It may be worth having a general chit chat forum also, otherwise some members may only ever visit the forum for the app they own.
Having a general chit chat forum makes a really great sense of community.
If the purpose of the Erase on the small text was for allowing the paper color to come through, either just use White all by itself without any effect, or subtract the text from the frame.
I would also simply combine the few elements that make up the frame/design.
I haven't used Illus- for at least 5 years. I think what you want is the AD boolean combine. Ungroup the shapes. Then select them and use "Layer/Geometry/Combine." or click the toolbar widget at the far right of the boolean operation gizmos. The resulting combine can be subtracted from the underlaying rectangle.
The Guides Manager is fairly flexible in that respect. In percent mode it respects parentheses so things like 100*(2/9) will also work. The equivalent in current measurement units like 100%*(2/9) doesn't seem to work while 100%/(9/2) does, so it is a bit quirky.
While you are at it, it would be nice if the Guides Manager supported the relational expressions like h/2 or h-5 that the Transform panel does.
The Guides Manager also accepts simple arithmetic operators & can be switched to display in percent. So you can do things like entering 100/3 & 200/3 in percent mode to divide the page into 3 sections.
Alternatively, save yourself some work by opening the Guides Manager without first dragging any guides onto the page. When you click on the 'Add new horizontal/vertical guide' icon at the bottom of either of the two panes in the Guides dialog, the new guide will be placed halfway down/across the page.
I would suggest dragging horizontal and vertical guides onto the page and drop them anywhere. Then open the Guides Manager (View menu), select one, edit the value and press Enter/Return to move it, then do the other guide the same way.
Hi Gaga5ft8,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
No, it's not restricted to one computer. You can install it on other computers you own. Just make sure you are signed-in in the App Store app with the same Apple ID used to buy the application on your first Mac. Then go to the Purchased section and click the corresponding Install button from the list.
I use a Wacom Intuos small pen tablet that I bought a few years ago. Model CTL-480. It has always worked flawlessly. At first I found it difficult to use because it's very different from a mouse, but I persevered and can now use it quite well. It's very good for freehand sketching, drawing and painting.
My wife and I both use this tablet and are pleased with it. Work ok with AD beta for windows. Don't install the driver from the disc go to the Huion site and download the latest version. John
Hey! I'm glad you picked them up! I think you'll really enjoy them while your getting your feet wet with Affinity designer- it's a great app and the community is stellar.
Just purchased this set...because I'm a sucker for promo codes :) Just starting to play around with Designer from watching tutorials - look forward to learning the brushes as well now too! Cheers.
Hi linmchugh,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
You didn't specify which program you are using.
If it's Affinity Photo go to menu Filters ▸ Colors ▸ Erase White Paper. This may not work for all colour images without protecting the subject with a selection first.
If it's Affinity Designer (there's no filters here) select the layer, click on the cog icon on the top right of the layers panel to open the Blend Options dialog, then on the on the Source Layers Ranges graph (on the left), drag the right endpoint to the bottom and the left endpoint to the right until the white starts disappearing just around the borders of the elements (they become semi transparent) - see screenshot (you can also use this method in Affinity Photo).
