  1. Sorry to hijack, but what's DAM? I thought Publisher was the last of the Affinity suite.
  2. Hi, I hope you don't mind, but I have a question about your question. Out of my own curiosity, I googled "Illustrator restate line" (because I've never heard of that before) and nothing relevant came up. I also googled "Illustrator restate path" and "Illustrator restate stroke" and also nothing. Is there perhaps another, more official term used to describe the feature you're referring to? Sorry I can't be of any help, but perhaps if people more clearly understand the feature you're talking about, they'd be able to do more to help.
  3. Mike Austin makes extensive use of custom vector brushes in Illustrator (which I know because he posts Ai tutorials on YouTube and his subscription site). He has some of the best vector pieces I've ever seen. Here is a link to his DeviantArt gallery: http://humannature84.deviantart.com/gallery/ ETA: I'd also love for this functionality to be added to AD! :)
  4. Thank you all for your replies. :) I'm expecting to purchase both apps, because for the price, why not. I suppose it just surprised me, the extent to which Designer blurs the line in the raster-vector dichotomy. Which isn't a bad thing, of course. Asha, if memory serves me, you're a member of the Procreate forum as well. Mind if I ask you how Affinity Photo compares to the Procreate experience?
  5. According to what I've read from the Affinity team on these forums and social media, Serif intends to release a fully functional version of Designer (and I believe Photo as well?) for the iPad Pro. No ETA though.
  6. Thank you for your replies, that gives me something to chew on. :) Let me be a bit more specific about the information that I'm looking for... Digital artists/painters, what features of Affinity Photo do you use in your works that are NOT also available in Designer?
  7. It's been years since I've touched Illustrator so I can't say for sure, but I didn't think it had blendable raster brushes like Designer does (referring to the DAUB set)? That's the main thing that's making me think that a dedicated raster app may not be necessary for me.
  8. I'm looking at the feature sets of both Affinity Designer and Photo, and I see that Designer already has most (if not all) of the features that digital raster artists need. It has traditional media brushes, layer opacity and blend modes, blending brushes, selection tools. I might LIKE to have the mesh distort tool for my digital art, but I don't really need it. That's all I can really think of as far as essential features for my digital art, which makes me wonder if Photo would be redundant for my purposes. I'd like to know what fellow digital painters think about this. :)
  9. Hi! I'm here because someone posted the Designer for iPad video on the Procreate (by Savage Interactive) forum. Another person on that thread linked to THIS thread here and I registered just to post on it. Rest assured that we Procreate users are VERY much looking forward to the iPad version of Affinity Designer! We've long been looking for a vector iPad app that is on par, quality-wise, with Procreate (which is the best raster/painting app on the App Store, bar none!). Closest thing we've had thus far has been iDraw by Indeeo, but that app just hasn't received the same level of TLC from its developers and it shows (in fact, it appears to have changed hands and belongs to Autodesk now). Once Designer is released for iPad, it will be THE vector app for iOS. I'm sure you guys at Serif already know that, but it doesn't hurt to hear it from a user who has tried most (if not all) of Designer's major competition apps on iOS. :) I'd be using Designer for Mac right now if my Macbook wasn't in its geriatric stage... no moolah for a new Macbook so I've been doing all my work on iPad. Anyway, yes PLEASE update us when you get a chance!
