  1. Thank you Alex, I have them already, but the problem with most of them is that they support only Russian (and Bulgarian automatically), but not Macedonian and Serbian language. And, even if they support MK and SRB then they give us Russian/Bulgarian small letters "dgtp" in Italic versions of the font(s). Pro versions of some fonts like Minion, Myriad, Warnock, Arno... have these MK italic glyphs, but the other problem is the Microsoft doesn't support them well in MK keyboard.

    Soooooooooo, you can see our Tantalus problems.

  2. It would be really handful and time saving if Affinity apps could flip, rotate, move characters inside text. I live in Macedonia where we use cyrilic alphabet. But not all fonts support cyrilic alphabet so I have to "create" some of them using letters from the alphabets inside the fonts. For instance, to get cyrilic letter "Г" I have to flip latin letter "L". For now I have to make a lot of text frames and them rearranging them which is very time consuming process. Please, help.

  3. Hi,

    it would be very nice if you offer in Publisher an option for text cleaning. It should do this:

    1. removing leading and trailing invisible characters (spaces, tabs...);

    2. replacing 2+ spaces with one;

    3. removing space(s) before interpunction signs;

    4. adding extra space after interpunction signs if there is no any (omit numbers);

    5. removing empty paragraphs.

    In FrameMaker I saw an interesting idea. They allow you to enter in a special window (including the options I mentioned above) something like this:

    "Which characters must have spaces after"

    "Which characters must have spaces before"

    "Which characters must have spaces before and after"

    "Which characters must have no spaces before and after".

  4. Yes, you can always do that, but often it is convenient & much faster to be able to just double-click on a file to open it in the default app assigned to it. That works whether or not the app is running at the time -- if not, the app launches & opens the file.

    This has been a standard feature of every Mac OS since the beginning, & I assume the same is true for Windows.

    Are you in a hurry?  :D

  5. @krollian  Yes, Freehand worked pretty well for putting objects inside of other objects, much easier then illustrator.

    @retrograde  Now I understand what you meant by distort. I don't use that kind of effect too much so it shouldn't be a problem.

    @Petar_MK  Extra emphasis on the word "some" in that sentence. I realize that if I want to do some layout work such as book layouts I will have to resort to using InDesign on my other computer. Can't wait for Affinity Publisher to come out!

    Having in mind what Designer and Photo offer right now, it woudn't be surprising if Publisher offers some vector and bitmap capabilities.

  6. I haven't used CD since about version 9 or 10, when it was no longer available for Mac OS. At least 10 years. AD does not have some features that CD had then, such as blends and mesh warps. CD's point editing was more advanced, better IMO than Illustrator, and there was a bit map tracing module that worked really well. But over all, AD seems to me to work more smoothly. And it does do some things that CD did not do as well back then, such as transparency and blend modes.

    IMHO, CorelDRAW has the best bitmap tracer utility.

  7. @retrograde  I don't distort type as my graphic design instructors were upset with the students that did that!

    @bleduc  The UI features is something Serif has been trying to push. I was thinking more about replacing some of my InDesign jobs with Affinity. Frames is another thing I thought about how I would replace with Affinity. I use frames for cropping photos like this for an example. I don't immediately remember how you do that with Affinity, seems like you use a layer mask?Schedule

    In this case you must wait for Affinity Publisher at the end of this(?) year. You can do a lot with Designer, but every app has it's own speciality.
