Any operation (hitting OK) or even opening the Text Styles window makes me kill time watching the Spinning Wait Cursor. Annoying.

Could this be related to fonts you are using? I am on MacOSX Ventura and I don't have that problem.

If you can attach a file you are struggling with I can have a look at my end.

However, there is a reason why companies reward existing customers for their loyalty. It makes them feel their support has been valued.

I hope you have read the response of Ash from Serif who said:

However, taking on board some of the feedback there is something extra we can do – we will offer a new free bundle of content exclusively for V1 customers upgrading to V2 as an extra thank you for your support. I’ve seen this suggested by a number of customers and it’s a great idea as it does remove the App Store conflict entirely.

We’ll need a little time to put something together, but all customers who previously registered or purchased V1 and have since upgraded to V2 will receive a voucher code for this via email as soon as we can.

You could still then offer the Universal License for new (and existing) customers, without alienating those of us who feel we’ve been pressurised into paying again.

I don't really understand what you are on about.

Serif has not pressurised us in any way to do anything. If you are happy with v1 stay there. If you are happy with the new features released in v2 they have offered us an extremely generous upgrade path to v2.

Are you upset that new customers get the same discount as you? Why? If Serif are so generous to do that what's that to you?

In my opinion, Adobe InDesign was much better at importing MS Word documents with minimal footnote adjustment after import.

    I'm surprised to hear that.

To me the Footnote/Endnote/Sidenotes implementation in Affinity Publishers is one of the best in the industry.

The fact that we have Sidenotes not available in inDesign is already one up on inDesign.

I usually import text from Word to either inDesign or Affinity Publisher for further processing. I don't leave that text as is.

So, in the case of Publisher, if I have defined a Style for Footnotes Text and Footnote References, then to apply those style to the whole text is only a matter of 2 clicks and I'm done.

Obviously, you may have encountered a bug or something, but in general this process should be very smooth and quick.

Section Manager is resizable horizontally and vertically on macOS.

While we can resize the Section Manager on the Mac, I wish we could resize the left and right side of the panel independently. As it is the right hand side is not resizeable at all and we can only see a fraction of the section name we type in the Section name text field. I think this really needs to be improved.

Question:  How can I "unlink" my Apps from my Apple account and link them to my Serif account?

So, you bought the Universal License from Apple Store, then, I'm afraid, you can't do much about it. What you can do though is to ask Apple Store for a refund (within 2 weeks of purchase, I believe) and then buy the Universal License from Serif store.

Publisher 2 turned all my footnotes into endnotes and all my footnote texts were disappeared!

That's interesting. I don't see that problem when I create footnotes and endnotes in the same document.

I hope you don't mind me asking you to describe what you do to create endnotes after you've created footnotes?

Do yo mind attaching your document here so I can have a look.

Affinity will support Javascript and also have a 'C' based API binding interface that people can use to write plugins. We will also have the ability to create UI to support their scripts and plugins with dialogs and panels.

We have a team developing this but the amount of work is very large so unfortunately users will need to be patient.

    Thank @TonyB for that information.

One thing that I'd love to know, if possible, is how you are going to deal with automation which remains platform specific.

Apple during the last Year WWDC announced that the future of automation on MacOSX is Shortcuts (replacing AppleScript). I have no doubts that on this year's WWDC, just next month, we will see a bigger push towards that.

Windows, no doubt, have their own technology.

Are there any plans to take advantage or each platform unique automation technologies?

How can I make text bold but keep the underline regular(non-bold)?

It may have something to do with the font you choose.

I tried that with the lowest common denominator font – Arial – and the thin underline in LibreOffice became a thick underline in Publisher.

I then tried Adobe Caslon Pro and the thickness of the underline hasn't changed in Publisher.

So my suggest is try various fonts and see what you get.
