  1. Thank you so much for your attention to my queries. I'm not sure what you meant about the history or snapshot idea as being photo specific. Scrivener has Snapshots with Compare (original with current version) and Roll Back. The snapshot text can be copied. Maybe that's a way to handle changes for various regions of a publication.
  2. I have a book that I want to layout. It has the usual beginning pages that include a TOC. Then I have three sections, each with over a dozen short chapters. The end has a glossary, etc. I am thinking of doing three separate AP files and using the Section feature for each chapter. After outputting the final PDFs, I would have to merge them for the printer. I have used Scrivener to write the book and would probably make changes there and then copy the text to AP. In AP I will add a few images which can't, of course, be anchored to the text flow yet. So I am wondering if this is a good approach, given that it is necessary in the first version of AP to do text flow and image placement within the text manually. Is there a better way? I have done several chapters with images to work out a template, design and other aspects.
  3. I get it now. If the text was entered on the page using the Artistic Text Tool, the Text Ruler is not available. The text must be copied and pasted into a Text Frame to see the Text Ruler. It is not possible to convert the text to add the frame. Perhaps an Add Frame to Text would be useful. Thanks
  4. Oops, when in doubt, check the menus and read all the choices carefully. I missed that one. I don't know then if it is worth being able to choose what amount of zoom (100, 200, 300, etc. %) is wanted. Perhaps if you want to see a bit more of what is around the selected item. Many thanks!
  5. I am having trouble getting the Text Ruler to show, so I typed a couple of extra tabs to move the type for the time being. Suddenly, the Toolbar, Studios, etc. all disappeared. Then the graphic behind the text box I was editing disappeared. I may have accidentally clicked in the graphic (a Designer file) which may have caused the text in the graphic to overflow the text box. But, that was after the top and side panels disappeared. Command-z brought the graphic back and Reset Studio got every back in view. I was not unable to replicate these issues, however, I just tried again and the Studios, etc. disappeared again. Typing a tab seems to sometimes mean Hide Studio because that is what get a check mark.
  6. I know I have seen the Text Ruler, but now I can't get it to show so I can edit my tabs.
  7. I'm wondering if using zoom keyboard shortcuts could zoom to selection. For example, I hit Command-0 to zoom out and see what my page looks like and then hit Command-2 or 3, etc. to zoom in, but what I had selected at the time is not in the center of the page, so it is out of view and I have scroll around to try to find it. Maybe there is another way to do this without the extra step of typing 'z', which won't work if I am in text editing mode.
  8. I'm wondering if it is possible to move Master Pages around to reorganize them in a different order. For example, if you have a lot of MPs it would be nice to have the most used ones at the top. Perhaps they could be dragged into position.
  9. Impressive at first look for a first beta. I come from QuarkXPress and I find AP intuitive. • Projects – What if you have several related files (stationery, brochure, etc.) and you want to them to share resources and formatting. If you add another item to the project, such as a booklet, could you pick up the resources and formatting? • Long documents – Sections, etc. How to handle long documents. • Issues – Publications with several locations, etc. Maybe ads change from region to region. • External copy editing while layout is being worked on. Could a text editor be used to edit placed text and have it update on the page geometry? • Versioning – is that Save History? Can you revert to a previous version. • Step and Repeat – Such as 4 across and 8 down, duplicate. • Repurposing – eBooks, web, etc. I am writing a book using Scrivener. I want to do my own layout, since I have a graphics and printing background and have been hoping AP will be ready by the time I am ready to layout my book. Scrivener recently included an option to output to software called Vellum.
  10. I am wondering if there might be a beta program someday for Affinity Publisher? I am in a bit of a predicament. I have been working on some flyers and newsletters for a friend. When I started, I decided to try Scribus, since my version of QuarkXPress was old and would not run on my Intel Mac. Scribus was just too quirky, so I looked around and found Affinity. I purchased Photo and Designer and have begun to use them. I read about Publisher, but since it was a bit down the road, I decided to go with MulitAd's Creator Express which was only around $40 on the App Store. It made a huge difference in my workflow. A few days ago, I upgraded to OSX 10.11 El Capitan and discovered that Creator will no longer run. I looked on the MultiAd website and found no mention, I could find nothing about Creator and El Capitan anywhere. Creator Express has also disappeared from the App Store (Canada). I am writing to MultiAd, but, since I have been looking forward to Publisher, I am wondering if it might be possible to be a beta tester and move on from Creator?
