Petar Petrenko got a reaction from MikeTO in Provide separate Intel and Apple Silicon builds instead of a single, universal binary.
Hey, I didn't say anything against Affinity. All of this was about the apps sizes.

Mainly Xara Designer Pro, CorelDraw, and Illustrator.
XDP, in part due to the speed it affords for the simple illustrations I make.
CD for the screen printers I do work with. Its tools are well suited for such work.
Illustrator, well, because there are some illustrations I need to return in that format, even if I do X amount of the work in XDP before finishing it in Illy.
But like all things, the "why" boils down mainly to preference and comfort. I've never liked working in AD--nor Illy for that matter. I just want to get work done.

The real resolution of the image is its size in pixels, not the DPI value.

+1 on cross-references. Both embedded ("see p. 81") with header titles ("see Some Header Elsewhere on page 81") and "continued on p. 81"/"continued from p. 81" type references. (figures, tables, pages…)

Petar Petrenko reacted to Old Bruce in Best Way to Make Chapter Start at Right Place
There is a problem with the baseline grid offset in the Text Frame Panel not giving me what I want. The Baseline grid can be set to start at 100 points from the top of the frame and it does. But... the text starts up near the top with the second line being on the baseline grid.
I doubt that it is only you and I who would find this useful. Perhaps a good place for it would be in the Flow section.

Petar Petrenko got a reaction from Old Bruce in Best Way to Make Chapter Start at Right Place
Long time ago I asked for the same feature and suggested Affinity to add in paragraph styles option -- something like "space before" -- which will start a paragraph at a specific distance from top margin (not from a last line of a previous paragraph). I find this very useful, but others users suggest to me to do a workarround with tables -- which is not very elegant.

Petar Petrenko got a reaction from appaulmac in Paragraph Styles and Section Breaks
Hi,
because section markers are not very flexible, having in mind that they aren't repositioned automaticaly together with the text, I suggest linking section start with a paragraph style. Say, we want section start when a "Chapter" (or "Author", "Heading 1"...) style is applyed to a chapter title. So, when adding or deleting text moves the Chapter title to another page, the new section marker goes with it.
This is extremly useful when a book is a collection of papers from different authors and they want the footnotes to restart from 1.

I don't think Affinity will start with subscription model but, if so, I will stop using it (as I told to Pixelmator Pro when I got an announcement they start subscribing model with Pixelmator Photo).

Much better solution is Python or JavaScript. Personally, I prefer Python.

Petar Petrenko reacted to PaulEC in Publisher setup for creating an A4 booklet consisting single sheet of A3 folded width-ways
I would have thought that the best way to set this up was as a four page, A4, facing page document. You get the front and back pages along with the centre page spread, all in the right order to layout the content. Then you can either print as a "booklet" yourself, or export as a single page PDF if sending it to a printer.

Heavy use of the word "you" and "we" (as in you) and poor listening skills. Most of this is projection. There's constructive feedback here, but no reason to attack another user for disagreeing.

Petar Petrenko reacted to ATP in Is AFFINITY dead?
Just my two cents.
A forced subscription would just make me stay at 1.x forever, I only use this software as a hobbyist and I don't want to have monthly payment required to use it. I also don't see how any professional would want this, pay forever or you lose access to all your work.
Any form of internet or challenge/response activation would also put me off. This was my main reason together with the beautiful UI for choosing Affinity in the first place. This would make it possible for Serif to pull to plug on any version whenever they'd like, similar to how Adobe no longer allows older CC versions because of licensing issues. And no this has nothing to do with piracy, if I wanted to do that I'd just pirate PS and the problem with older CC versions wouldn't exist either.
I trust Serif isn't going down this road, just detailing my thoughts.

I just wanted to be sure it can't be used the same way as in Designer and Publisher to make suggestion to the Affinity Team.
