In v1.9.0.211 the Shift-Tab shortcut in the Transform Panel does not work as expected (tab back).
In addition, the Tab key doesn't bring the user from S: to X:, what I intuitively thought.

    Hi Peter Labrow,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
Good points Peter. I will pass them to the dev team. Thanks for your feedback.

chr.schmitz reacted to Pining in Copy/paste slice or edit all slices -- is this possible?
I'm creating a font using Affinity Designer and I have to export each letter individually, this could be done easily but I need the slices to be 256x256 in their dimensions. Right now the only ways I know how to do this is by either dragging and creating a lot of 256x256 slice squares or by turning each letter object into a slice but then I would have to rescale those as well!

It would be really useful if there was a way to just copy drag a slice, or being able to edit the transform of multiple selected slices. Am I missing something or is this really not possible?

chr.schmitz got a reaction from ꜱᴩʀɪᴛᴇ➀ in Export of coordinates of slices
I finally found that the export of x and y positions of slices is already possible. If you select in the Export Persona Batch builder: Spine JSON together with the slices a JSON file is exported. This file contains center x and y positions as well as the size of the exported object. With these information it is easy to calculate the positions of each corner. Interestingly (0, 0) is the lower left corner of the image, and not the upper left corner as in Affinity.
It should not be too much additional work to add some export formats in easier readable format, such as CSV.
    Cheers,
    Chris

I’m so totally stoked about this beta. I have spent a couple hours poking around, and I can say that this beta is further along than I expected. I have high hopes that this will in time replace Indesign for us (a small publisher), and it looks well on track.
Among several features that wowed right away and other "missing features" that I can work around, the one thing that stood out for me is the lack of GREP searches. In Indesign, I have a small series of GREP searches that I have saved over the past years, and I run nearly everything through them. A couple minutes on a typical file, and I have made several hundred changes. When I work on a book, the changes are in the thousands. (Note: I publish in French, and French typography relies heavily on non-breaking spaces; these GREP searches help me rapidly put them where they ought to go.)
While you're there: being able to save the searches as presets would be ideal. And as not everyone is familiar with GREP, a few pre-saved searches would help provide them immediate use: remove multiple spaces, remove trailing space, etc.

I started the following thread some time ago:
As there seem to be more and more people interested in this feature, I place now an official feature request:
It would be awesome if you could implement a function, which allows resizing multiple existing objects individually keeping their current positions.
    Best,

Yes, I am missing this feature almost every day. All workarounds have their limitations.

Would be really useful to be able to duplicate slice or create a master slice that would be the reference for its duplicate ones being able to adjust one that would adjust them all.

Also being able to set size of the slice manually

Aso to have some king of predefine slice rules such as always snap multiple of...2

Also being able to select all layer and change par of their name like the first part if the name of all sliced layers.

    Regards.

Yeah, define a custom aet of default aspect ratios to be used for new slices. Like, the one that is needed for images for facebook. Or, at least, let me copy-and-paste slices from one document to another, so that I can keep the aspect ratio. (trksnoos, you can edit it by hand, just enter the px sizes in the box at the right-hand bottom corner of the Affinity Photo window.)

    Let's start with:
Why I can't copy, paste or duplicate slices?
And why I can't arrange the order of slices in the slices panel?

Well, here goes my thoughts on how to get rid of the Slices and the Export Options panels.

And merge draw and export Persona like fireworks please. It'll save a lot of time.

Also, when right clicking a layer in layer panel, contextual options :

    - Select all visible layers
    - Select all layers
    - Invert layers selection

And of course, talking about layers:

There is much better approach in Xara.     So called "names"  which are in fact an inheritable tags . So you could set whatever many tags you want for an object/layer  and then if you duplicates it the copy inherits those tags.

So why we couldn't have something similar within AP and AD . Mac OS have it for files already.

Thumbs up for the option to choose layers by name with the help of a search field, e.g. to activate/deactive layers with identical names or name parts! This feature would save me lots of time...

chr.schmitz reacted to MEB in Centralise Text (center text vertically inside text frame)
    Hi tiago1801,
The top and bottom distance to the frame depends on the font selected (it's a property of the font). Currently there's no way to place the text in the center of the text frame (vertically) unless you convert the text to curves (turning the letters into shapes - thus non-editable after the conversion). This may be implemented in a future version/update.

For me one of the greatest UI updates from Photoshop lately has been the layers filters.

Being able to search layers by name or to show only the text layers has been a great time saver for me since it has been introduced in Photoshop.

Having something similar in Affinity Designer would help a lot.

By the way, I would love to see 2 other options related to the layers panel :
Always show the selected layer (removes the need to constantly use find in layers panel) ; Only show the current art-board (in case of multiple art-boards, only the layers of the current art-board are visible).

    Hi all,

what about symbolic links for graphic objects? Imagine that you are working on a graphic file, which contains many identical objects. Wouldn't it be great, if you could make changes only once in the "master document" instead of changing every object individually?
