    Features / Improvements / Fixes

    - Pixel selections now honour the current artboard when selecting all / inverting the selection - Deleting the last artboard will not cause you to have a document of zero dimensions - Fix for marching ants disappearing when the canvas is rotated - Fix for text blurring on some buttons in the UI for retina screens - Export persona’s Slice panel now sets the exportable state for all items in the selection, not just the current item - Fix for objects placed on the spread in an artboard document disappearing when moved again - Move Tool’s marquee drag is no longer hidden when the ‘Hide selection while dragging’ option is set - Fix for marquee selection within artboards not working - Artboard documents without transparency should draw empty artboards with an opaque background - Canvas rotation now makes the grid rotate properly - Many PDF export and import improvements - Fix for many crashes seen after loading documents with saved history where an artboard has been used - Fix for document view having visible borders at different zoom levels and pan locations - Fix snapping marker rendering in the Node Tool - The performance cat has lost his ‘Miaow’ in the Preferences dialog (and Matt mourns its loss) - Artboard labels can now be clicked to select the artboard easily. We’ll make this draggable for next time so you can drag the artboard from here too.

OK, we'll give more control over printers marks.

If you check both Favour editable text over fidelity and Group lines of text into text frames, then Designer will try to turn text into reflowing paragraphs with tabstops and alignment. That is what Publisher will do, too; they will use the same code. We won't be importing native Indesign files.

For me, at this moment i don't care about if the Affinity Publisher open or not the InDesign files, i have the strong ideia the Publisher make me leave the InDesign like the Affinity Design and Affinity Photo to that.
About the old work's made by InDesign is right i say old work's, forget the past, go to the future, learn, teaches, share your new works...
All of this just for say, i want to try the Affinity Publisher :)

I also recommend here to have the option to use all marks, just cropmarks or cropmarks with filename/date/page, just to be flexible for output like: private printing, copyshops and professional printers. Thanks :)

Currently no; printers marks are all or nothing for PDF. Is that a problem, or merely a preference?

Not yet, but we plan to add that soon.

When checked, it enables some PDF features that reduce file size and improve quality, but which some other apps don't understand. The features currently include gradient fills, 1-bit masks, stretched and stroked text, and tiling patterns.

Hopefully this will be resolved when we preview bleed on the canvas, but it will be worth checking again to make sure it doesn't get overlooked.

    Hi guys,
finally the printers marks! (and Illustrator is closer to the trash)
OK, some questions: if I export in pdf (PDF/X-4) all printers marks are added, but is possible to add only the crop marks? (no name, date, hour, and so on)
Is it possible to view the bleed in the canvas?
What is the "Allow advanced futures" check box?

    Bye
    Paolo

Ops, I forgot: If I add a guide in the bleed space the guide is deleted: is it a beta limitations or si it a bug?

This beta is basically the same as yesterday's 1.3.5.8 release, but addresses the following issues:
    - Fix for issues found with OS X Mavericks and earlier
    - Fix for margins/guides not being correctly loaded/saved
    - Miscellaneous PDF export improvements
    - Fix for Place Image panel crashing

    Notable changes:
    - PDF import/export improvements, particularly in the area of bleed and trimboxes
    - Pantone/Global colour improvements. Application and Document palettes are now searchable
    - Artboards now have their own guides and snapping grids: These currently still need work.
    - Disabled page resizing options when using artboards
    - Fix for the ‘document’ artboard size making ever-larger artboards when used from the Artboard Tool’s context toolbar
    - Added double-click to edit palette colours
    - Visual indication that documents are loading (in the application title bar)
    - Fix for non-retina drawing of UI in Layers panel - the disclosure triangle was drawn incorrectly
    - Added ‘Hide Selection’ option to context toolbar of some tools - use it to hide the tool drawing while dragging
    - Context toolbars changed to use icon instead of text ‘reset bounding box’ so that it occupies less space
    - Improved performance when complicated grids are visible - more to come though…
    - Improved printers marks
    - Changing paragraph indent now also changes the first line indent too
    - Fix for view appearing blurry at times when translated by a sub-pixel amount
    - Canvas rotation with the trackpad can now be disabled from Preferences
    - Increase font size for Japanese version
    - Paragraph panel fixes
    - Switching documents via Command+Tilda is now a customisable shortcut

Edit: This build currently only works on Yosemite and El Capitan.

I totally agree with jackamus: guidelines should be lockable. Moving guides instead of intended objects - been there so many times...

I haven't yet downloaded the latest Beta as it has nothing to offer me in the kind of work I do.

Just a little tiny nudge to the Developer's office.
It really would be very useful not to have to move a guide line in order to select a line that lies directly on it. The Guide need to stay where I put it otherwise it will not be a guide line!

Is drawing to scale still on the cards for the future?

It is going to be added as I know it's on a lot of users' wish lists, but so are a large number of other things that can't be worked around, so these are currently a higher priority, being realistic. :(  I am hoping to start adding arrowheads in about 3 months time.

    Thanks,
    Matt

+1 for arrow heads. I have iDraw for the sole feature of its arrowheads & line styles. It has dimension lines with labels – draw a line with with the label style and it automatically adds arrow heads and the length of the line is dynamically as text in the middle. It is incredibly time saving if you need to add measurements to a detailed floorplan or a display stand for an expo.

Please have look at iDraw for inspiration when you get around to developing this feature.

(I think our biggest frustration regarding the lack of arrowheads is that we have had it in other apps for more than 10 years, so we assume it's now practically an opensource feature with the code being widely available – not a complex new feature requiring massive R&D)

    Thanks guys.

We plan to do that. The UI wasn't ready for this beta. However, we felt that overprinting black by default would be a useful feature in addition to per-colour black, and it happened to get completed first.

Matt, it would be useful to allow individual, per-color overprint, not just limit it to black... Also it might be good to have that set up via the swatches palette as well... awesome work!

Thanks Garytagreg and ronnyb for the 3-finger gesture tips. For me, still on Maverick, It works like a charm, even on those sliders in AD and AP.

Garytagreg: the behavior shown in your video is like a nightmare. What is this circle around your pointer: is it from the screen recording app?
