Its ok. It's installed now. I notice though, publisher is quite slow to load up, maybe up to a minute or slightly less that the icon is bouncing with no other signs of life, then the Publisher splash screen appears and completes the load up - is this normal? I'm on MBP 2017 fully loaded, so wouldn't imagine a problem with resources?

Hi Guys, The update for Photo and Publisher were fine. The update for Designer just hangs, and doesn't complete. I've retried a few times, same result. I'm running Big Sur 11.2 on a 15" MBP. And the updates come through software updates. Any known issues? thanks in advance

Thanks for this guys. In this instance I've just used transparency tool in Designer mode of Publisher. But I can see, either will work. I think I had too much red wine last night!!

I'm having a moment! I'm trying to apply a gradient to a picture. That is to fade out the picture to the layer underneath it. It's from left to right etc. Left being the photograph in full opacity, fading to the under layer colour. Direction of fade isn't important, for this, I just can't remember how to do it!

Hi Guys. Has any form of 'feathering' mode been added to Affinity? The type of 'feather' that is available in Illustrator? When I used Illustrator I used it to feather and fade picture borders etc. I know there was talk of adding a similar feature, but am unsure if this has happened. Thanks!

Its what I got it for. Its perfect for short story book covers. I used Illustrator until it went all subscription on us. And with art boards, different versions of the same. I don't need anything else. Bring on Publisher!

Well, yeah, its checked. Actually its checked on default. But I unchecked and rechecked it, but still have to open last files manually. Maybe its an OSX thing?

It used to be the case that last worked on file(s) would open with the launch of Designer. But now, even though that option is ticked in the Preferences, I have to open manually. That is on both my 5k iMac running 10.11.6 and my MBP running the same. Am I missing something guys?

Ha Ha wow, and there was me thinking I was breaking new ground with the ideo of iOS versions. How close are they to release?

I dont suppose there is any chance, even the smallest chance of light versions of Designer and Photo for iOS? I know I know, stupid idea. but the latest ipads do give opportunity to carry on work after the laptop has been put away for the night and the desktop has been closed down.

..... I'm just about to swap out my mid 2012 MacBook Pro for a new one. My question is, do I have to de-activate my copy of Affinity (both photo and designer) on the old machine before installing them on the new one? Please tell me I don't have to buy whole new licenses? You had control of 9 workstations and you couldn't / wouldn't save / export JPEG yourself? Wow. I'm speechless.

Its in the export tool isn't it?

I'm no expert. I have both and think probably its similar to having Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Designer is vector, Photo is pixel. Like I said, I'm no expert but that's how I see it. The sets of tools are very different.

... but where do I find the artboard feature? The help says in the Tool panel with the Move tool but duh! The upgrade to Designer is 1.4 right?

I had this trouble. It took me three or four attempts each at upgrading Designer and Photo. Even then it was a far from smooth trouble free process. But all good now.

press CMD V simoultaneously isn't it?

I'm using mid 2012 (Retina) MacBook Pro with 16gb and 750 gb flash drive. Its fast! When at home this is hooked up to Apple's 27" thunderbolt retina screen. No performance issues at all. I just got Affinity Photo too!

Hi Guys I'm on my seocnd day with AD. Its amazing, although its speed does somewhat outdo me - I can be slow on the uptake! AI had Feather so pictures could be blnded into backgrounds, and so no unsightly sharp edges didn't exist. Does AD have an equivelent? Once again, I know its probably glaringly obvious to most. But after 20 years with AI I'm just begining on a learning curve. Thanks Guys Steve

Hi Guys / Girls I'm a brand new user (from today!) over from AI after 20 yrs, since that subscription model doesn't suit me as a single user 'advanced hobbyist'. Affinity Designer by the way is so cool. My AI was getting less and less functional with every release of OS X. My question - AI had an easily applied Drop Shadow in its effects filter drop down which I used all the time, especially with text. That doesn't exist in AD. fair enough, it may appear. But is there an efective workround? Also must say can't wait until Artboards make an appearance. Thanks in advance people! Steve aka TheRogue
