I'm trying to copy and paste a selection from one .afphoto document to a new one with a transparent background, when I paste it into the new file, it doesn't paste in the middle so I have to move it.
The problem is that when I try to move the pasted layer, the entire background moves along with it, it doesn't matter if I copy normally or copy flattened. I don't understand why a normal visible background layer isn't created automatically when creating a new file.
In Photoshop this has never been as issue, how do I stop the background from moving with the layer?

OK thanks for the info, I was able to resolve this by creating a new fill layer first and then making it transparent and then pasting in the content on top of it.
