Hi, I would like to suggest footnotes type of numbering not to be on a Document level, but an attribute of paragraph styles. This way we could have different kind of footnotes numbering (asterisk, arabic noumbers, roman numbers, letters, other symbols) in one document and we could control where the numbering will have to restart. I got this idea today when a customer insisted to have only one asterisk footnote on the beggining of the story and all others must be numbers starting from 1. This can't be done automatically in ID or QXP, so here is a chance to be even better than they are.

Please, add a feature which will allow us to save multiple Find/Replace commands as sets. It will allow us to save sets that will replace dull tasks like replacing spaces/TABs at the beggining/end of a paragraph, removing double spaces, converting 3 dots into elipses... BTW, you should add "Repeat Find/Replace until nothing found" option in "Replace" dialog.

Absolute value must be in the parent style and to be easily distinguished from relative values it must not have additional symbols.

Please, add feature of insertion of vertical lines in the middle of the gutter (like Word has) with controls of its thickness, hight, color..

I agree, but it would be too complicated for explanation in only one post. I'm trying to keep the posts as simple as possible.

Please, allow entering relative values in "Font Size" like 80%, 140%, +2, -2... This will make changing text sizes for different page sizes much easier. To make this working there must be one style from where the others will take the absolute font size for calculation from. One scenario for A4 paper size: Body text -- font size 12 pt Footnote -- font size 80% (or -2) and must be based on "Body Text" Title -- font size 140% (or +6) and must be based on "Body Text" So, if you have to change the paper size to A5, you just change the Body Text font size to 10 pt and other styles will follow.

Please, add "Baseline Grid" in "Leading" together with "Exactly", "Multiple", "At Least"... This way body text will be linked with baseline grid and will follow its changes smoothly without jumpings. In this case "Align to Baseline Grid" will be no more needed.

InDesign has one logical and very useful feature. When you click on up/down arrow next to a value field, it is rounded to the nearest whole number and the next clicks are in steps of +1/-1. No decimals after that.

Hi, Manual rotation of the object (with handle) does not recognize choosen rotation reference point in Transform panel. It always rotate it from center.

Still no need for another Persona. BTW, in my 25+ years long career I never used Story Editor in PageMaker, InDesign or Quark. I always wanted to see how changes reflect to complete layout.

"Story Persona"? What for? For something that can occupy 1 or 2 rows of info? IMO Persona is created if only: there are too many tools connected together, or; there is no room on the workspace, or; just for clarity.

Thank you Patrick for your effort. I'm always willing to help people if I can. But translating foreign languages just to see what the author had to say and even with "Google Translate" which is not good enough... It will turn into galimatias if everybody starts to write in its mother tongue. English is choosen as lingua franca at least at this forum just because of efficency.

It is not a war. Just simple logic. It is much easier for the user who wants help to make an effort and translate the text into English, instead everyone who would like to help him.

What about if you have 10+ threads? Or imagine this. Let's say you work on an encyclopedia which has 20+ text boxes on each page and they are 200+ in total. What then?

No need for that. There are 3 casses: By default, the text info is for the whole document. If you select text then it is just for the selection. If there are multiple threads, with CTRL-A you can select the text in a specific thread and you will have the info for it.

it is called "text thread". Addition: # of chars with and without spaces.

Thanks for the update. Because Studio Link depends on synchronicity between all 3 apps, you should consider of announcing updates of all of them at same time.

By default the info would be for the whole document regardless the connection of the frames. If you select some text then the info would be for selected text only.

In QXP and ID if you change the value for the "left indent", the value for the f"irst line indent" is not changed.
