Remask5
Lee D replied to pioneer's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi pioneer, Topaz Remask 5 is one of the few Topaz plugins that still has issues, our plugin support is always being improved and hopefully it will be fully compatible in the future. See this link for a list of plugins that work and don't work in Affinity Photo, this will be updated overtime. -
AP crashes
Lee D replied to Adam Kielcz's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi Adam, Are the images you're opening RAW or another format, how big are they and how many? When multiple images are open in Affinity Photo you have tabs with the filenames across the top of the images, so you can switch between them. Batch processing is done from the File menu, File > New Batch Job, a link to download the free macros was included in your confirmation email, click the link and you will be taken to the page to download. -
Swap sky
Lee D replied to Gary Hunt's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi Gary, We have a video tutorial available on sky replacement which shows the process. Basically you use the selection brush and then the Refine feature to do a more detailed selection around objects such as trees and leaves. Then you can use the File >Place option to insert a new sky and then resize to match. However like any image, the better quality you have the better the result will be. -
Hi Chimper, Welcome to the forums. I can't seem to reproduce the issue, the OK button remains active going through the same process. To cover all bases can you export your macro and send it to me here via this forum or PM/Dropbox link just so I can test it on my system. You can try resetting the app by holding down the CTRL key while opening. When prompted make sure Reset Macro Library is NOT checked and then click Clear. If it is checked your macros will be lost and I don't want that to happen :(

Hi Patrick_1406, Welcome to the forums. We use Lensfun database for our Lens correction, not all lens and camera are supported yet. However you can help by uploading some sample calibration images, the more people that can do this the bigger the lens correction database will be become. Otherwise you can try an internet search on your lens to see if the settings are available.

Hi ND, Welcome to the forums. I've tested a couple of RAW images from a Canon 5D MK IV opening them in Affinity Photo and another app and there is a slight difference between the two. However a small adjustment to the Exposure and they look the same, within the Develop persona is the Assistant, this has a few more options that you may want to experiment with when opening images.

Hi pkr1979, You should be able to add Affinity Photo to Capture One so you can Open with/Edit in, this may be setup in Preferences but without having the app I can't say for sure.

File Format Specification
Lee D replied to ptc's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi ptc, Welcome to the forums. I'm afraid our developers have no plans to make our apps file formats public, so that third party apps cans handle them. As we are planning on developing our own DAM application to manage them. -
Hi Peregrin, We don't have any current plans to add plugin support into Affinity Designer, however this may change in the future. Hopefully as Affinity development continues and it becomes more popular, plugin makers will want to make their plugins compatible with Affinity Photo and work with our developers to achieve this.

Plug ins
Lee D replied to TrevorW's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi Tw48, I've just tested the Nik collection and they are working for me in 1.5.1, I don't have any Topaz plugins to test at the moment. Plugin support/compatibility is always being improved as development continues. -
Hi Sascha, Here is the list of the supported Lenses, currently supported by Affinity Photo, which I'm sure will be added to over time. It will only apply the corrections if needed, so sometimes you may not see any difference. Some improvements have been made to this and are in the latest beta build available here.

Hi Asn, Welcome to the forums. The trials will be available soon for you to try again, you may want to wait until then to test the files first. Affinity Designer can open AI files as long as they have been saved with the PDF Compatible File option enabled as Designer reads the embedded PDF file when opening. Can't say about InDesign files as Affinity Publisher is still in development, we're aiming to have a beta available in 2017.

Hi M D P, If the beta wasn't removed using the uninstaller, you may need to run a program such as CCleaner to scan for left overs files. Once one of these has removed the files or entries try running the installer again. Also make sure no other programs are running that may interfere with the installation in anyway.

Hi Matthias1965, Welcome to the forums. The new 1.5 update features Lens profiles, these are applied automatically when a RAW file is being opened in the Develop persona. This can be turned off within the Develop Assistant, you can also do it manually using the Lens Correction tab. Here you can save a preset to use again if you wish by clicking on the Preset dropdown and selecting Add Preset.

Hi coleson1201, Welcome to the forums. Are you saving to an affinity file format (.afphoto) or back to the original format JPEG for example. Below are some of the reasons why our files sizes can be larger than expected. Our format is optimised for loading speed and not size. Saving typically stores the JPEG as well, and then store multiple copies of the image at successively smaller resolutions. We also have the option of saving history with the document, this allows for steps to be undo/reverted. Snapshots can also take up room, these can be deleted.
