Pantone -> CMYK
Lee D replied to gorschten's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi gorschten, If you select Pantone 234 CP from Pantone Colour Bridge Coated V2, you will get the same CMYK values (18,100,6,18) as the Pantone site is quoting for 234 C & 234 CP. The conversion is using the files supplied to us by Pantone so they will be valid. The values can also be checked once you have exported to PDF. I checked this using InDesign and that uses the same process as we do. -
Hi Alex_M, It's not the same as PS but to get a straight line using the Brush Tool, click the canvas first, then holding shift, click another area of the canvas, it will create a straight line between the two points. A feature similar to what you describe has been previously requested and may be something added in the future. Another requested feature is to use the arrow keys to move a crop frame as they do with the Marquee Selection Tools.

Hi cyclicopath, Welcome to the forums. Like most photo editing apps, Affinity Photo has a dedicated section for processing RAW files. The Develop persona allows you to make basic adjustments to your image before switching to the Photo persona for more advanced adjustments. You also have access to tools, such as the Develop assistant which can automatically apply certain adjustments, like lens corrections or they can be done manually from the Lens panel.

Profiles
Lee D replied to David Cantor's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi David, Welcome to the forums. The option on the File menu can be used to easily import an ICC profile into Affinity Photo. The profile is stored within Photo and isn't available to other apps, it also adds the profile to the Convert and Assign ICC options on the Document menu and the Soft Proofing adjustment. Convert allows the current profile to be converted to another and you can Assign a colour profile as you create a document or at any point during the session. The lists are made up of profiles available to both OS and the app. -
Assets search results
Lee D replied to Bento's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi Bento, The search will only apply to the subcategory that's being viewed/open, a general search may be added in the future. Can you try using the current beta of Affinity Designer as this doesn't seem to crash or have any issues when switching subcategories. -
Macro errors
Lee D replied to Belmont's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi Belmont, Welcome to the forums. It's an issue we are aware of with the Windows version of Affinity Photo. This has been resolved internally and should be in the next available beta for testing. -
Hi David, Welcome to the forums. The RAW files are still the original ones, they have been set to open with Affinity Photo by default. If you right click the file and select Get Info and check the Opens with dropdown, try changing it to Preview. The thumbnail may change to a default one, this may be due to macOS not having built in support for that RAW type.

Hi Bumblebee, Welcome to the forums. I've tested the current builds on Lion (10.7.5) installed on an older mac we have and they install and open fine. Can you confirm that you downloaded the trials and double clicked to start the extraction which once finished then asks you to drag the icon to the Applications folder. Try holding down the CTRL key and opening the app, a new window will appear, select Clear and then see if this allows the app to open.

Hi BatteriesInc, Using the Colour Replacement Brush Tool in Affinity Photo, you first need to select the colour you wish to change to on the Colour Panel. I'd stick with one of the Basic brushes, you'll have options to adjust on the Context Toolbar like Width, Opacity etc, you can also adjust the Tolerance level. Remember this process will replace the targeted colours hue with the replacement colours hue while retaining lightness.

Colour Separation
Lee D replied to psycleworkz's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi psycleworkz, Welcome to the forums. The print dialogue in Affinity doesn't have an option for colour separation, this may be added in the future once we've released Affinity Publisher. You could setup spot colours and export to PDF. -
Hi Jojoba816, Welcome to the forums. If you aren't seeing thumbnail previews of RAW files when using File > Open for example this will be due to the OS not having built in support for that file type. The supported RAW list for Affinity Photo, lists all the different RAW files that Photo can open, but we don't create the thumbnails for these on the open/browse dialogues.

MAC dont open
Lee D replied to JJI's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi JJI, Welcome to the forums. I can't seem to reproduce this issue using my MacBook Pro running Sierra, with Affinity Designer open. Once I close the lid wait a few moments and reopen I'm greeted with my password prompt, after that, Designer is still running. Is this happening with any other apps and can you confirm the version of Designer you have installed. -
Printing
Lee D replied to RWells's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi RWells, Welcome to the forums. Affinity Photo doesn't have that feature available, if you think this would make a good future feature. Please post in our Feature Requests section on the forum. -
Hi Ronan1888, Welcome to the forums. Are you sure they are PNG files as that format standard doesn't support layers, some apps used to save as layered PNGs but it was unique to those apps. How are you seeing the layers displayed using Preview? Do you have a PDF version of the file which was used to create the PNG file?
