  1. Might be related to a failing HD and or corrupt .DS_store files as some research revealed. Random files failed to open also when copying giving the -36 I/O error. Clearing .DS_store made files accessible again for copying/opening in AP. Have to wait and see if hard disk is going to fail hardware wise.

That said/written: the fact that AP hard crashes when this type of error occurs without being able to see what is happening is not as it should be in my opinion. When trying to open a file that cannot be read from disk I expect an error message saying as much, not a hard crash. Tried to open the problematic file(s) in photoshop. They couln't be opened in PS either, but PS didn't crash but gave an error message that the file could not be opened due to an i/o error. Feature request!

  2. Disabled metal in AP. Rebooted the system.  Didn't change the behaviour: still crashes. Sometimes after loading/profile assigning/converting 1-3 files, sometimes after 6 files, sometimes after 1 file and sometimes during loading of the first file. Tried also loading 8, 5 and 4 files but that doesn't make any difference. Makes it quite unworkable once it happens.

  3. Installed 1.8.4. Experiencing a lot of crashes of the program, especially when loading 8 tif (scan) files at once (using drop on window of open file with from finder). Files aren't that big, 115 Mb each. After loading a file working profile is assigned or converted to. Using a Mac Pro (Mid 2010) with 16 GB internal mem, metal enabled, 2x quadcore. Didn't have this problem with previous version.

  4. Hi Walt, Thanks for the reaction. No I can't export. I do use text flow enabled. But I can't select it. If i click on it nothing happens. On the layers panel of that page the frame isn't visible as a layer. When adding a new spread and delete the old spread the frame is on the new spread. Closing/restarting still shows the frame. Rebooting the system doesn't help either. So...

  5. I am stuck with a text frame that is partly outside the spread/margins. Frame is empty and not connected to any other frame. I cannot select it and delete it. I makes export "impossible" because of an "overflow error" (no other overflowing text frames visible with textflow enabled).

    Any thoughts?

Ah, that indeed appears way of contradictory.

I even would expect a text frame grid alignment would automatically be according to its frames text alignment setting, so for bottom aligned text its frame grid would be bottom aligned by default – without a need to choose "bottom of frame" from the pulldown menu.

[whereas your "all last text lines (where applicable, main text (...)" makes me wonder, if you want to have a baseline grid for the page starting from bottom and have its gap with the margin at the top of the page? Wouldn't a good grid respect both margins and have it set to a value which fits into the space between top and bottom margins without 'decimals'? ]

My main base grid starts at the top margin. The bottom line is on the bottom margin. So the main text is aligned perfectly. The text frame for notes has another spacing and thus the problem as described.

Not sure what exactly you are missing, I still see two baseline grids: one via menu View > Baseline Grid Manager..., the other via panel Text Frame > Baseline Grid, and I can let a bottom aligned text start at bottom page margin.

Yes I all have that too. :) But in the previous beta there was an option in the "relative to" fly out menu in the text frame baseline grid that was called: "bottom of frame"that isn't available anymore. As you can see in your own screenshot that the text is indeed aligned with the grid, but the grid itself isn't aligned with the bottom border of the frame. I.e. I align the bottom of that text frame with the general baseline grid. In this case the baseline grid of the text frame doesn't align with that but is slightly above it. For footnotes I want the bottom text line in that text frame to be aligned with the gridline  of the general baseline grid  that is on the same position (in my case that is on the bottom margin line). Now it is almost impossible to quickly aline those grid lines.

I want all last text lines (where applicable, main text and footnote text) to be on the bottom margin line.

  8. Using a baseline grid for the text part and a separate text frame baseline grid for manually placing footnotes at the bottom of the page (margin). In the beta I was able to aline the text frame baseline grid to the bottom of that frame. That has disappeared in the commercial one.  Love to see that back. Now it is almost impossible (for me?) to get the notes in their frame to line up on the bottom margin as their seems to be a conflict with the placing of the note frame. Note text is bottom aligned. Textframe grid is relative to top of frame.

    Any clues?
