  1. Thank you very much Seneca, but it is too hard to decipher Affinity approach rather Quark's or InDesign's. At least, for me.
  2. I work with DTP apps 20+ years and it is the first time I see this combination of defining styles and it is very unusual (not to repeat myself).
  3. This is exactly the same window for defining character / paragraph styles. untitled.afphoto
  4. Options for Character and Paragraph styles are identical. Where did you see in Quark, InDesign, VivaDesigner... that there are elements of paragraph formating inside character styles? You MUST remove them. Example: Quark has paragraph styles without character formating options so you have to link separate character style. InDesign has paragraph styles WITH included character formating options AND separate (blind) character styles. BUT no one has character styles WITH included paragraph formating options inside. It's up to you what are you going to do next, but if you decide to make changes it is not so important which type of character/paragraph styles you will choose -- InDesign's or Quark's. If you don't make any changes then I am not interested in buying Publisher.
  5. Completely confusing and unusable. If A-team is going to implement into Pub -- :( :( :(
  6. @LCamachoDesign, be positive and you'll get everything you like on time. :)
  7. Hi filip89, just be patient. There is a lot work to do. As you can see both apps are at version 1.5. Just look behind and see what features Illustrator and Photoshop offered at version 1.5. Up to version 2.0 of Designer and Photo you will have myriad of features to play/work with.
  8. Well, I made some suggestions to the Affinity team about outdated infos and they corrected it after some time. So, all you have to do it is to tell them if something is wrong on their forum and they will do their best to make a correction. @MikeW: let's do it even simplier: everyone who is disapointed from Serif can just leave this forum without making the others nervous.
  9. An unwriten rule for bilboards is: width / 10 hight / 10 300 dpi So, if the width is 3 m, it is equal to 300 cm, then 300 / 10 = 30 cm width at 300 dpi.
  10. It has been discussed on the forum many times but Affinity team is strict upon this -- 3 separate apps, not one. I am also for one app, but at least they could join APh and AD into one because of many features they share.
  11. Speaking about Adobe... As I've heard (read) somewhere, they have different teams for developing PS, AI and ID and they don't colaborate but compete between themselves. It results on same features working differently in the other 2 apps. In the (near) future these 3 apps will have exactly the same features but with different approach. They, also, started to add something that do not belong to some of the apps, like: 3D modeling and video editing in PS, text/paragraph styles and photo effects in AI...
  12. @affi.usr: I used to be professional programmer during '85-'95, so I also know how much it takes to do something. But... every new feature must be tested how it cooperates with other features and, in Affinity case, with different OS's, different versions of OS's, drivers... That was irony about. :)
  13. "Importing" from Quark, InDesign... is only possible via PDF. Never mentioned there is not additional work to finished it. By now, there is a need of extremelly hard work, strong nerves, and it is almost impossible if you need to produce TOC, tables, footnotes...
  14. Just be patient. When you come back from the market, it will be ready expecially for you. And in the next few days you will have a monster, at least 10 times better than Photoshop, because it's thaaaaaaaaat easy. :)
  15. By converting into PDF and importing to Designer or Publisher when it comes out.
  16. What about those who have the previous version? Is update available and how, or we have to buy it again?
  17. Any chance asking the user to choose which color space (s)he preffers?
  18. Hi, I think it depends on how you create the new document. If you choose "Print (Press ready)" it will be prepared in CMYK and so the PDF. Otherwise, it will be created as RGB document.
  19. It would be nice if guides are set on separate layer and possibly grouped into folders to control the color, which of them will be vissible or not...
  20. Yes, I know. But, using them for everyday tasks is the best testing method.
  21. Hi, is it possible, because now Betas don't come out so frequently, not to time restrict them? I am using them them because they are newer than retail versions and they have more fixes done.
