Hi latingate, If you're using Affinity Photo you can use the Mesh Warp Tool. In Designer if you place an Shape on the page and then use File >Place and select your image. Once the image is placed on the canvas, using the Layers tab, drag the image underneath the shape (A small line will appear to the right).

Hi simplyny, Welcome to the forums. Affinity Designer can import illustrator files.however it relies on those files being saved with PDF compatibility this is the PDF stream that Designer uses to open them. Some older files used EPS instead, Designer will still open these, however some things like text may be converted to curves.

Snapping
Lee D replied to Designer123's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi Designer123, Welcome to the forums. You must enable local snapping to help you align nodes, select the Node Tool, on the context toolbar press Snap to selected curves button on the Snap section, you also some other available options, just in case. Now when you drag nodes Affinity should display guidelines to help you get them aligned. If you want to align with nodes from a different shape, you must select it too pressing shift and clicking on the shape while you're on the Node Tool. Also on the Snapping dropdown, you have more options available that be be enabled or disabled. If you have any suggestions on features you would like to see, please post them in the Feature Requests section of forum. -

Lasersoft/Silverfast
Lee D replied to jcrayst's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi jcrayst, I've just tested the SRDx plugin with the latest beta of Affinity Photo and it crashes the app. Our plugin support is always being improved, maybe in the future this plugin will work with Affinity Photo. -
PDF Export for Print
Lee D replied to redcup's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi redcup, How is the logo made, is it simple coloured shapes, does it have any effects applied, gradient fills? Would you be able to upload a sample Designer file, so I can take a look? -
tiff export compression
Lee D replied to dls's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi dls, Welcome to the forums. The .TIFF export currently doesn't have any options to change the compression method, this has previously been requested and may be included in a future update. -
PS Compatibility
Lee D replied to Wutan007's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi Wutan007, Welcome to the forums. Affinity Photo can import colour palettes from PS, they just need to be a .ase file (In PS, Save Swatches for Exchange). It doesn't support PS actions, but it's something that been requested and may be included in a future update. Instead of scripts, we have our own Macro system, it's still being developed to hopefully include more options. -
Hi ADS, Welcome to the forums, Affinity Photo doesn't have a smooth line option for the Paint brush, however if you use the Pen tool it has a Smooth mode as also a Smooth Curve action on the Context toolbar.

Color Profiles?
Lee D replied to OldHickory30's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi OldHickory30, The colour profiles will first need to be installed within the OS, if you're running macOS follow these steps: They should be installed in the Library folder (Colorsync > Profiles) located in your User's folder. The Library folder is hidden but can be accessed by selecting the Go menu (in Finder) and holding down the Option key. For Windows: Right click on the profile in Windows Explorer and click Install profile or copy the .icc profile to C:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\color. Open Control Center ▸ Color Management and then add the profile to the system by clicking the Add button. Click on the Advanced tab and look for Display Calibration. Calibration curve loading is enabled by the Use Windows display calibration checkbox but it is not sensitive. This can be enabled by clicking on Change system defaults and then returning to the Advanced tab and then clicking the checkbox. Close the dialog and click Reload current calibrations to set the gamma ramps. The profile calibration curves should now be set for every boot. Once they have been installed, you can change the app over to them via Preferences > Colour. Or you can use the Soft Proofing option which is available on the Adjustments tab. -

False update?
Lee D replied to markls's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Those still getting the prompt to update, can you use Help > About and check the version you are running and a screenshot of the message. -
Hi Eoin, Welcome to the forums. Select one of the existing pages, the last one for example, now select the Artboard Tool from the left hand side menu (Below Move Tool). On the Context toolbar now click on Create Artboard, and a new one will be inserted with the same dimensions as the one selected. Once created you can then rename it by double clicking on the Artboard in the Layers tab and then moving it into position.
