Hi @norrman and welcome to the forums.
Do ya see a fx symbol in the layer at the layer panel?

See ...
screencast_style.mp4 In order to get rid of the Outline (yellow framing), disable that (Outline) in the FX panel. Instead in order to change the outline (framing) color, alter the outline gradient colorings accordingly. In order to create a new recolored style out of the edited/altered/changed one, select the shape you've altered (I've used a rect in above screencast) and add it in the styles panel as a new style to a new own styles category. So you have a custom colored style of that then. -

The texture is just the noise setting.

If it's just for the texture, then just resample the texture part by adding noise to a fill color. - Example ...
screencast_noise1.mp4 screencast_noise.mp4 So you don't need to use that Style at all for applying some noise texture. - Further you can copy/paste a previous made texture from one selected shape over to another selected one by using Edit -> Copy and then Edit -> Paste Style, which will copy over the fill color & noise settings (attributes) from one object (shape) to another one then (even they are not real Styles in the sense of styles from the styles panel).

Once a Style has been created it cannot be changed.
You will need to make a new Style to include the modifications you made if you want to apply the new formatting to something else as a Style.
I don’t have the “Retro Style Plain” Style so I cannot see how it was created to give advice as to how to only use part of it, e.g. the texture only.
