  1. Thanks to all for your guidance. Being a numpty, I was expecting somehow to save FX settings which would be identifiable, importing them as required. I had not realised that by copying a section of text, one could then import (or rather paste) just the effects. I now understand. There are ways and means that are obvious to those who are familiar, but not to those of us who are less familiar with the software. The 'Help' pages sometimes assume the user has greater knowledge, skill or experience than is the reality.
  2. I have made text with particular effects which I want to apply to more text. How does one save a set of effects and then import them to apply to the new text? At the moment, it seems as if I am going to have to write all the effects out and apply them to each individual lot of new text, but surely I am missing something?
  3. I scanned them from old photos. I put them in to a 'font finder' but could not get anything that had the variants in the letters. I could get one letter right out not another so in the end it was too complicated and I decided to draw them out and keep them for the future.
  4. Thank you! I thought there must be a straightforward way but it was beyond my experience to find it. I have done as you say and . . . perfect. I am very grateful.
  5. I am making transfers for models but the lettering is not a current font. I am therefore tracing images of the letters. How do I make a 'hollow' in a letter which is transparent so that when I apply the transfer, the background colour shows? For example, a capital 'R'. I have created the outside path but when I make the inner one, it is a separate layer. A fill colour for the outline of the 'R' fills everything including the 'hole in the middle'. Is it possible to merge the layers so that the 'hole in the middle' does not get obscured by the fill colour? Is there another way to do this? I am very new to the programme (Designer 1) although I have had it for some time. These letters will not be used once, but on other occasions in different colours on different colour backgrounds and different sizes. If it was a one-off, I would use Photo. Making the letters vector graphics allows me to make changes in size and so on and keep the outline quality.
