StudioLink compatability with non-Microsoft Store apps

I own both Affinity Designer and Photo on Windows and am looking to buy Publisher. Affinity Photo was bought through the Microsoft Store and Designer was bought directly from Serif's webshop. I was wondering if buying Publisher from the Microsoft Store would still let StudioLink work with Designer given that it isn't from the Microsoft Store also?
