  1. I hadn't seen this comparison between Photo and Designer's Pixel Persona, interesting, and I admit I hadn't thought about this dilemma. In any case, I would opt for the priority of zooming on an active, unhidden pixel selection in Photo as much as in Pixel Persona. A point of view from the Navigator panel is far from a substitute for on-the-fly zooming, I see no downsides, only advantages to having this Zoom to Selection menu.
  2. Tabbing cycles through the styles in the drop-down list. With the focus on [No Style], pressing Enter does the same thing as clicking: the formatting is previewed correctly, but not ultimately applied.
  3. Request: Zoom to Selection menu also in Affinity Photo. This menu, present in Designer and Publisher, and especially its reassignable shortcut, is truly the most practical way to resize a collage / image placement to an area 10 or 20 times smaller than the inserted object. Simple, consistent across the software suite... double-clicking the thumbnail in the Layer Manager should just be an additional option.
  4. Affinity Publisher, 2.6.3 / latest Beta 2.6.4.3439 Windows 10 Affinity Publisher reset to factory settings AMD Radeon rendering and acceleration Issue: Cannot reset text / paragraph style from the context toolbar You cannot reset, i.e. format it to No Style, a selection containing multiple character / paragraph styles using the Character Style and Paragraph Style drop-down lists in the context toolbar. The preview will show you a correct result, but ultimately the operation will not be performed. On the other hand, the operation will be applied if you go through the Text Styles list window (Windows > Text Styles). I see this as a general issue affecting these drop-down boxes across the Affinity software suite. For reference, see my post regarding Photo 2.6.3 / Beta 2.6.34.3322. (AF-7799)
  5. True, but the operation should still be possible without unpleasant surprises in the rare cases where it is desired by the user, and this is a bug that must be eliminated for the principle of a clean, functional program. The mere fact that the preview does it the right way and the operation is not subsequently applied indicates that there's a problem.
  6. What's the point of undo? It's hard to see this as a safety feature, when you might have the misfortune of multi-selecting, for example by swiping in one direction or another, a first object that will allow you to perform the operation because it has a mode that doesn't match the collective mode you want to apply. Real safety would be to indicate that you're dealing with a multi-selection that includes a variety of different modes. Also, as carl123 points out, using the shortcut to a mode will apply it without warning. Before posting, I thought about this, bug vs. feature. It really is a bug.
  7. The last image was not intended in the post, don't know why it is there...
  8. Affinity Photo, latest Beta 2.6.3.3322 Windows 10 Affinity Photo reset to factory settings AMD Radeon rendering and acceleration Problem: Failing in applying a blend mode to multiple selected layers For a selection of layers, when the first layer in the "stack" of selected layers is already in the blend mode you want to apply to all of them, the mode is not applied to all these layers. Surprisingly, the preview of the operation shows a correct result, but the mode is ultimately not applied to all selected layers. Problem reproduction: 1/ Create three overlapping rectangles, then set the green rectangle's blend mode to Darken, the blue rectangle to Lighten. We want to change the mode to Normal for all layers at once: 2/ Select all the rectangles by swiping from the left, or by clicking, then shift-clicking, starting with the red rectangle. This selection creates a "selection stack" with the red rectangle first, which can be seen in the Layers window: the Normal mode for this rectangle is displayed. 3/ Apply Normal mode to all rectangles: when you hover over the modes, the preview displays the correct result, even hovering over the Normal mode. Now, actually apply Normal mode -> the result will be incorrect; the Normal mode has not been applied to all rectangles. As a counterexample, this time the bug will not occur: Instead of 2/, select by swiping from the right, or click then shift + click not starting with the red rectangle. By swiping from the right, the blue rectangle is the first in the "selection stack", and this can be seen in the Layers window, with its Lighten mode displayed. Now apply Normal mode; this time, the result will be correct, all layers mode set to Normal: Conclusion: The success of applying a blend mode at once to multiple selected layers depends on the order in which they were selected, which is a bug. Note: Temporarily, to get around this bug, apply an intermediary blending mode that doesn't match the one displayed in the layer window, that of the layer that is first in the “selection stack”, then apply the initially desired mode.
  9. I downloaded your latest update, Affinity Photo Beta, 2.6.0.3078. 1) I complained that Alt + D didn't activate any menus. This was due to a customization I made earlier. So from now I'll test / reset the application with that in mind if necessary. This problem that I created myself, sorry, is actually non-existent / solved. 2) You removed the accent but kept Alt + D / "Edition" / d when the whole point of removing the accent was to establish Alt + E / "Edition" / E as the accelerator ... ? "Edition" is not optimal since Alt + D cycles between the "Edition" and "Document" menus, requiring the use of the Return, Up or Down arrow keys to unroll them and then another keystroke to activate one of the submenus, Eg. "Rétablir" (Redo) requires: Alt + D, Key(Ret/Up/Down), R instead of just Alt + E, R. 3) The collision/cycling between "Fichier" (File) and "Fenêtre" (Window) is annoying. Since the Alt + N shortcut is not used anywhere in the application, replacing "Fenêtre" with "Fenêtre" would be welcome. This accelerator is a common practice, as anything that interferes with the File and Edit menus should be avoided if possible. In summary, keeping as much as possible the English-French similarities, the best combinations are:
  10. Hello, I applied the last update for Affinity Photo Beta and I could see that my request was taken into account very quickly, I am grateful to you. But there is a misunderstanding: you changed the keyboard accelerator to "d" ... ? . In addition, I don't know why, but Alt + D does not work, not even for the Document menu. Repeating myself here, but the standard in Windows for this standard menu, in every French localized software, whether produced by Microsoft or others, has always been VERY SIMPLE: label: Edition NO ACCENT on the E, underlined here due to the action of the Alt key accelerator : E obviously, an unaccented E resulting key combination : Alt + E the simple, usual, "muscle memory" STANDARD key combination
  11. Bonjour, First, thank you for your reply, and please excuse me for mine being so late, your notification email has been hidden as spam. You got it correctly. I am talking about the Alt + underlined letters combination assigned to a menu that Microsoft calls keyboard accelerators. I have never used a software appart Affinity Suite presenting the Edit menu in French as "Édition", with É as the shortcut instead of "Edition", E, no accent. 1) É as a shortcut works using the Alt + [ é ] key combination but is disconcerting in regard of the É/é mismatch and is unlike Alt + [ E ] difficult to form with one hand. 2) Windows softwares themselves have always used "Edition", Alt + [ E ], no accent, in their French version. You can run Notepad, Regedit on a French localized Windows system to see it. 3) You can't physically produce this exact Alt + [ actually non-existing É ] key combination on a French / Swiss French keyboard, so I think it must disqualify this shortcut. 4) Moreover, File, Edit and Help menus are the basic main menus in Windows applications templates that have their de facto standard wording and shortcut keys for each language available since a long time ago, and you break an automatism if you change it for a menu of such importance. So, Edit menu in French -> "Edition", E, no accent. And more generally, no accented capital letter configured as a shortcut in a French menu because it will be impossible to form it in combination with the Alt key. By the way, capitalizing a lowercase accented letter to a capital letter losing the accent is correct in French spelling, even if not recommended in certain cases. Thank you for your attention.
  12. Setting the É character as a keyboard accelerator for the 'Edit' menu, 'Édition' in french, prevents keyboard access to the menu for french-speaking users since uppercase accented characters are formed with a combination of two keys, even on a French, Canadian, Swiss, ... keyboard. As a general rule, please don't use these accented capitalized in any menu name, just the uppercase base character.
