Trog got a reaction from BennyD in Affinity Publisher Import and Sync Google Docs Content
I keep hoping for a publishing solution that caters for collaborative editing of content by multiple authors on the fly... if Publisher has something like this built in then I will be a happy man, but if not then the ability to import from a google docs file and synchronise updates with it would be a brilliant work around.
There is a solution out there for InDesign but it is completely outrageously priced for a plugin. Also I realise that InCopy exists but that requires all of the people you are working with to have a copy of it... which is never possible.
Collaborative editing in Affinity Publisher would be a game changer!

Trog got a reaction from Mr. Doodlezz in Ipad Mockup Using Live Perspective Filer (Smart Object
Hi everyone,
Having seen MrDoodlezz really cool letterhead mockup which you can find here, I thought I would have a go and have created an Ipad equivalent using the live filters as well!
Please find the Affinity Photo file:
Download here.
Feel free to use for whatever you like!
The image used and all embedded images are from www.unsplash.com.
Hope it is useful for people!
Cheers

Trog got a reaction from Mr. Doodlezz in Simple Letterhead Mockup
Ah I've been looking for something similar to this for ages! This is really cool!
The smart objects mockup function is the one piece of Photoshop that I use the most, really missed it when using Photo for the first time. I wonder if they can get Photo to recognise Photoshop smart objects as live perspective filter objects...? This would mean all those thousands of Photoshop mockups the available would be useable in Affinity Photo which would be amazing!
How did you achieve this Dennis? Would be great to be great to have an understanding of how to make my own mockups rather than relying on random internet downloads all of the time.

Trog got a reaction from MattP in Affinity Designer Customer Beta (1.5 - Beta 1)
Finding a consistent bug using symbols.
If I alt-click to replicate a text box within the symbol it links the two text boxes (not sure if this is intentional but it doesn't seem like logical behaviour to me) then when I delete the text in the second box it deletes both boxes and Affinity crashes. I've now replicated this four times in a row by accident! :)
Other than the occasional crash though the symbols functionality is brilliant, I do a lot of graphics for documents where one element is highlighted to show a position within a heirachy, using the symbols means that when someone wants to make changes to the layout of the main graphic, I can do that and each version which has a different highlighted element changes with it. This will save me hours and hours of re-work in the future so a big thank you here!
One last question... is it just me or does the zoom feel different in the Beta? I keep having to re-position the page after I've zoomed because it doesn't seem to zoom in the place that I expect?

Trog got a reaction from MattP in Looking through the Windows...
I've got bootcamp so that I can do some SharePoint stuff, will definitely use the beta on there to see what it's like! Currently also trying to convince as many of my colleagues as possible to use it on their Windows machines so that we can work natively on the files I produce, so will report back with any of their experiences too.

Here is my latest concept art for Luminare Saga, my client's top-down game. The attached images show my steps in creating this. All work done with Affinity Photo. You can see more of these and some of my process on my Artstation profile.

Trog reacted to Goner__ in Development Status - Where is Affinity 1.5 Beta?
And the Lord saith: Thou shall atone for thine sins by releasing another beta soon. And 1.5 beta. And, like, ehm..., Publisher... ;) (seriously, I have been waiting for that one for ages and had to buy both Designer and Photo just to endure the pain... Addictions can be funny - turns out I am addicted to something I have never seen or imbibed yet. )

Trog got a reaction from meils in Development Status - Where is Affinity 1.5 Beta?
First of all can I say that I absolutely love Affinity, completely smitten with it and I use it heavily every single day.
This thread has gone cold for nearly a month now and I am quite sad because I check it every single day in anticipation!
What is the current status of the beta and when can we expect to see some movement?
Some of the work I am doing this month would be about a hundred times quicker with the symbols functionality so am hoping the answer is soon :)
Keep up the good work guys, thanks!

Trog got a reaction from Mr. Doodlezz in Align to Last Selected
Hi,
Firstly can I just say that I love the tool, it feels so great to use!
One feature that I would love to see implemented is an 'align to last selected' or 'align to first selected' option.
So basically whenever you use the align buttons they would always snap to whichever object the user selected last, or first, depending on the user's preference.
Inkscape has a great option menu which allows you to select which you would like to align to based on your preferences. In my opinion this is even more useful than the 'align to key object' system which Illustrator uses, as the key object system requires an extra click which slows things down.
Anyway keep up the good work!
