from ashf in Artboards Pannel?
I think it is a good idea to have an "Artboards" pannel in Designer same as we have "Pages" in Publisher. Because, in a way, they represent a kind of pages in Designer.
This way we can have very nice visual presentation of the artboards and they will not share a room with layers in the same pannel and make a confusion because they are not layers.

Petar Petrenko reacted to davemike in Cant get my head round Document Resize?!
Nzario, I share your frustration and this is what I would like to add:
Only now that Affinity Publisher has been released can magazines, design studios, advertising agencies, etc. consider replacing the Adobe trio with the Affinity suite. Because of flaws in Affinity Photo such as and especially the “Resize Document” these industries cannot possibly consider the Affinity as a viable alternative. Resizing needs to be efficient, with settings which allow intuitive, on-the-spot, precise control for feasible workflow.
The fact that the Affinity Photo tools which entail sizing have been so lacking right from the outset, and that criticism concerning the expediency of these tools was not seriously addressed by Serif in the forums since November 2014, leads me to believe that the Affinity set was perhaps never really intended to compete with Adobe, It must have been clear to Affinity that especially businesses such as hi-end magazines could not possibly use the essential Resize Document tool.
We have tried posting in feature requests, bugs, and this forum - there must be another "channel" to address our concerns, and to which Affinity would relate!?

Petar Petrenko reacted to Nazario in Cant get my head round Document Resize?!
Sorry to keep coming back to this but I keep attempting to use Document Resize and its just bonkers isn't it?! Even with the bug fixed the implementation is crazy, you can't use it with any confidence at all. Absolutely daft! Definitely just sticking with resizing in Preview.
To the guys and gals at Affinity. Please acknowledge our requests to look at the Document Resize implementation you have created and refine it so it is actually useful. As it stands it really does not work as part of any meaningful workflow. Its great that you include all these new technologies to speed up the application but why then slow them down with an ill thought out user interface? I can legitimately open Preview app in MacOS resize an image and reimport it quicker than fiddling with Document Resize in Affinity Photo. On top of that the Resample tick box needs to be removed if it is not going to function based on the settings selected. Also please show the pixel dimensions alongside the print dimensions and make them live update. Live update throughout the Affinity Suite is a big thing that is missing and should have been included from the get go. Typing in a value in one box then having to click inside another box to get the value you've just entered in the first box to update really is very poor decision in my book. Thats yet another click thats completely not required but you insist on all these extra clicks all throughout the Affinity suite that are simply not required! Your apps are brilliant, its the UI and the experience using it that is very poor indeed. I'd be happy to write up a report on what I think could be improved on the side of the UI. Just message me and I'll be happy to oblige.

Petar Petrenko reacted to intro55 in How to achieve a total transparency on gradients
I wonder if it is possible to achieve a total transparency on one side of the gradient, I take down opacity to 0 but still can see color.

Try this. The 'end' colour was set to a grey, it should be the same as the start colour, I also twisted the direction of the gradient to demonstrate.

Petar Petrenko reacted to gdenby in Problems with gradient transparency
Yes, certainly. A screen grab of the gradient dialogue showing the color of the end of the gradient is a grey.

Petar Petrenko reacted to Gardenia in strokes with multiple colors and line widths
It would be nice to be able to assign different stroke widths and colors to different segments of a stroke. By segments I mean the space connecting 2 points. Similar to what you can do with the borders of a table cell.

Or make a non facing master to drop on left or right of a facing page spread.

Petar Petrenko got a reaction from Kiarian in Publisher Master Page Tutorial question (split)
OK. I tried and found that it is the same as in ID and QXP.
Here is a Publisher file to try it youself. Just try to drag left master-B page to any right page of the document and vice versa.

Petar Petrenko reacted to Patrick Connor in Official Affinity Publisher V1 (Desktop) Tutorials
They are coming to the YouTube channel. The issue here is that Vimeo videos can be tweaked as an after thought without losing all the views and all the comments. YouTube videos are a once only upload thing, so QA have been tasked with checking the quality of things like intros and fades to see if there is any need to adjust or improve them before they are uploaded (all of which will take a while).
