OK, I better spend some time elaborating on the image. 🙂 It was generated for the occasion by AI. I should have added some context but felt I had already wasted too much of my life screening the thread and I had some private life to live and also work to do, so I chose the JPG. The "Bored, I am leaving" was not for anto but the automatically triggered responses from a group of people not related to Serif.
I very much value feedback from @anto and other frustrated customers.
I'm completely indifferent and actually downright repulsed by generic and guaranteed responses and comments from - well, who the hell are they? It's rhetorical polyfilla. The whole thing is a complete waste of time and life. And unfortunately also for customers like anto who come here in frustration.
I can easily empathise with your argument, mood and list of issues, I've been following Serif's choices and opt-outs for over a decade and I'm resigned to all of this. I have really had a breakthrough in my creativity in spite of everything in the last year, but have given up on anything other than submitting improvement requests on an ongoing basis - inspired by others. Serif has read it all hundreds of times, and I don't think one or fifty more posts will change anything in the company after decades in the industry. They develop as usual, making the same mistakes I've seen since 2007. It's sad enough - but what's worse is that they don't fully realise the potential inherent in the concept behind the three programs.
If you're creative and passionate, possibilities are everywhere, and there's nothing more foolish than wasting time on futile deeds in that scenario. My time is best invested in creating and spending my time in the real world. I've found a niche for Affinity, but I haven't found a place in my life for forum-filla.
    I wish you a day of creativity. 🧑‍🎨 🎨

Very off topic, but this graphic should be hung in a mental health asylum. It's total madness.

Re: OP, yes sometimes their posts are harsh at times, but they're desperately needed in this space. I don't care for the self-aggrandizing commentary of other critics that have come to the board (because it's off topic), but anto has been consistently on topic and providing adequate and needed critiques. They are a needed member. I don't think even Serif wants the forum to be like a hugbox. But it's fair that the original post itself was hidden to save headaches. I feel bad for the staffmember who came under the crosshair, but at the same time, I see anto's point as to when communications become harder to take seriously. Like how high is polish on their priority list? Several have said they can't see it being high on the list at all on their end, but we can only talk about what is visible to us... I guess anto is saying to give the user perspective a bit more consideration when posting from the developer end...

I'm also noticing the pattern with the lack of bugfixes and things being left in. I personally find it completely unacceptable and it doesn't matter what the reasoning is after a point. It's not good for the customer and numerous users have related how these bugs/issues have impacted their workflow in substantial ways, so I think that a long cycle that focuses on JUST clearing the list and cleaning up the software is desperately needed. Will we get something like this? I have asked. I was told announcements can only be made from a select few, which is fair, but why haven't they commented further? It impacts my desire to spend so much time sharing bug reports/etc because it seems counterproductive to keep reporting the same bugs, or running into new bugs spawned by old bugs. But then I report new ones and sometimes they're fixed, sometimes they're not. I still can't believe we can't Expand Stroke a vector drawing that uses pressure curves without there being random flowers and other artifacts. It's basically raster-only. Expand Stroke almost always fails to convert everything seamlessly. Also, having to minimize my software when the UI freezes because that's been a bug for tablet users that's existed for some time now...

I really really want to see Serif step up their game. I will do so as well. I've started keeping a checklist of things I'd like to see, but again, if I post... where does it go really? I don't get a positive sensation from sharing any general feedback beyond just what's currently discussed in beta if it's just going into the ether... so I feel like sometimes it's like I'm silently being told it's not worth my time? If that makes sense?

    Hey @Sean P
ESC works with a regular selection of objects, but if I select some text in a text frame, ESC has no effect.
In Affinity for desktop, the first time I press ESC, it deselects the text selection and the second time it deselects the text frame.
I think that scenario should also be handled by ESC. 🙂

    Hi @Sean P
Could you add to this bug - or make a separate is that is how you work - that hitting the ESC key should also deselect a selection. This is not a configurable action, this is how it works in Designer for macOS.
    Thanks!

Bit Dissapointed got a reaction from loukash in Suggestion: easy way to adjust hue or saturation or lightness for ALL gradient stops
I edit a lot of gradients on a lot of objects, either after copy styling to a new object or I do it on a lot of duplicates, to either vary a tiny bit from each other to give an illustration a more natural look, or simply to adapt a copy of an element to different lighting conditions or give it a colour cue to fit into the part of the illustration it has been moved to.
I miss the ability to adjust hue or saturation or lightness for ALL gradient stops by simply dragging the slider for e.g. hue when the object is selected. Could also be great if it worked on a selection of objects with gradients (could even then apply the change to the fill on objects with no gradient).
Couldn't this be an option with a modifier, Command + drag slider, whatever? It would really be a life saver for me.
This might be of most value in scenarios where some nuance or saturation errors around a design need to be corrected on a number of objects, perhaps even close to deadline and under pressure.
Technically, it must be doable within reason, and therefore perhaps a low-hanging fruit. 🙂

IMHO This request is a perfectly good one.
Ideally a generalised tool that adjusts the actual colours in any vector object (without rasterising) , including but not limited to gradients, and that could handle multiple objects at once.

This is an old need, since the publisher beta version was released, almost 5 years ago, with 10 pages of comments here on the forum, how long will the affinity team ignore users on this issue?

I created this new topic so that the other one does not continue to be forgotten, since it is in the feedback archives of version 1, but it remains a necessity in version 2.

If there hadn't been an ESC key on my Apple keyboard, I wouldn't have had time to report here, but would have been standing from morning to night throwing rotten eggs at Apple's windows in Cupertino.

Bit Dissapointed got a reaction from Aammppaa in Suggestion: Redesign "Convert to curves" icon(s)
    Hi Serif staff
Since the beginning of Affinity, the icon for converting to curves in desktop applications has looked like this:

In other words, both an icon that tries to illustrate the functionality - and then a very wide text description on top of it. This is a rather extensive and unnecessary waste of screen space for a functionality that is presumably mostly used by experienced customers who can make do with less, and who most importantly understand a simpler and smaller toolbar button.
On top of that, the icon as I remember it looks different in the iPad applications, here it is just an icon, but a completely different icon with a triangular symbol. I didn't realise until late that the triangular icon was actually convert to curves, and this confusion is natural when different icons represent the same functionality.
I therefore suggest that you reduce the toolbar button to just a square graphical icon with no text and standardise the icon between the desktop and iPadOS versions of Affinity.

Let me put it this way: the spiral tool came in handy for a rather complicated illustration I was doing, but I would have done the work without it in a reasonably short time. Spiral tool is great for those rare occasions when I personally need it.
I'm about to generate several hundred shapes in transitions that can only be meaningfully generated by a competent and configurable blend tool. And tomorrow I have to do the same again in another illustration. And again on Monday in a third illustration. And so on. It's a permanent need for me.
So I have to go to another program to do it, but not everything is suitable for this round trip.
So for me, +1 is not enough of a statement.
I really, really seriously need a blend tool and really, really miss it.

    Hello
Not sure if this post belongs in the section, but for some reason I'm having issues scaling objects in designer, even when ticking scale with object. I noticed this when creating a square background for a phone icon which I was creating based on a youtube tutorial and went to scale the finished icon to put in my mock up. But the Square keeps turn into a circle not matter what I do e.g. Shift or Shift + Command. Scale with object IS enabled but still doesn't work. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or this is a bug

Bit Dissapointed got a reaction from EricP in Suggestion: Easier to add contents to picture frames
I think there is too much manual labour in inserting content in picture frames and that one of the options for inserting content is hidden in the left menu:
I recommend that double-clicking on an empty picture frame activates the insert file dialogue I recommend that you consider a small row of small icons over a selected content element, where an empty picture frame could have two or three small icons (not just in this frame - use them as a general UI concept) 1) Insert or replace image (if one is already inserted)
    2) Paste image as content icon (currently only in the right-click menu)
    3) Clear Picture Frame icon
For me, this would be functionality that would make work faster and easier, especially on the iPad.
As a bare minimum a bit more context sensitive options in the right click menu.

You actually have two options in pen tool. The default behaviour is that when you start a new curve any existing selection is lost. Alternatively you can "Preserve selection when creating new curves" which will keep everything selected as you create new curves with the tool (e.g. after you draw something in pen and hit esc / double click on last node drawn / close the curve and then start drawing another curve the first curve remains selected). This is useful to be able to edit properties of all drawn curves in that session at once, or go back to edit the position of any nodes drawn on a previous curve (e.g. by pressing cmd to switch to node tool).

Additionally there is another option of "Add new curve to selected curves object" which will add additional curves you create to the same object (i.e. will appear as a single object in your layers panel rather than multiple objects being created for each curve). This is more efficient in than to draw the curves separately with and then use Geometry -> Merge Curves which achieves the same thing.

Deselect button on the screen works, but the deslect key command shortcut doesn't.  This was a problem in 2.2 as well.  Please sort this. It stops me vector drawing on the iPad.  Which is a shame as that's why I bought it.

I could kind of see this with the pen tool, but if the option were set to NOT retain the selection, you would only be able to deselect a stroke after closing it.  If you are creating open paths, you basically need to deselect one in order to start another anyway, or the tool extends the existing curve instead of starting a new one.
Curiously, there is an existing option to do the opposite of this new feature: normally, when starting a new curve, the previous one is deselected; there is an existing option to keep it selected when starting the new one.  Sadly, it also breaks up all existing curves when doing so, limiting you to the two endpoints on each curve.  A rather strange feature, but I'm sure someone must have a use case of some sort for it.
